PM Karki to expand Cabinet for third time today
Prime Minister Sushila Karki is preparing to expand the Cabinet for the third time on Sunday.
According to a source at the Prime Minister’s Office, Khagendra Sunar, Ganapati Lal Shrestha, Dr Sudha Sharma Gautam and Bablu Gupta will be appointed as the ministers.
Dr Sharma will be appointed as the Minister for Health and Population, Sunar as Minister for Labour, Employment and Social Security, Shrestha as Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation and Gupta as Minister for Youth and Sports.
Anil Kumar Sinha has currently been looking after the Ministry of Land Management.
The President’s Office informed that the newly appointed ministers will take the oath of office and secrecy at Sheetal Niwas today itself.
Earlier, a seven-member Cabinet was formed.
DR Congo reshuffles cabinet amid eastern security crisis
The Democratic Republic of the Congo has announced a cabinet reshuffle as the country grapples with worsening violence in its eastern region. Presidential spokesperson Tina Salama said the new line-up, unveiled Friday, aims to ensure efficiency, credibility and regional balance.
The 54-member cabinet, only slightly smaller than the previous one, retains Judith Suminwa Tuluka as prime minister and includes opposition leader Adolphe Muzito as vice prime minister for the budget, according to Xinhua.
President Felix Tshisekedi had pledged earlier this year to form a “government of national unity” to help contain the decades-long conflict in the east, driven by ethnic tensions, militias and rebel groups such as the M23.
Cabinet endorses USD 2 million provided by ADB
The government has decided to accept USD 2 million (around Rs 277 million) for the 'emergency flood rescue plan-2024' to be provided by the Asian Development Bank under the 'Asia Pacific Disaster Response Fund'.
Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung, shared it while informing about the Cabinet decisions made on February 10.
An approval in principle was given on preparedness on financial management for the construction of reservoir-based Dudhkoshi hydropower project of 670 MW.
The government also decided to scrap the work procedure on punishment and pardon, case on hold, and change-2071; endorse the memorandum of understanding on visa permit to those except diplomatic officials and service passport holders between Nepal and Ukraine; and approve the MoU on diplomatic study and cooperation in training to be signed by the Institute of Foreign Affairs, Nepal and the Diplomatic Academy, Oman.
A 15-bed basic hospital run by Athbiskot Municipality of Dailekh district would be handed over to Karnali Academy of Health Sciences for its management.
Also endorsed by the Cabinet is the Insurance Regulation, 2081 BS.
Acting Chief Secretary at Lumbini Province, Baburam Adhikari, has been promoted by the government to the post of gazetted special class officer under Nepal administration service.
Secretary at Finance Ministry Dr Ram Prasad Ghimire has been transferred to Office of the President, while Secretary at President's Office, Narayan Prasad Duwadi to the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority, and Secretary at the CIAA Ghanshyam Upadhyay to the Finance Ministry.
A total of 17 joint secretaries (gazetted first class officers) have also been transferred by the government.
Cabinet endorses annual budget for fiscal year 2024/25
The Cabinet meeting on Tuesday endorsed the annual budget for the fiscal year 2081/82 (2024/25).
The budget is being presented by Finance Minister Barshaman Pun at the joint meeting of the Federal Parliament.
Minister of Communications and Information Technology and Government Spokesperson Rekha Sharma shared that the meeting of the Council of Ministers held at Singha Durbar has decided to endorse the budget.
The laws related to the budget will also be presented in the Parliament.
Cabinet endorses policies and programs for fiscal year 2024/25
The Cabinet on Tuesday endorsed the annual policies and programs for the fiscal year 2024/25.
A Cabinet meeting held this morning endorsed the government’s policies and programs.
After the meeting, government spokesperson and Minister for Communications and Information Technology Rekha Sharma informed that the policies and programs have been endorsed.
President Ram Chandra Paudel is scheduled to present the government’s policies and programs at 3 pm today.
Cabinet expanded in Karnali Province
A Cabinet has been expanded in Karnali Province nearly after three weeks.
CPN-UML leader Yam Lal Kandel was appointed as the Karnali Province Chief Minister with the support of CPN (Maoist Center) and CPN (Unified Socialist) on April 9.
Karnali Province Chief Tilak Pariyar expanded the Cabinet at the recommendation of Chief Minister Kandel.
According to Office of the Province Chief, CPN (Maoist Center)'s Mahendra KC, Bir Bahadur Shahi, Durga Bahadur Rawat and Ran Singh Pariyar have been appointed as Minister for Economic Affairs and Planning, Minister for Social Development, Minister for Industry, Tourism, Forest and Environment and Minister for Water Resources and Energy Development respectively.
Similarly, CPN (UML)'s Sher Bahadur Budha has been inducted in the cabinet as the Minister for Physical Infrastructures, Binod Kumar Shah as Minister for Land Management, Agriculture and Cooperative.
Gamata BK has been appointed as Minister of State for Physical Infrastructure and Urban Development. However, CM Kandel has kept the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law with himself.
Newly appointed ministers except Binod Kumar Shah have taken the oath of office and secrecy today itself.
PM Dahal expands Cabinet, inducts two ministers from JSP
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal expanded his Cabinet by inducting two ministers on Sunday.
Upendra Yadav and Nawa Kishor Sah of Janata Samajbadi Party have become ministers in the Dahal Cabinet.
Yadav has been appointed as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Health and Population and Sah as Minister for Forest.
President Ram Chandra Paudel administered the oath of office and secrecy amidst a function at Sheetal Niwas.
With the appointment of two ministers, the current Council of Ministers now has 22 members.
PM Dahal expands Cabinet, newly appointed ministers sworn in
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal expanded his Cabinet on Wednesday.
The newly appointed ministers take the oath of office and secrecy amidst a function at Sheetal Niwas as per Article 80 of the Constitution, the President’s Office said.
President Ram Chandra Paudel, Vice-President Ram Sahaya Yadav, Prime Minister Dahal and Speaker Devraj Ghimire among others were present in the swearing in ceremony.
The CPN-UML got eight ministries in the Dahal-led government.
Raghubir Mahaseth has been appointed as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Padam Giri as Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Hari Upreti as Minister for Defense, Bhagwati Chaudhary as Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizens, Rajendra Rai as Minister for Drinking Water, Damodar Bhandari as Minister for Commerce and Supplies, Jwala Kumari Sah as Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development and Balram Adhikari as Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation.

