15 injured in Chitwan bus accident
At least 15 persons were injured after a commuter bus hit a road divider at Ratnanagar Municipality-10 in Chitwan district along the East-West Highway this morning.
The bus (Province 1-02-001 9162) was heading towards Kathmandu from Lahan, Siraha when the incident occurred, said Rabindra Khanal, the Deputy Superintendent of Police of District Police Office, Chitwan.
The bus was carrying 39 passengers.
The injured passengers are receiving treatment in two hospitals in Chitwan.
3 killed, 11 injured in Dhankuta bus accident
Three persons died and 11 others were injured in a bus accident at Dhankuta on Monday.
The deceased have been identified as Krishna Kumari Bhujel (73) of Dhankuta Municipality-6, bus driver Rudra Tamang (51) of Dharan Sub-Metropolis-13 and Leela Bahadur Shrestha (58) of Shadananda Municipality-13.
Bhujel and Tamang died on Monday in the course of treatment at the Dhankuta Hospital while Shrestha breathed his last during the course of treatment at the Dharan-based BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences at 4 am today, said police.
The bus (Ko 1 Kha 2177) was heading towards Dhankuta from Dharan when the incident occurred.
Surya Mani Tamang and Anmol Tamang of Shadanand Municipality-13, Krishna Raut of Barahachhetra Municipality-2, Ganga Prasad Sapkota of Pauwadungma Rural Municipality3, Sabina Baraili and Devi BK of Bhojpur Municipality-11, Hansha Bahadur Rai of Sagurigadhi Rural Municipality-6, Purna Maya Tamang of Shadananda Municipality-11, Dirgha Maya Rai of Sangurigadhi Rural Municipality-6, Ayush Rai of Itahari and Dhan Kumar BK of Dhankuta-6 were injured in the accident.
They are receiving treatment at Dhankuta Hospital, Nobel Hospital and BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences.
21 injured as bus carrying Indian tourists meets with accident in Dang
At least 21 persons were injured when a bus carrying Indian tourists met with an accident in Dang on Friday.
Police said that the bus (UP 32 MN 9666) was heading towards Pokhara from Lucknow when the incident occurred at Chisapani along the Gadhawa-Koilabas road section this afternoon.
The injured are receiving treatment at a local hospital.
The reason behind the accident is yet to be ascertained.
Police informed that further details about the incident are awaited.
2 killed, 14 injured in Makwanpur bus accident
Two persons died and 14 others were injured in a bus accident at Dharampani in Makwanpurgadhi Rural Municipality-2, Makwanpur on Friday.
The incident occurred when the ill-fated bus (Ba Pra 01-006 Kha 7072) en route to Hetauda from Kathmandu fell some 200 metres down the road at 1 am today, according to the District Police Office, Makwanpur.
The deceased have been identified as Nilam Devi Raut (50) and Manushi Magar (13). Raut, who was seriously injured in the incident, breathed her last during the course of treatment while Magar's lifeless body was recovered from the site.
A team led by police inspector Birendra Rayamajhi was mobilized to the incident site immediately after receiving the information.. There were 15 passengers in the bus.
Among the injured, 10 are undergoing treatment at Hetauda Hospital and others at Sahakari Hospital in Makwanpur, the police added.
16 injured in Makwanpur bus accident
At least 16 persons were injured when a commuter bus met with an accident at Sunachuri in Manahari Rural Municipality-6 of Makwanpur along the East-West Highway this morning.
According to the District Police Office, the incident occurred when the bus (Lu 2 Kha 599) en route to Bhairahawa from Itahari fell some 10 meters down the road.
The injured were rescued and sent to Chitwan Hospital for treatment, office spokesperson Shyamu Aryal said.
Bus driver Rakesh Chaudhary (29) of Kolbi Municipality-11, Bara has been arrested for investigation into the incident.
Three dead in Arghakhanchi bus accident
At least people died and 15 others were injured in a bus accident at Bhuwanpata of Shitaganga Municipality-2 in Arghakhanchi district this evening.
