Third Investment Summit kicks off today, govt to showcase 151 lucrative projects
The Third Investment Summit is beginning today. It is being organized to bring in foreign direct investment and launch development projects for the country's economic progress.
The government is dangling 151 projects. The event to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal will be attended by over 1600 investors from 55 plus countries.
Nepal Investment Board has informed that there will be 23 exhibition stalls along with detailed information on the projects in the conference. Similarly, concept notes would be called for 19 projects.
The two-day international event features 11 parallel sessions on Monday. The first day witness’s inauguration session and two major sessions.
The investors will be provided opportunities to interact with PM Dahal and Finance Minister Barsha Man Pun in course of the summit.
Private sector, a partner of economic development, is the co-organizer of the event.
Several noted international figures including Indian Minister for Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal; State Minister for UK Asia Pacific Affairs, Anne-Marie Trevelyan; Minister of State for Development and Africa, Andrew Mitchell; UNCTAD Secretary General Rebeca Grynspan; Chairman of China International Development Cooperation Agency, Luo Zhaohui are addressing the summit.
Similarly, Vice President Chair of ADB, Yingming Yang; Acting Vice Chair of Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, Rajit Mishra; Indian Ambassador to Nepal, Naveen Shreevastav; Executive Director of ITC India, Supratim Datta, and Senior Vice Chair of US Chamber of Commerce, Atul Keshap, also in the list to address it.
The event will also be addressed by former Prime Minister and major opposition leader Sher Bahadur Deuba, Finance Minister and summit convention committee director, Barsha Man Pun, and leaders of Nepali business community.
Gold price increases by Rs 1, 400 per tola on Friday
The price of gold has increased by Rs 1,400 per tola in the domestic market on Friday.
According to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association, the precious yellow metal is being traded at Rs 137, 200 per tola today. It was traded at Rs 135, 800 per tola on Thursday.
Meanwhile, tejabi gold is being traded at Rs 136, 550 per tola. It was traded at Rs 135, 150 per tola.
Similarly, the price of silver has increased by Rs 20 and is being traded at Rs 1,675 per tola today.
17th Nepal-China (Tibet) Trade Fair on April 29
The 17th Nepal-China (Tibet) Economic and Trade Fair is going to be held in Kathmandu on April 29.
The trade fair is held every two years in one another country as per the agreement reached between the government of Nepal and the commerce department of the Tibet Autonomous Region of China in 1990.
According to the Trade and Export Promotion Center, the main objective of the fair is to further expand the bilateral economic and trade relations between Nepal and China (Tibet).
Around 125 businesspersons including a five-member high-level delegation will participate in the fair. The official delegation will be led by the Vice Chair of the Tibet Autonomous Region Government of China, Long Fukuan.
There will be 50 exhibition stalls on behalf of China (Tibet) in the fair, including herbs, agricultural products, modern agricultural tools, tea, electrical appliances, household appliances, carpets, beverages, handicrafts, incense, two-wheelers, three-wheelers, four-wheelers, electric vehicles and beauty products.
Likewise, there will be 15 exhibition stalls on behalf of Nepal, including herbs, coffee, tea, handicrafts/carpentry, metalwork, carpet, pashmina and other products.
The fair will be open from 10 am to 6 pm and entry is free.
Nepse plunges by 3. 24 points on Thursday
The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) plunged by 3. 24 points to close at 1,965.93 points on Thursday.
Similarly, the sensitive index dropped by 0. 37 points to close at 348. 18 points.
A total of 6,312,552-unit shares of 303 companies were traded for Rs 2. 36 billion.
Meanwhile, Multipurpose Finance Company Limited (MPFL) was the top gainer today with its price surging by 9. 99 percent. Likewise, Sabaiko Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (SABSL) was the top loser with its price dropped by 6. 09 percent.
At the end of the day, the total market capitalization stood at Rs 3. 11 trillion.
