12 injured in Udayapur bus accident
At least 12 persons were injured when a commuter bus met with an accident at Andheri Jogi Tole in Udayapurgadhi Rural Municipality-7 of Udayapur.
Police said that the incident occurred when the bus (Ba 2 Kha 6257), heading towards Gaighat from Katari, reportedly suffered brake failure and fell some 40 feet down the road.
Following the incident, a quick response team (QRT) from the Armed Police Force was deployed to the site to carry out rescue operations.
The injured have been sent to a local hospital for treatment.
The details of the accident are awaited.
NC President Thapa expresses sorrow over Dhading bus accident
Nepali Congress (NC) President Gagan Kumar Thapa has expressed deep sorrow over the fatal bus accident that had occurred in the wee hours today at Bhainsegauda in Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality-5, Dhading.
The bus (Ga 1 Kha 1421) heading towards Kathmandu from Pokhara plunged into the Trishuli River, killing 17 people and injuring 27 others.
In a press release today, the NC President has, on his behalf and the party, extended heartfelt tributes to the deceased and condolences to the grieving families.
He has urged the government to take all necessary arrangements so that the injured could access quality treatment.
The party has also drawn the government's attention to the need for taking measures for addressing growing cases of road accidents lately. It wants the government to form a taskforce to find out reasons behind such accidents.
17 killed, 24 injured in Dhading bus accident
At least 17 persons died and 24 others were injured when a passenger bus met with an accident in Dhading in the wee hours of Monday.
The incident occurred when the bus (Ga 1 Kha 1421) heading towards Kathmandu from Pokhara veered off the road and plunged into the Trishuli River in Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality-5, Bhainsigauda, Dhading at around 1.30 am this morning.
The bodies of 17 people who died in the accident have been recovered, said Bishnu Prasad Bhatta, spokesperson of the Armed Police Force (APF).
He further shared that the injured have been rescued and rushed to various hospitals for treatment.
Identities of the deceased and injured are yet to be established.
The cause behind the accident is yet to be known, police said. .
A rescue operation is underway in coordination among all three security agencies.
A team with divers from the APF Nepal Disaster Management Unit at Adamghat has been mobilized for the rescue operation, Bhatta said.
APF DSP Sunil Giri from the Disaster Management Training School, Kurintar is leading the command for the rescue effort.
22 passengers injured in Makwanpur bus accident
Twenty-two passengers were injured when a bus met with an accident at Bijauna in Manahari Rural Municipality-7, Makwanpur, on Sunday.
According to Pushkar Bogati, Deputy Superintendent of Police and spokesperson of Makwanpur District Police Office, a passenger bus with the registration number Ba 06–001 Kh 0054, heading towards to Chitwan from Birgunj, went out of control and crashed into an electric pole on the left side of the road, injuring 22 passengers traveling in the bus.
DSP Bogati said that the injured were rescued and sent to Chitwan Hospital for treatment.
10 of 12 people killed Ramechhap bus accident identified
Ten of the 12 people, who died in a bus accident that took place earlier today near Manthali, the district headquarters of Ramechhap, have been identified.
They are Bhim Bahadur Tamang (38), Sanumaya Tamang (35), Ramita Tamang (26) and Tara Tamang (31) of Likhu Tamakoshi Rural Municipality-7 in Ramechhap; Babi Tamang (22) and Dipendra Basnet (26) of Likhu Tamakoshi-4; Dipesh Basnet of Likhu Tamakoshi Rural Municipality-6; Man Kumari Baruwal (45) of Likhu-6; Shiva Shrestha (34) of Golanjor Rural Municipality-6 in Sindhuli; and Man Bahadur Tamang (60) of Bhimeshwor Municipality-8 in Dolakha, according to Manthali Hospital’s Medical Superintendent Dr Keshab Singh Dhami.
The identities of two others are yet to be ascertained.
Ramechhap’s Deputy Superintendent of Police, Bhola Bhatta, said eight people, including the driver, were injured in the accident and are being treated at Khurkot-based Jeevan Hospital, Manthali Hospital, and Tamakoshi Hospital.
Police have taken the bus driver into custody.
The search for the remaining passengers is underway.
The accident occurred when the bus (Pradesh 03-01-005 Kha 9975) of Araniko Yatayat, heading to Okhaldhunga from Kathmandu, veered off the road and plunged into Tamakoshi River at Masantar of Manthali Municipality-6 this morning.
Four killed in Ramechhap bus accident
At least four persons died in a bus accident near Manthali of Ramechhap district on Tuesday.
DSP Bhola Bhatta of the District Police Office, Ramechhap said that six people including the bus driver were injured in the incident.
The accident took place when the bus belonging to Araniko Transport heading towards Okhaldhunga from Kathmandu plunged into Tamakoshi river at Masantar in Manthali Municipality-6, Ramechhap.
Some of the injured have been rescued and taken to the nearby hospital for treatment.
Problems have surfaced to carry out rescue operations as the bus has been plunged into the river, added Bhatta.
Details of the accident are awaited.
Araniko Travels bus plunges into Tamakoshi River in Ramechhap
The bus belonging to Araniko Travels plunged into the Tamakoshi River near Triveni, Ramechhap on Tuesday.
According to the District Police Office, Ramechhap, some passengers were seriously injured when the bus heading towards Polthali in Okhaldhunga from Kathmandu met with an accident this morning.
It has been reported that locals are rescuing the injured.

Baitadi bus accident: Death toll reaches 13
The death toll in a Baitadi bus accident has reached 13.
The bus was carrying wedding attendants.
Eight among them died on the spot and five others breathed their last at Dadeldhura Hospital.
