Lawmaker Singh demands White Paper on funds from donor agencies
Lawmaker Amaresh Kumar Singh has demanded the government unveil details of funds that entered the country through the non-governmental and international non-governmental sectors. He also wanted the government to prove the utility of such funds.
He demanded the details during a Parliament meeting held on Monday.
The House should have access to information about the size of funds that entered into the country through the NGOs and INGOs, Singh said.
He urged the government to issue a White Paper regarding this. He also questioned the government about the reason behind Nepal falling on the grey list of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF)
Lawmaker Roshan Karki condemned the rape on a 12-year-old girl from Achham allegedly by her adult relative while she had been in India. He demanded the guarantee of justice for the survivor.
Similarly, lawmaker Dhruba Bahadur Khanal drew the government's attention to the need for timely auctions of goods seized for evading taxes.
"Sugar worth Rs five million has been stored in Maheshpur and it is likely to take Rs 5, 000 to destroy in absence of the lack of its auction on time. Other customs points in the country feature the shortage of seized goods including motor vehicles that are already rusty,” he said.
Similarly, lawmaker Ranju Kumari Jha stressed the need of focusing on to sort out disputes surfaced during an implementation of the Pathibhara Cable Car Project in Taplejung.
Speaking at a zero hour, she called for undertaking the development endevours through cooperation with the locals rather than ignoring them.
She also urged the locals to be aware of the need for development. She wanted the government to take necessary actions to withdraw Nepal from the FATF grey list.
CIAA 34th Annual Report tabled in Parliament
The 34th Annual Report of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), 2080/81 has been tabled in the House of Representatives.
Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung, on behalf of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli presented the report in the HoR session today.
PM Oli calls Cabinet meeting at 6 pm today
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has called a Cabinet meeting on Monday.
The Prime Minister’s Secretariat informed that the meeting has been called at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar at 6 pm.
Though the meeting is regular, a decision can be made on some issues, a minister said.
Three levels of govt to coordinate in execution of urban and waste management policy
The federal, provincial and local levels are to establish coordination in the implementation of the National Urban Policy 2081 BS and the Solid Waste Management National Policy 2079 BS.
A meeting of the Urban Development Committee chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Urban Development Minister, Prakash Man Singh, on Sunday took the decision to this effect.
Ministers from all the seven provincial governments, mayors of municipalities and chairpersons of the rural municipalities, the chairperson of the Kathmandu Valley Mayors' Forum, and heads of the departments under the Ministry of Urban Development were present in the meeting.
The meeting discussed the Bill Related to the High-powered Bagmati Civilization Conservation and Development Committee, the Bill Prepared for Amending the Town Development Fund Act, 2053 BS, the Bill Designed to Amend and Consolidate the Laws Related to Urban Development.
DPM and Urban Development Minister Singh on the occasion underscored on deepening the coordination and interrelations among the three tiers of the government to strengthen federalism.
This is the second meeting of the Urban Development Committee. Its first meeting was held on February 28, 2024.
