West Indies, Zimbabwe stranded in Kolkata due to closure of airspace in West Asia

The West Indies cricket team has been left stranded in Kolkata following their exit from the T20 World Cup, as escalating tensions in the Middle East have led to the closure of key air corridors across West Asia, India Today reported.

The Caribbean side, who played their Super 8 match in Kolkata, were scheduled to depart India shortly after their elimination.

However, the shutdown of Dubai Airport and the wider closure of West Asian airspace have severely disrupted international flight schedules, leaving the team unable to return home as planned, according to India Today.

Satriano volley stuns Real Madrid as Getafe shake up LaLiga title race

Martin Satriano's superb first-half volley earned Getafe a shock 1-0 victory at Real Madrid in LaLiga on Monday, a result that left leaders Barcelona four points clear at the top of the standings, Reuters reported.

Real dominated possession from kickoff and controlled the game but failed to turn pressure into goals, squandering several chances in an ill-tempered contest.

Alvaro Arbeloa's side were left exposed in the 39th minute when a half-cleared cross dropped invitingly on the edge of the box and Satriano struck a fierce volley into the top left corner, according to Reuters.
