41 ex-Indian Gurkha Army of Chitwan honored
Forty-one Ex-Indian Gurkha Army of Chitwan district have been honored with 'Senior Warrior Award'.
At a program jointly organized by Consulate General of India in Birgunj, and Ex-Servicemen Welfare Club on Saturday, 41 Ex-Indian Gurkha Army above 80 years were honored.
On the occasion, former General Dr Prem Singh Bansyat said both Nepal and India should respect the contribution of the Ex-Indian Gurkha Army.
The Ex-Indian Gurkha Army had played the role of bridge to maintain the friendly relations between the two countries.
Similarly, Consul General of Consulate General of India in Birgunj, Nitesh Kumar said that the Indian government would honor the Ex-Indian Gurkha Army continuously.
He said the Consulate General of India in Birgunj, organized such a program for the first time and it would be continued.
The honored Ex-Indian Gurkha Army expressed happiness for honoring them appreciating their contribution.
16 Nepalis missing in Uttarakhand landslide
Sixteen Nepalis went missing in a landslide that occurred near Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand, India on August 3.
A Nepali citizen, who lives near the incident area, said that seven persons of a family of Jumla, who were engaged in a hotel business, four of Jumla and five of Kalikot are missing in the landslide.
Though it has been said that the search operation is underway for the missing persons, according to a local media and office bearers of local government, it has been hampered by adverse weather and the rising water level in the river, reads a statement issued by the Nepali Embassy in New Delhi.
According to the statement, three bodies were recovered from the bank of the Mandakini River. Among them, two were Nepali nationals and one Indian citizen.
Out of two Nepalis, one has been identified as Tek Bahadur Kami from Kalikot and another body is yet to be identified due to severe bruises on the face.
The Nepali Embassy in New Delhi has requested the India’s Ministry of External Affairs and Rudraprayag based district office bearers to carry out search and rescue operations of the missing Nepalis and to expedite the process of handing over the bodies to their family members at the earliest.
The Nepali Embassy said that it is in constant touch with the district office bearers of Rudraprayag, Disaster Control Room and Uttarakhand-based Disaster Management Secretary.

Six Nepalis killed in India car accident
Six members of two families of Nepalgunj, Nepal were killed in a road accident at Shravasti district of India on Saturday.
The deceased have been identified as Baibhav Gupta (35) of Sadarline, Nepalgunj, his wife Dipika Gupta (32), their three-year-old son Dallu Gupta and six-month-old daughter Shreya Gupta, Nilans Gupta (22) of Tribhuvan Chowk of Nepalgunj and his sister Sunita Gupta (20).
The accident took place when a car bearing Indian registration number plate UP 47 W 1217 en route to Nepalgunj from Balrampur of India hit a cow at Shravasti district, said SP Santosh Singh Rathore of the District Police Office, Banke.
Critically injured in the incident, car driver Ajay Mishra is receiving treatment at a hospital.
SP Rathore said that preparations are underway to complete the necessary process to bring the bodies to Nepal after carrying out postmortem in Bahraich of India.
Father, daughter die in Tarkeshwor landslide
Two persons died after a landslide buried a house in Tarkeshwor Municipality-5 of Kathmandu on Saturday.
District Police Range, Kathmandu spokesperson SP Kumod Dhungel said that Ganesh Tamang (42) and his daughter Ashma Tamang (15) of Samari, Nuwakot and currently residing at Cho Gaun of Tarkeshwor died in the landslide that occurred at Cho Gaun in Tarkeshwor-5 last night.
Police said that Ganesh’s wife Sanju Tamang was injured in the incident.
She is receiving treatment at a hospital.
