AMN honors players participating in 16th World Championship of Yogasana Sports

Annapurna Media Network has honored the players of Nepal taking part in the 16th World Championship of Yogasana Sports 2025 to be held in Malaysia.

Annapurna Media Network General Manager Manoj Basnet honored them amidst a program held at the AMN’s headquarters in Tinkune on Wednesday.

Five children from the Namuna Children’s Home operated by the Women's Development and Child Awareness Center in Urlabari, Morang, are participating in the competition.

Kiran Magar, Swachha Thapa, Chandani Sewa Darji, Jaya Chaudhary and Sundar Karki are taking part in the competition from the Namuna Children’s Home.

During the National Yoga Games, Kiran and Swachha had won gold medals and Chandani, Jaya and Sundar won silver medals.

“We honored them to boost their energy so that they can represent the country through yoga and sports,” General Manager Basnet said.

On the occasion, Mina Devi Baral, Chairperson of the Women’s Development and Child Awareness Center, said that it is a proud moment for them that the children from the orphanage home are introducing the country to the world through yoga and sports.

There are 68 children in the Namuna Children’s Home.

 

 

Hotline service receives over 1,900 complaints in one month

The hotline service (1151) launched by the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation to resolve electricity related problems has become effective.

The hotline service is receiving a large number of complaints. It was launched in order to resolve problems like dilly dallying in work, power cut without notice, irregular meter reading as well as other unnecessary hassles. 

Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Dipak Khadka, directed to address the people's complaints filed at the hotline as soon as possible.  

Ram Krishna Poudel, who is working at hotline service, shared that they have been resolving the problems informing the chief of the concerned offices and distribution centres soon after receiving the complaints. 

Total 1,902 complaints were registered at the hotline service from February 13-March 13 while more than 1,000 complaints have already been registered till March 31, he added. Most of the complaints received at hotline service are related to disruption in power supply and low voltage. 

The service recipients also use Facebook and viber to file complaints and additional human resources have been deputed to address the complaints. 

 

World Autism Awareness Day being observed today

The World Autism Awareness Day (WAAD) is being observed globally today by organizing a variety of awareness related programmes. 

This Day has been observed on April 2 every year since 2007 at the call of the United Nations. 

The Day is marked in order to promote the full realization of human rights and fundamental freedoms for autistic individuals, ensuring their equal participation in the society. 

UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, said the Day would be useful to achieve sustainable development goals and to fulfill health related commitments. 

In a message on this Day, Guterres stressed the need of providing health, education and employment opportunities to autistic individuals.

 

TIA comes into operation for 18 hours from today

Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) has come into operation for 18 hours from today.

Earlier, the airport reduced the operation hours to 10 hours for five months for the runway upgrading works. With the revised schedule, the airport is to remain open from 6:00 am to 12:00 midnight, TIA General Manager Jagannath Niraula said. 

Ge said that works to construct a link way from the Taxiway to the runway have been completed. 

However, the constructions of a parallel taxiway are underway. 

Under the Air Transport Capacity Enhancement Project under the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal, constructions of South-West Parallel Taxiway, the International Apron towards the northeast and the Hangar Apron towards the east are going on. 

It is estimated to cost around Rs 15 billion to complete the project that has so far reported 90 percent progress.   

However, it is expected to take one and half years more to complete the entire project.
