3 killed in Sindhuli jeep accident
Three persons died when a jeep they were travelling in met with an accident at Nakkale in Tinpatan Rural Municipality-5 of Sindhuli district on Friday.
The identities of the deceased are yet to be ascertained.
The jeep (Bagmati Province-01-026 Cha-0456) carrying vegetables met with the accident this afternoon, DSP Manoj Lama of the District Police Office, Sindhuli said.
He said that police personnel and locals are carrying out rescue operations.
Nepal records 14 new Covid-19 cases on Friday
Nepal reported 14 new Covid-19 cases on Friday.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 1, 778 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which 13 returned positive. Likewise, 993 people underwent antigen tests, of which one was tested positive.
The Ministry said that no one died of virus in the last 24 hours. The Ministry said that 19 infected people recovered from the disease.
As of today, there are 243 active cases in the country.
Traffic fines could be paid through QR code
People no longer have to wait in hours or wander to search the designated bank to pay the fine for traffic rules violations.
The Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office now has gone digital to collect fines from violators through QR code.
The 'QR Scan Pay Fine and Withheld Document' has come into effect starting Thursday to ease procedural hassles.
The service, launched in collaboration with Kumari Bank Limited, was jointly inaugurated by SSP Umeshraj Joshi and Bank's digital chief Anil Tamrakar.
SSP Joshi said that new technology was being adopted in the traffic management system of Nepal which is believed to further facilitate the road users.
Similarly, Bank's digital chief Joshi pledged to continue collaboration with the traffic police for better and swift services in the coming days.
5 held with 2. 33 kg gold from TIA
Police have arrested five persons in possession of 2. 33 kg gold from the Tribhuvan International Airport on Thursday.
DSP and Information Officer Himalaya Kumar Shrestha said that the gold was recovered from the purse of Bhim Kumar Mobale and Suman Tamang.
Based on the duo's information, police have also apprehended Rajesh Rai (28) of Limchungbung Rural Municipality-2, Udayapur, taxi driver Hem Bahadur Thapa (41) and Tarakanta Chaudhary (36) of Surunga Municipalitiy-4, Saptari.
They have been handed over to the Tribhuvan International Airport Customs Office, Gauchar for further investigation.