The Bajhang-bound bus (Supa Province 02 001 Kha 1119) from Purchaidi Municipality-7, Bhawane of Baitadi met with an accident at Purchaidi-7 Badgaun Mode on Thursday.
Baitadi Police Chief Deepak Kumar Roy said that 40-year-old Keshav Raj Joshi of Bitthadchir Rural Municipality-7, Bajhang, 13-year-old Ashok Raj Joshi from the same place, 35-year-old Basanta Joshi, 41-year-old Bisna Dutta Joshi, 60-year-old Mohan Dev Bhatta of Kedarsyu Rural Municipality, Bajhang, 40-year-old Basanta Raj Ratala of Jayaprithvi Municipality, Bajhang, and 40-year-old Pushpa Awasthi of Purchaudi-7, Baitadi died on the spot. The identity of a person is yet to be established.
Those pronounced dead at Dadeldhura Hospital include 17-year-old Bisna Dutta Joshi of Bitthadchir Rural Municipality-7, Bajhang, 28-year-old Deepk Raj Joshi of the same place, 46-year-old Kisana Dutta Joshi, 27-year-old Keshav Raj Bhatta from Bassi, Kedarsyu Municipality-7, and 15-year-old Sushil Joshi of Purchaudi Municipality-7, Baitadi.
Thirty-four others injured in the accident are being treated in Dadeldhura, Dhangadhi, and Bajhang.
The bride and groom, however, were not onboard the bus, it has been informed.
5 killed, 13 injured in Dharan bus accident
Five persons died and 13 others were injured in a bus accident at Zero Point in Dharan Sub-Metropolis-13, Dharan on Sunday.
A passenger bus (Ko 1 Kha 7119) en route to Dharan from Dhankuta hit a roadside medical building, killing five passengers, including a child, said Chandra Khadka, spokesperson at the District Police Office, Sunsari.
The identities of the deceased are yet to be established.
Police said that they are looking into the case.
Four killed in Shankharapur bus accident
Four persons died in a bus accident in Shankharapur Municipality-3, Kathmandu.
Superintendent of Police Pawan Kumar Bhattarai, spokesperson of the District Police Range, Kathmandu, confirmed that four people have died and 22 others injured in the accident.
He said that the bus (Ba 4 Kha 8788) returning from a picnic met with an accident at around 6 pm.
The injured are being treated at various hospitals in Kathmandu.
The bus was reportedly carrying 40 people, who were employees of the 'Nature Herb' organization, returning after a picnic, police said.
33 injured in Chitwan bus accident
A bus bound to Kathmandu from Gaur met with an accident this morning at Tikauli Forest area in Bharatpur Metropolitan City–9, Chitwan, injuring 33 people.
Deputy Spokesperson at the Armed Police Force office here, Shailendra Thapa informed that the injured were immediately rescued and taken to Chitwan Medical College, National City Hospital, and Bharatpur Hospital.
The condition of all the injured is stable.
The road that was temporarily blocked after the accident resumed operation a short while ago.
Three killed in Palpa bus accident
Three persons died in a bus accident at Pipal Bhanjyang in Rainadevi Rural Municipality-4, Palpa on Wednesday.
The bus (Lumbini Province 01-001 Ja 0091) was heading towards Mehaldhap from Amalabas in Palpa district when the incident occurred.
The deceased have been identified as driver Kamal Rayamajhi (34) of Amalabas; Ram Bahadur Gaha (41), of Chhahara-4; and Mukta Bahadur Budhathoki (37) of Chhahara-1, according to Kamal Pradhan, Information Officer at District Police Office, Palpa.
Seriously injured in the incident, they were taken to the District Hospital, Palpa where they breathed their last during the course of treatment.
Investigation into the incident is underway, police added.
1 killed, 21 injured in Jhapa bus accident
A person died and 21 others were injured in a bus accident at Damak Municipality-2 in Jhapa district last night.
Of the injured people, the health condition of a passenger is critical, while 20 others went home after treatment in health facilities, according to police.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Khagendra Bahadur Khadka said the bus (Ba 2 Kha 1983) carrying 35 people was heading to Tandi in Morang district from Damak, Jhapa when the incident occurred.
Police said that they have taken bus driver Bhakta Bahadur Darji (39) of Miklajun in Morang district for interrogation.
Forty-two killed as bus crashes on South Africa mountain pass
Forty-two Zimbabwean and Malawian nationals have died after a bus taking them home overturned on a South African road, authorities have said, BBC reported.
The crash happened on Sunday night as the bus was moving through "a mountainous section" of the N1 highway in South Africa's Limpopo province, local transport officials said.
"It [then] veered off the road along a steep mountain pass and plunged down an embankment," they added.
South African President Cyril Ramaphosa mourned the high death toll, which includes seven children, and said this was not only a tragedy for the country but for "our sister states of Zimbabwe and Malawi" as well, according to BBC.
23 injured in Gorkha bus accident
At least 23 persons were injured in a bus accident in Bhimsen Thapa Rural Municipality-3, Gorkha on Tuesday.
The bus (Bagmati Province 01-006 Kha 4131) belonging to Gorkha Daraundi Travels Service Pvt. Ltd was heading towards Gorkha from Kathmandu when the incident occurred at around 6 am today, DSP Indra Prasad Subedi of Gorkha informed.
Aming the injured, three to four persons are in critical condition, police said.
The injured have been sent to Arughat Hospital for treatment.
Bus plunges off bridge in Algeria, killing at least 18
At least 18 people were killed and nine others injured when a passenger bus plunged off a bridge into a streambed in El Harrach, east of Algiers, on Friday evening, Xinhua reported.
Rescue teams, backed by divers and boats, rushed to the scene as civilians initially helped pull victims from the submerged vehicle. Two of the injured remain in critical condition, and officials cautioned the toll could rise.
