PMĀ Oli leaving for China tomorrow

 

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is leaving on an official visit to the People's Republic of China on Monday.

At the friendly invitation of Chinese Premier Li Qiang, the Prime Minister is visiting China from December 2 to 5.

During the visit, Prime Minister Oli is scheduled to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing.

He will also hold bilateral talks with his Chinese counterpart Li and exchange views on matters of mutual interest, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Prime Minister will also hold a meeting with Chairperson of the Standing Committee of National People's Congress in China, Zhao Leji.

He will be a key note speaker at an event to be held in Peking University in Beijing.

Moreover, the Head of the Government is scheduled to address the Nepal-China Business Forum, which is being jointly hosted by the Embassy of Nepal in Beijing, the China Council for Promotion of International Trade and the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry.

The Prime Minister is being accompanied by his spouse Radhika Shakya. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated that the Nepali delegation to be led by the Prime Minister will also include Foreign Minister Dr Arzu Rana Deuba, PM's Chief Advisor Bishnu Prasad Rimal, PM's Economic and Development Advisor Dr Yuba Raj Khatiwada, members of parliament, high level government officials, representatives of private sector and media persons.

The Prime Minister and his delegation are scheduled to return Kathmandu on December 5. 

By-elections: DPM Singh casts vote

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Urban Development, Prakash Man Singh, cast ballot at the Yubak Secondary School polling station at Kathmandu Metropolitan City- 16 in the local-level by-elections today.

In his brief remarks after casting vote, he said all the voters should enthusiastically take part in the voting to make democracy stronger as election is the beautiful aspect of democracy.

By-election is being held at KMC-16 today as the post of the Ward Chair fell vacant with the death of Ward Chair Mukunda Rijal who was elected from the Nepali Congress.

 

Voting begins for local level by-elections

Voting for the local level by-elections started this morning.

The voting began at 7 am, and it will continue till 5 pm today.

A total of 2,26,799 people are exercising their voting rights in the by-elections being held for various 41 posts. The by-elections are conducted for the posts of a mayor and a deputy mayor at the municipality; two chairs and four vice chairs of rural municipalities, and 33 ward chairs totaling 41 posts.

Any one of the official documents from among voter's ID card, citizenship certificate, National ID card, passport, PAN or driving license can be produced to cast the vote.

A total of 376 candidates from various 20 political parties and independent ones are in the fray.

The EC has urged all concerned voting officers and employees to ensure a free and fair atmosphere for voting. Similarly, cooperation from political parties, voters, media and observers has been sought for the successful conduct of the election.

 

PM Oli leaving for China on December 2

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is paying an official visit to the People’s Republic of China from December 2-5 at the cordial invitation of Li Qiang, Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China.

The Prime Minister will be accompanied by his spouse Radha Shakya.

The Prime Minister is Scheduled to meet with Xi Jinping, President of the People’s Republic of China in Beijing, reads a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Prime Minister Oli will hold bilateral talks with his Chinese counterpart Li Qiang and exchange views on matters of mutual interest.

The Prime Minister will hold a meeting with Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of the People’s Republic of China.

During the visit, the Prime Minister will deliver a keynote address at Peking University.

The Prime Minister will address the Nepal-China Business Forum, which is being jointly hosted by the Embassy of Nepal in Beijing, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade and Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, according to the statement.

The entourage of the Prime Minister will comprise Foreign Minister Arzu Rana Deuba, Chief Advisor to the Prime Minister Bishnu Prasad Rimal, Economic and Development Advisor to the Prime Minister Yuba Raj Khatiwada, members of the Parliament, high-ranking government officials, representatives of the private sector and media persons.

The Prime Minister and his delegation will return to Kathmandu on December 5.
