A 21-year-old student, who had gone to do internship at Nepal House Restaurant in Kathmandu, has been raped.

She along with five other students, who have been studying management in Gate College, had gone to the Nepal House Restaurant on Friday.

According to a preliminary investigation, there was a marriage anniversay party at the restaurant where they were also invited to work as interns.

Restaurant staffer Jeevan KC raped the student while the party was going on. 

A permanent resident of Dolakha, KC, who had been working as a waiter at the restaurant for the past three months, took the student at the smoking zone and raped her at around 10 pm. 

Police said that KC offered a cold drink mixed with alcohol and raped her after she got intoxicated.

Kathmandu Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu Chief Sudeep Giri said that a team deployed from the Metropolitan Police Circle, Durbarmarg arrested KC on Friday itself. 

Police said that they are looking into the case.

Police have arrested an Indian national in possession of a pistol and bullets from Harinagar Rural Municipality-4 of Sunsari.

SP Sanjay Singh Thapa of the District Police Office, Sunsari said that Om Prakash Pal of Arariya Babuwan Panchayat Ghorna Thana of India was nabbed with a pistol and three rounds of bullets.

He said that Pal was detained while he had come to his relative’s house in Harinagar Rural Municipality-4 of Sunsari.

A police team deployed from the District Police Office, Sunsari arrested Pal acting a tip-off, SP Thapa said.

Further investigation into the incident is underway, police said.

Police have arrested 14 persons for not allowing the garbage carrying vehicles to enter the dumping site in Sisdole, Nuwakot.

Police said that they apprehended the locals of Sisdole for creating obstructions in dumping the garbage.

Locals had been staging demonstrations since this morning saying that they would not allow the garbage of Kathmandu to dump in Sisdole landfill site until their demands are met.

DSP Gautam Mishra of the Metropolitan Police Circle, Balaju said that they have rounded up 14 persons who were trying to create obstructions in dumping the garbage.

Earlier on Tuesday, Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balen Shah had urged the locals to facilitate dumping the garbage.

An eighteen-year-old girl died when police opened fire at protesters in Orali Bazaar of Madhuban Municipality, Bardiya on Monday.

The deceased has been identified as Nabina Chaudhary of Madhuban Municipality-2.

The incident occurred when a clash broke out between the security personnel and the locals who were staging a demonstration demanding security from the wild animals after Asmita Tharu (41) was critically injured in a tiger attack while she was working at her home.

They had demanded that the tigers should be relocated and electric fences should be installed to prevent wild animals from entering the human settlements.

Inspector Hridayesh Sapkota of the District Police Office, Bardiya said that 12 Nepal Police and seven Armed Police personnel were injured in the clash.

Security personnel fired 20 rounds of tear gas canisters to take the situation under control.

Following the incident, the government formed a five-member committee to investigate the incident.

Meanwhile, speaking at the Parliament meeting on Tuesday, Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand said that the government had not given order to the security personnel to open fire at the protesters in Bardiya.

He said that action will be taken against those involved in the incident.
