CIAA files graft case against PADT former member secretary Pradeep Dhakal
The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority filed a corruption case at the Special Court against Pradeep Dhakal, the then member secretary of the Pashupati Area Development Trust. The corruption watchdog on Monday filed a corruption case against Dhakal on the charge of illegally amassing property amounting to Rs 1.44 million. The Commission claimed that the property details he presented in accordance with the prevailing law while holding a public post are nonpareil and unnatural. In addition to that, the CIAA claimed that he acquired the property illegally by misusing the public post.
Government is sensitive towards protecting national interest: PM Dahal
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal asserted that the incumbent government was sensitive towards defending national interest. Responding to the queries raised by lawmakers in today's meeting of the House of Representatives, the PM reiterated that the government was committed towards defending national sovereignty, national independence, territorial integrity, border security and national unity. He said that a greater national unity was forged in Nepal concerning national independence, sovereignty and border security related issues, reiterating the government was sensitive and effortful to protect the national interests. PM Dahal said that the government had accorded highest priority to make international border security stronger and more effective and for that, he added, regular repair and maintenance of the border pillars, further strengthening of the existing border outposts and setting up new ones would be carried out. Of the 250 Border Outposts set up in the bordering area for border security, physical infrastructures were built for 128 while construction of 10 new Border Outposts would be completed within the end of the current fiscal year, the PM appraised the Parliament. In both Zero Hour and Special Hour, the PM reiterated that the government was sensitive towards national welfare. "The government has always been effortful to secure welfare of the country and country people," the Head of the Government said. Furthermore, he said that the government was committed towards addressing the issues of public's concerns and to give impetus to development works. Also, the government was determined to further strengthen the relationship between the government and people.
All sides should remain alert for emergency preparedness: Minister Basnet
Minister for Health and Population Mohan Bahadur Basnet has said that all sides should always remain alert for emergency preparedness. Addressing a program of Emergency Medical Team (EMT) here today, Minister Basnet said, "We all should always remain alert for emergency preparedness. I want to urge all sectors of the country to be involved in disaster preparedness." He asked the health workers to pay attention to ensure rights to health guaranteed by the Constitution. Similarly, World Health Organization (WHO) Representative to Nepal, Dr Rajesh Sambhajirao Pandav, said that EMT was a group formed to provide effective service immediately to the country and people during the disaster. He added the team should be active to save the life of the people making coordination on time during emergency periods. Director General of the Department of Health Services, Dr Dipendra Raman Singh, said 25 hospitals across the country are in position to provide 'Hub Satellite' emergency service. Stating that the workshop was organized to bring 'EMT' into implementation, Chief of Quality Assurance and Monitoring Division Dr Madan Upadhyay said that the discussion would be held for two days on emergency preparedness for disaster.
CPN (MC) calls CC meeting for July 8
The CPN (Maoist Center) has called its Central Committee meeting for July 8. Around 700 party central and alternative central members, and office bearers of party commissions and provinces will take part in the meeting to be held in Nepal Academy, Kathmandu, said secretary of the party central office, Dor Prasad Upadhyay. The party Central Committee has a total of 588 members (386 central and 202 alternative central ones). It has three commissions, seven geographical and three non-geographical provinces. The party has urged the subordinate bodies to clear arrears and levies on time. The meeting is expected to discuss the issue of a unity among political parties with the same ideologies and that relating to the newly formed socialist front, he said. The subject of launching a new campaign and an action plan to effectively connect the party with people will also be discussed, Upadhyay said. Similarly, other agenda of the meeting are the party membership renewal and management and the allocation of duties and responsibilities of party leaders, he said.
