Security protocols enhanced in Madhes Province for HoR polls

In view of the upcoming elections to the House of Representatives, security protocols have been enhanced throughout Madhes Province. 

Madhes Province Police Office in Janakpurdham has stated that election preparations are being executed systematically to avert any breaches of the election code of conduct and to ensure a fair and peaceful atmosphere. 

Security measures have been escalated in the border regions between Nepal and India that are linked to the province. Checkpoints have been set up, and special surveillance is being implemented. 

The office has reported that oversight and evaluations concerning the security of polling centers across all eight districts have already been carried out.

According to the office, out of 2,160 polling stations in Madhesh Province, 1,246 polling stations fall under the highly sensitive category. Most of the polling stations connected to the Indian border in the province are highly sensitive. 

The monitoring and security measures are being carried out in a planned manner, said Kamal Thapa, spokesperson of the Madhesh Province Police Office. He stated that, according to the study of the security committees of all districts in the province, they have classified the stations as highly sensitive.

It has been reported that out of 32 constituencies for the House of Representatives elections in Madhes Province, 1,246 polling stations have been designated as extremely sensitive, 755 polling stations as sensitive, and 159 polling stations as normal, in terms of security sensitivity.

 

 

Nepali nationals in Qatar urged to stay vigilant and follow safety measures

The Nepali Embassy in Qatar has urged the Nepali nationals living in the country to adhere to the security protocols set forth by the Qatari government. 

In light of the recent events in West Asia, the Embassy has advised all Nepalis in Qatar to stay vigilant and prioritize their safety. 

Issuing a statement on Sunday, the Embassy has emphasized the importance of following the security recommendations and directives from Qatari officials, which include remaining indoors, taking necessary precautions, and refraining from believing rumors and unverified information from unfamiliar sources. 

Additionally, it has requested that individuals refrain from sharing unverified information, news, and 'video clips', and to consistently monitor official announcements and emergency alerts, while maintaining regular communication with the embassy. 

The Embassy has confirmed that it is in constant contact with Nepalis in Qatar via telephone and other communication means. 

Currently, there are approximately 360, 000 Nepali workers in Qatar. 

Tensions in West Asia have escalated following Iran's retaliation against a joint military operation conducted by the United States and Israel on Saturday.

 

 

Nepal calls for restraint amid rising tensions in Middle East

The government of Nepal has expressed deep concern over the evolving situation in the Middle East, saying that it is closely monitoring the developments. 

In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday, Nepal called on all sides to exercise maximum restraint amid rising regional tensions. 

The government emphasized that differences should be resolved through diplomacy and dialogue rather than military action.

Furthermore, Nepal stressed that the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all states must be respected in line with the UN Charter and international law. 

Nepal underscored the need to uphold the rules-based international order and the responsibility to maintain global peace and security. 

Election materials transported to Humla by helicopters

The staff deployed at four polling stations in Humla and the election materials including ballot papers will be transported by helicopters.

The staff deployed at the Bhrikuti Basic School, Jang in Himalpariko Village Limi of Namkha Rural Municipality-6, Sunkhani Basic School, Halji, Himshikhar Basic School, and Himalaya Basic School, Chala in the same rural municipality-4 will be transported by helicopters, shared Chief District Officer Tek Kumar Regmi.

According to him, since the transport services were disrupted due to snowfall at all these four polling stations, 20 staff members, 80 security personnel including Nepal Army, Election Police, Nepal Police, and 102 staff members and election materials including ballot papers will be transported by helicopters.

The commission is going to use helicopters as the two border crossings to Limi, Nara and Nyalu Lake, are closed due to snow. Similarly, the road to Chala is also blocked due to snow, so helicopters are going to be arranged for the polling station. 

There are 293 voters in Sunkhani Primary School polling station Halji in Limi, 247 in Bhrikuti Primary School polling station, Jang, 132 in Himshikhar Primary School, Til and 159 in Himalaya Primary School Chala.
