UML to hold election-centric demonstration in Kathmandu today
The CPN-UML is organizing a public demonstration and mass assembly in Kathmandu today as part of its election campaign.
The election-centric demonstration will begin at Bhrikutimandap this afternoon under the coordination of the UML Bagmati Province Committee. The rally will pass through Pragyabhawan and converge into a corner assembly at Kamaladi, Bagmati Province Committee Chairman Kailash Dhungel stated.
It has been said that UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli is scheduled to address the gathering, which will start at 12 noon.
The Bagmati Province Committee is set to start a special election campaign for the House of Representatives elections scheduled for March 5.

Bayern demolish hosts Leipzig in stunning 5-1 comeback win
Leaders Bayern Munich powered back from a goal down, scoring three goals in six minutes, to crush hosts RB Leipzig 5-1 in the Bundesliga on Saturday and maintain their 11-point advantage at the top, Reuters reported.
The visitors, for whom Jamal Musiala made a brief substitute appearance coupled with an assist in their last goal after breaking his leg and ankle last July, scored all five goals in the second half to maintain their unbeaten run in the league this season and moved up to 50 points.
It was only the second time that Bayern scored five goals after trailing at halftime in a Bundesliga away game. The only previous occasion was in 1976 in a 6-5 win at VfL Bochum, according to Reuters.

Arsenal took a seven-point lead at the top of the Premier League after a scoreless draw with Nottingham Forest on Saturday following an exhilarating 2-0 derby victory for Manchester United that dealt a devastating blow to Manchester City's title hopes, Reuters reported.
Arsenal could have gone nine points clear with a win at Forest, but Sean Dyche's side fought tooth and nail to secure the draw, becoming only the second team to prevent Mikel Arteta's side from scoring in the Premier League this season.

Chair Oli to contest HoR elections from Jhapa-5
CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli will contest the House of Representatives elections scheduled for March 5 from Jhapa-5.
Deputy General Secretary Lekhraj Bhatt said the party’s Secretariat meeting held on Saturday decided to field Oli as the party’s candidate from the constituency.
Syrian army moves east of Aleppo after Kurdish forces withdraw
The Syrian army is moving into areas east of Aleppo city, after Kurdish forces started a withdrawal, BBC reported.
Syrian troops have been spotted entering Deir Hafer, a town about 50km (30 miles) from Aleppo.
On Friday, the Kurdish Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) militia announced it would redeploy east of the Euphrates river. This follows talks with US officials, and a pledge from Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa to make Kurdish a national language, according to BBC.
Ugandan leader extends 40-year rule after winning contested poll
Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has been declared the winner of Thursday's election extending his four decades in power by another five years, BBC reported.
He gained 72% of the vote, the election commission announced, against 25% for his closest challenger Bobi Wine, who has condemned what he described as "fake results" and "ballot stuffing".
Wine has not provided any details and the authorities have not responded to his allegations, but African Union election observers said they saw "no evidence of ballot stuffing". Wine has called for non-violent protests, according to BBC.