Similarly, the CPN (Maoist Center) got six ministries including the Prime Minister.
Narayan Kaji Shrestha has been appointed as Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs, Barsha Man Pun as Minister for Finance, Rekha Sharma as Minister Communications and Information Technology, Shakti Bahadur Basnet as Minister for Energy, Water Resource and Irrigation and Hit Bahadur Tamang as Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation.
Likewise, the Rastriya Swatantra Party got the responsibility of four ministries including Home.
President Rabi Lamichhane has been appointed as Minister for Home, Vice-President DP Aryal as Minister for Labor, Employment and Social Security, Sumana Shrestha as Minister for Education, Science and Technology and Biraj Bhakta Shrestha as Minister for Youth and Sports.

Bhanu Bhakta Joshi has been appointed as Minister for Federal Affairs and General Administration and Dhan Bahadur Buda as Minister for Urban Development from the CPN (Unified Socialist).
The new power equation formed on Monday includes UML, Maoist Center, Rastriya Swatantra Party and Janata Samajbadi Party.
They were also trying to rope in other parties as well.
Padam Giri from UML, Hitman Tamang from Maoist Center and DP Aryal from Rastriya Swatantra Party had taken the oath of office and secrecy as ministers without portfolio on Monday.
Meanwhile, though Janata Samajbadi Party leader Mohammad Istiyak Rai supported the new ruling alliance, he said that it has not been decided whether to join the government or not.

Cabinet expanded in Koshi Province, senior member Mandal becomes state minister
The Cabinet has been expanded in Koshi Province on Wednesday.
Chief Minister Uddhav Thapa appointed a senior member of the Province Assembly Gayananda Mandal as the state minister.
Mandal has got the responsibility of the Minister of State for Industries, Agriculture and Cooperatives.
Chief Minister Thapa in the presence of Province Chief Parshuram Khapung administered the oath of office and secrecy to Mandal amidst a program this morning.
Currently, Koshi Province has no Speaker.
The post of Speaker has been lying vacant after Speaker Baburam Gautam participated in the government after resigning from this post.
Gautam is looking after the Economic Affairs and Planning Ministry. He was elected as the Province Assembly member from the CPN (Maoist Center).
The process of choosing a news Speaker has not been taken ahead.