Police Inspector of District Police Office, Bishnu Prasad Paudel, said three people died on the spot after a bus (Lu 2 Kha 303) met with an accident.
Police said that seven injured ones have been sent to Lubmini Provincial Hospital and eight others at a primary health care center.
Police Inspector Paudel shared that the rescue operation is ongoing.
Details of the road mishap are awaited.
17 injured in Kavre bus accident
At least 17 persons were injured when a bus they were travelling in met with an accident in Kavre on Tuesday.
The District Police Office, Kavre informed that the bus (Pradesh 3, 001-005 Kha 9942) belonging to Araniko Travels was heading towards Okhaldhunga from Kathmandu when the incident occurred at Shardha Batase in Dhulikhel-10 along the BP Highway this morning.
The injured are undergoing treatment at the Dhulikhel Hospital.
There were 24 persons on board the ill-fated bus.
Police said that the driver and assistant driver are in critical condition.
One killed in Kavre bus accident
A person died and another sustained critical injuries in a bus accident at Temal Rural Municipality-3, Kavre this morning.
According to the District Police Office, Ram Singh Tamang (50) of Temal Rural Municipality-1 died on the spot.
Bus driver Krishna Balan (50) of Bagmati Rural Municipality of Makawanpur who was critically injured in the accident is undergoing treatment at Dhulikhel Hospital.
3 students dead, 40 injured in Shankharapur bus accident
Three students have died while 40 others were injured in a bus accident that took place along the Sankhu-Nagarkot road section in Kattike, Shankharapur Municipality-5, Kathmandu, on Wednesday.
The incident occurred this afternoon when the Sundarimai Yatayat bus (Ba 2 Kha 7958), hired by the SS Academy School based in in Chabahil, lost control reportedly due to a brake failure, said spokesperson of the District Police Range, Kathmandu, Superintendent of Police Apil Raj Bohara.
The bus was returning from Nagarkot to Sankhu after collecting the students who had gone on a school picnic.
Further investigation into the incident is underway, according to the police.
Two die in Pharping bus accident
Two persons died when a school bus met an accident at Bhanjyang in Pharping of Dakshinkali Municipality-3, Kathmandu district on Sunday.
The ill-fated bus was carrying 50 students of the Junkiri English School.
The identities of the deceased are yet to be ascertained, according to the District Police Range, Kathmandu.
SP Apilraj Bohora shared that the students injured in the accident have been sent to various hospitals for treatment while the rescue operation was underway.
The details of the accident are awaited, SP Bohora added.
Four killed in Dadeldhura bus accident
Four people have died and 12 others sustained injuries when a passenger bus met with an accident in Dadeldhura last night.
The bus was on its way towards Purchaudi of Baitadi from Mahendranagar when the mishap occurred at Khasrekhan of Amargadhi Municipality-7, Dadeldhura.
Two women, a man and an infant died on the spot, said Police Inspector Upendra Bahadur Bam at the District Police Office Dadeldhura.
The deceased have been identified as 45-year-old Jayamati Bohara, 20-year-old Kamala Bohara, her infant son and 22-year-old Sahadev Bohara of Purchaudi Municipality-3 in Baitadi district.
Bus driver Birendra Bohara is critically injured in the accident and he has been taken to Dhangadhi for treatment.
The remaining injured persons are receiving treatment at Dadeldhura Hospital, Police Inspector Bam said.
Police suspect that the accident occurred as the driver fell asleep.
2 killed, 15 injured in Sindhuli bus accident
Two persons died and 15 others were injured when a commuter bus met with an accident in Sindhuli on Monday.
The bus (Pradesh 01-006 Kha 6785) was heading towards Bhojpur from Kathmandu when the incident occurred at Mahendrajhyadi Bhalkhada in Hariharpurgadhi Rural Municipality-5 Sindhuli along the Madan Bhandari Postal Highway.
Rural Municipality Chairman Bajradhoj Waiba informed that two persons died on the spot in the accident.
The injured are being taken to Kapilkot and Sindhuli Hospitals.
