Mokshada School reaches semi-finals
On the third day of GEMS Thunderbolts Cup Sports Mega Event, APF School Cricket Team defeated NIST School, Bhaktapur by a huge margin of 160 runs. Mokshada School advanced their way into the semi-finals by defeating NIST School and APF School by 134 runs and seven wickets respectively.
Meanwhile, in another match played between Caribbean School and Angel Heart School, Angel Heart School defeated Caribbean School in the super over.
Similarly, in the U-16 boys category of football, Sainik School defeated NIST School Bhaktapur by 3-0, while APF School defeated Kanjirowa School in the same category by a massive difference of 16-0. Also, in the football match in the U-12 boys category, Nepal Police School registered their victory over Sainik School by 5-0, while APF School defeated Modern School in the same category by a huge difference of 10-0.
Further, in the basketball group events, Teresa School managed to record their victory over Sanskriti School by 31-30 points. Meanwhile, Wilson School Defeated NIST School by a big margin of 38-20 points. Ullens School, on the other hand, had an easy victory over Little Flower School by 57- 33 points. In the following matches, GEMS School recorded 38 points against Radiant School's 19 points. Additionally, Nisarga School, Sainik School and Little Angels' School registered victory in their respective matches.
Gold price drops by Rs 1, 400 per tola on Thursday
The price of gold has dropped by Rs 1, 400 per tola in the domestic market on Thursday.
According to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association, the yellow metal is being traded at Rs 109, 600 per tola today. It was traded at Rs 111, 000 per tola on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, tejabi gold is being traded at Rs 109, 100 per tola. It was traded at Rs 110, 450 per tola.
Similarly, the silver is being traded at Rs 1,370 per tola today.
PM Dahal extends best wishes on Indra Jatra festival
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said advancing towards social justice, good governance and prosperity by promoting religious tolerance, national unity, social goodwill and emotional bond is the national agenda of the hour.
Extending his best wishes on the occasion of the Indra Jatra festival today, the head of the government expected that the festival would inspire all to achieve the goal of prosperity by further strengthening out the Constitution and promoting national unity, social goodwill and harmony.
Describing Nepal as a multilingual and multicultural nation with diverse and unique natural features, he said,'' Our civilization, religions, culture, festival and lifestyle reflect our rich history." He reminded that the federal democratic republic enshrined by Nepal's Constitution is the matter of pride for all the Nepali citizens.
Indra Jatra, the festival dedicated to the God Indra, the deity of rain and good harvest, is historically observed by the Newar community particularly in the Kathmandu Valley.
On the occasion of the festival, the Prime Minister wishes peace, prosperity and happiness to the entire Newar community including Nepali sisters and brothers living in the country and abroad.
PM Dahal visiting Mount Kailash, Mansarovar today
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, who is currently on an official visit to China since September 23, is scheduled to visit Mount Kailash and Mansarovar Lake today.
He arrived in Lhasa, Tibet on Wednesday.
The Prime Minister will depart from Lhasa to Mount Kailash from Gonggar Airport on a Tibet Airlines flight.
Indra Jatra being observed today
Indra Jatra, the biggest festival of Kathmandu Valley, is being observed by worshiping Indra, the God of rains, on Thursday.
This festival is celebrated especially in the three districts of the Kathmandu Valley, and Dhulikhel and Dolakha. The annual traditional festival begins on the Bhadra Shukla Chaturdasi of Nepali month, Bhadra. It is an eight-day long festival.
The festival begins with the erection of a sacred wooden pole called Lingo with flags on its top at Hanuman Dhoka, the historic place of Nepal.
During the festival, chariot processions and typical cultural songs and dances are performed.
The erected pole with the flag is called 'Indradhwojotthan'. On the bottom of the pole, Lord Bhairav is worshiped.
The Indra Jatra festival is taken as the celebration after conquering the enemies.
The wooden pole is brought by performing tantric acts from a jungle of Nala in Kavre district.
The pole is made holy with various rituals at Bhotahiti, Kathmandu.
When the pole is erected, different cultural dances including Bhakkunach, Mahakalinach, Lakhenach, Dasavatarnach and Pulukisinach are performed in the city.
The government has also announced a public holiday today in Kathmandu Valley to celebrate the festival.
Three held with four kg gold from Dolakha
Police have arrested three persons with four kg gold from Lamabagar of Dolakha on Wednesday.
It has been learnt that police recovered four kg illegally imported gold from near Jamune of Bigu Rural Municipality-3, Dolakha.
DSP Deepak Khadka of the District Police Office, Dolakha said that a team deployed from the Area Police Office, Singati apprehended three persons with four gold at around 10 pm yesterday.
Police said that they are looking into the case.
All medical services except emergency shut down in Pokhara hospitals
The Nepal Medical Association, Gandaki has shut down all medical services except emergency services in all the hospitals of Pokhara on Wednesday in protest against the attack on health workers at Manipal Hospital.
The Nepal Medical Association, Gandaki on Tuesday through a press release had called on hospitals throughout Gandaki Province to halt all services except emergency citing that the doctors are being attacked one after the other.
The Nepal Medical Association had expressed its solidarity to the call.
All services except emergency services are closed at the Pokhara Academy of Health Sciences, the largest health facility in Gandaki province, today, at the call of the Association, said the Hospital Director Bharat Khattri.
Patients who have come from rural and far-flung areas are facing inconvenience due to the closure of the health services,
Health institutions urged to keep notice board on penalty against mistreating docs, health workers
The Ministry of Health and Population has issued a circular to all health institutions to keep a notice board containing information about the legal provisions for punishing people who mistreat doctors and attack health institutions.
The Ministry has directed health institutions to keep a notice board containing the legal provisions in Clause 3 and 15 of the Security of Health Workers and Health Organizations Act, 2066 so that service seekers and stakeholders can view it.
In this connection, various health-related organizations including the Nepal Medical Council, the Nepal Nursing Council and the Nepal Nursing Association held a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha and Minister for Health and Population Mohan Bahadur Basnet.
On the occasion, DPM Shrestha pledged to take action against the guilty. The meeting decided to inform the body and the procedure to complain if there are any shortcomings committed by doctors, health workers and the hospital and publish the Security of Health Workers and Health Organizations Act in a citizen charter.
Those meting out physical attacks on doctors and health workers across the country will face action, the meeting concluded.
