Lumbini Province CM Chaudhary secures vote of confidence
Lumbini Province Chief Minister Dilli Bahadur Chaudhary secured a vote of confidence on Tuesday. Chief Minister Chaudhary got the vote of confidence in the 10th meeting of the first session of Lumbini Province Assembly today. Speaker Tularam Gharti Magar announced that a total of 53 votes were cast in favor of Chaudhary while 29 cast votes against him. Similarly, four lawmakers remained neutral. CM Chaudhary had presented a proposal for vote of confidence in the Province Assembly as per the Article 188 (1) of the Constitution and Rule 145 (4) of the Lumbini Province Assembly Regulations-2079. Twenty-seven members from the Nepali Congress, nine from the CPN (Maoist Centre), four from Nagarik Unmukti Party, three from Janata Samajbadi Party, Loktantrik Samajbadi Party and Janamant Party each, one from CPN (Unified Socialist) and Rastriya Janamorcha each and one independent member cast their votes in favor of Chaudhary. There are 29 members from the CPN-UML and four from the Rastriya Prajatantra Party. Chaudhary was elected to the post of Chief Minister on April 27 as per the Article 168 (2) of the Constitution.
JSP Chairman Yadav takes oath of office and secrecy
Newly elected lawmaker Janata Samajbadi Party Chairman Upendra Yadav took oath of office and secrecy on Tuesday. Speaker Deveraj Ghimire administered the oath of office and secrecy to Yadav amidst a program organized in Singha Durbar this afternoon. After the sworn in ceremony, Yadav said that the government’s stability is necessary to take the country ahead. He said that the Janata Samajbadi Party will send its representatives to the government soon. Yadav was of the opinion that the country should be taken towards the path of development and prosperity by forging national consensus among the parties. He was elected as the lawmaker from Bara-2 in the by-election held on April 23.
President Paudel willing to bear all expenses of his treatment in India
President Ram Chandra Paudel has expressed his willingness to bear all expenses of his treatment in India, according to the President's Private Secretariat. The President has expressed his interest to bear all expenses of his treatment at AIIMS, New Delhi, in India, read a press release issued by President Paudel's Press Coordinator Khila Karki. President Paudel underwent treatment at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital after he complained of health problems before he was airlifted to New Delhi for treatment. “The President has expressed his willingness to bear all the expenses of his treatment,” the statement read. President Paudel had left for India on April 19 for treatment and returned home on April 30.
CPN (Revolutionary Maoist), CPN (Bahumat) unite to form Revolutionary Communist Party Nepal
Mohan Baidhya-led CPN (Revolutionary Maoist) and Dharmendra Bastola-led CPN (Bahumat) have unified on Monday. The name of the new party announced amidst a formal program in the Capital this afternoon will be ‘Revolutionary Communist Party Nepal’. Newly formed Revolutionary Communist Party Nepal Chairman Baidhya, party spokesperson Bastola, officer members and party advisors among others were present in the program.