2 killed, 27 injured in Banke bus accident
Two persons died and 27 others sustained injuries when a bus met with an accident near Ranjha Chowk in Banke district on Thursday.
The bus (Bhe 1 Kha 2128) was heading towards Nepalgunj from Dang when the incident occurred, said Deputy Superintendent Narayan Dangi of the District Police Office Banke.
The deceased have been identified as Dhana Bahadur Oli (60) and Santosh Bhusal (24), the bus helper, of Tulasipur, Dang.
The injured are undergoing treatment at the Bheri Hospital in Nepalgunj and at the Kohalpur-based Teaching Hospital, according to police.
17 injured in Doti bus accident
As many as 17 people were injured when a commuter bus met with an accident at Samuhagadh of Silgadhi Municipality-4 in Dipayal district on Friday.
The incident occurred after the bus (Na 5 Kha 4451) fell some 35 meters down the road.
Bhimlal Bhattarai, Information Officer at the District Police Office, Doti, said that the bus of Shaileshwori Yatayat Company was heading to Dipayal from Dhangadhi when the incident took place.
The injured have been rushed to Sujang Hospital at Rajpur in Doti for treatment.
Simaltal bus accident: 15 bodies recovered, 8 identified
Fifteen bodies, out of 65, who went missing after two passenger buses plunged into the Trishuli River after being swept away by a mudslide at Simaltal of Bharatpur Metropolis-29 in Chitwan, have been found. Among the retrieved bodies, eight have been identified.
According to the Armed Police Force (APF) updates, till 9:30 am today, they have ascertained the identities of eight victims including three Indian citizens.
Those Indian nationals are Rhishipal Sah (28) of Sitamani, Bihar, Jaya Prakash Thakur (30) of Betiya Thana in Paschim Champaran and Sajad Ansari (30) of Betiya Majheiliya.
Similarly, other deceased have been identified as Bikash Pariyar (22) of Madi-2, Chitwan; Ramit Kushar Majhi (19) of Barhathawa-3, Sarlahi; Sudip BK (23) of Patahani of Bharatpur Metropolis-22, Paramananda Pundit (43) of Bishrampur-6, Bara; and Firoj Miya of Rautahat-17.
APF Spokesperson Deputy Superintendent of Police, Shailendra Thapa, said their relatives have already received the bodies.
Seven dead including a woman are yet to be identified and their bodies were retrieved from Golaghat, Salabas, and Sisawar of Chitwan, Gaidakot, Bhutaha, and Tribeni Barrage of Nawalpur.
Earlier on Friday, two passenger buses fell into the Trishuli River after being swept away by a landslide at Simaltal.
One bus (Bagmati Province 3-006 Kha 1516) was heading towards Kathmandu from Birgunj, while the other (Bagmati Province 03-001 Kha 2459) was en route to Gaur from Kathmandu.
It has been learnt that there were 65 passengers onboard the two buses: 38 on the bus bound for Kathmandu from Birgunj and 38 on the next.
Three passengers saved lives by jumping out of the bus heading towards Gaur from Kathmandu.
Jugeshwor Raya Yadav and Saroj Kumar Gupta of Garuda Municipality-19 in Rautahat have already returned home while Nandan Das of Dewahi Banahi Municipality-10 in Rautahat is under medical treatment, it has been said.
65 missing as two buses plunge into Trishuli river
Dozens of people went missing when two passenger buses plunged into the Trishuli river on Friday.
The incident occurred after a landslide triggered by torrential rainfall swept away the buses into the river at Simaltal area along the Narayanghat-Mugling road section in Chitwan district, officials confirmed. The buses were carrying 65 passengers, it has been said.
Chief District Officer of Chitwan, Indra Dev Yadav, confirmed that two vehicles fell into the river at 3:30 this morning.
According to Yadav, a bus of Ganapati Deluxe heading to Gaur of Rautahat from Kathmandu was carrying 41 persons and the next bus on its way to Kathmandu from Birgunj had 24 persons on board.
The Chief District Officer, who is on the site, said that the rescue workers have started clearing the debris.
Yadav said details of the accident are awaited.
