The district has recorded 99 cases of dengue infection of late. At least 400 had undergone tests for it. Chief of Health Office in the district Shankar Babu Adhikari said that with the surge of dengue patients, there is a growing shortage of hospital beds. Rajesh Chhetri, an official at the District Hospital, said that 11 persons were tested positive last Saturday alone. Some 200 persons visit the hospital daily for dengue test. Among them, 150 have fever. High fever, severe body ache, nausea are some common symptoms of dengue. The hospital said it was urgent to raise public awareness about dengue. Similarly, Medical Superintendent Abhinandan Tiwari suggested the patients to drink adequate liquid, and use paracetamol to reduce fever.

Various hospitals in Chitwan district report 230 cases of scrub typhus. Health Office, Chitwan said of the infected, 108 are from the district while remaining are from outside Chitwan.  Total tests conducted for the disease were 1,873. Last fiscal year, 286 tests out of 3,286, came positive to scrub typhus. Scrub typhus is caused by Orientia tsutsugamushi which is carried by mites and transmitted to humans from their bites. Fever, chills, reddish eyes, coughing, headache, muscle pain, joint pain, rash and a dark, scab-like region at the site of the bite are the symptoms of disease. Similarly, the district reports 1,155 cases of dengue as of today of the current fiscal year. Of them, 799 are within from the district, 299 are from outside the districts and addresses of 177 are yet to be ascertained.  

Eight persons died and five others were injured when a landslide triggered by torrential rainfall buried two houses in Chhayanath Rural Municipality-11 of Mugu district on Sunday. The deceased have been identified as Gaurikala Bohara (82), Sushmita Bhagri (19), Hojali Bhagri (30),  Bir Bahadur Bhagri (54), Chakra Bir Bohara (15), Sakka Bahadur Sawat (20), Krishna Sawat (20), and Hajira Bhagri (60). Ward Chairman Kunjuma Kumai said that locals are searching for those buried in the landslide. DSP Subash Humal of the District Police Office, Mugu said that security personnel have not been able to reach the incident site as the landslides and floods washed away all the roads and bridges connecting to the place. Locals said that hundreds of families of Bhambada, Dhuma, Karkibada Pina, Tuma, Balai Ghuir, Jhyari, Topla, and Kotali of Chhayanath Rara Municipality have been displaced following the water-induced disaster.  

Bhimdutta Highway has been obstructed in Kailali's Godabari Municipality-4 due to incessant rainfall and subsequent landslide. DSP Bed Prakash Joshi said that a three-member police team led by ASI Dil Bahadur Bogati has been deputed there. Efforts are underway to clear the debris and resume the vehicular movement, Joshi added. The rainfall has caused damages to the rural road of Sudurpaschim Province and also obstructed vehicular movement to and from seven mountain districts.
