Bagmati Province govt to provide Rs 1.5 million assistance for quake victims

The Bagmati Province government is to provide Rs 1.5 million assistance for the immediate and effective rescue, treatment, relief and rehabilitation of the earthquake victims.

Issuing a statement on Saturday, Internal Affairs and Law Minister of the Province Ganga Narayan Shrestha also urged the civil society and various non-governmental organizations to provide necessary assistance in the time of disaster.

“In this time of disaster, the Bagmati Province will be with the Karnali Province government. The Bagmati Province government expressed its sadness over the loss of lives and properties due to the earthquake that hit Jajarkot district on Friday night,” reads the statement.

“We expressed our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and wished for the speedy recovery of the injured,” according to the statement.  

 

NC to provide Rs 5 mln to govt fund for rescue and rehabilitation of quake victims

Nepali Congress has decided to provide Rs 5 million to the government fund for the rescue, relief and rehabilitation of earthquake victims. 

Congress Chief Secretary Kirshna Prasad Paudel said that the party has decided to provide Rs 5 million to the government fund for the rescue, relief and rehabilitation of quake victims in Jajarkot and Rukum West.

“An earthquake measuring 6.4 in the Richter scale that struck Jajarkot district at 11: 47 pm on Friday, leaving hundreds of people dead and injured and destroying property worth millions has left the entire Nepali people sad,” reads a statement issued by the Nepali Congress. “In this time, the Nepali Congress appealed to the government and political parties among others to unite together to face this disaster.”

The Congress has also appealed to all those living in the country and abroad to join the campaign of humanitarian service with an open heart.

 

 

India stands in solidarity with people of Nepal: PM Modi

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday expressed his grief over the loss of lives and properties due to the earthquake in Nepal.

He said that India stands in solidarity with the people of Nepal and is ready to extend all possible assistance.

“Our thoughts are with the bereaved families and we wish the injured a quick recovery,” the Indian Prime Minister said.

The death toll has risen to 128 after an earthquake measuring 6.4 in the Richter scale jolted west Nepal on Friday night.

President appeals for rescue and relief of earthquake survivors

President Ram Chandra Paudel has expressed sadness over the loss of human lives and property in the earthquake that took place in Jajarkot and Rukum West last night.

According to the Office of the President, he has appealed to the government and all concerned to ensure effective rescue and relief work in the quake-affected areas.

An earthquake measuring 6.4 in the Richter scale occurred on Friday night with its epicenter at Ramidanda in Barekot Rural Municipality-1 of Jajarkot.
