Bangladesh refuse to travel to India for World Cup
Bangladesh will not travel to India for the T20 World Cup next month "under current conditions" and have requested their matches be moved elsewhere, the country's cricket board has said, BBC reported.
Bangladesh bowler Mustafizur Rahman was released by his Indian Premier League teamat the request of the Indian board amid growing tensions between the countries.
That led to an emergency meeting at the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), who now say they have "formally requested" the International Cricket Council (ICC) moves all Bangladesh's matches, according to BBC.
Ex-Australia batter Martyn wakes up from coma in 'miracle' recovery
Former Australia batter Damien Martyn has woken up from an induced coma and is making a "miraculous" recovery after he was diagnosed with meningitis just over a week ago, BBC reported.
The 54-year-old, who played 67 Test matches between 1992 and 2006, fell ill late last month and was admitted to a Queensland hospital on 27 December.
In a statement on behalf of Martyn's family, close friend and former Australia teammate Adam Gilchrist said on Sunday: "It's been an unbelievable turn of events in the last 48 hours."
Danish PM tells Trump to stop 'threats' against Greenland
Denmark's prime minister has told Donald Trump to "stop the threats" about taking over Greenland, BBC reported.
Mette Frederiksen said "it makes absolutely no sense to talk about the need for the United States to take over Greenland", adding: "The US has no right to annex any of the three nations in the Danish kingdom".
Her remarks come after Katie Miller - the wife of one of Trump's aides, Stephen Miller - tweeted a map of Greenland in the colours of the American flag alongside the word "SOON".
South Korea's Lee Jae Myung to meet China's Xi in reset of relations
South Korea's President Lee Jae Myung is set to meet Chinese leader Xi Jinping as he seeks to reset frayed ties with his country's biggest trading partner, BBC reported.
Regional security and Beijing's unofficial ban on Korean pop culture are also on the agenda for Monday's meeting, which is their second summit since November, when Xi visited South Korea.
Given what a vital economic partner China is, experts say Lee is looking for assurances that it would not weaponise that relationship in the face of political tensions in the region, according to BBC.
Six killed in Hetauda jeep accident
Six persons died in a jeep accident at Jurikhet in Bhimphedi Rural Municipality-6, Hetauda district on Sunday evening.
Among nine persons injured in the accident, six persons died while receiving treatment, according to Pushkar Bogati, spokesperson at the District Police Office, Makwanpur.
The jeep (Na 1 Ja 1778) was heading towards Hetauda from Kathmandu via Bhimphedi-Kulekhani road section when the incident occurred.
Spokesperson Bogati further said the injured ones were rescued immediately and taken to Hetauda Hospital. However, the identities of the deceased are yet to be established. .
Three others injured in the incident have been undergoing treatment at the Hetauda Hospital.
RSP forms two sub-committees
The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has formed two sub-committees for party adjustment and upcoming election.
A Central Committee meeting of the party held today decided to form a candidate recommendation sub-committee under coordination of party vice-chairperson Dr Swarnim Wagle to select capable candidates for election to the House of Representatives scheduled for March 5.
The sub-committee has got the responsibility to select capable candidates and recommend for the election process, said RSP Spokesperson, Manish Jha.
Similarly, the party unity adjustment sub-committee was also formed under coordination of party general-secretary Kabindra Burlakoti with an objective of facilitating party unification and adjustment process.
The party secretary would nominate members for sub-committees.
Govt committed to book anyone disturbing other's religion: Home Minister Aryal
Representatives of three separate groups of Muslim Community held a meeting jointly with Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal at the Home Ministry today.
Office-bearers of the National Muslim Coordination Committee from Muslim Community and representatives of Federal Democratic Alliance jointly met with Home Minister Aryal and submitted memorandums.
Receiving the memorandums separately submitted by the community, he said the government and home administration were committed to bring anyone disturbing other's religious sentiments under the ambit of law.
He argued that maintaining religious faith and tolerance in province and district-level is a major need of the hour. The Home Minister laid emphasis that the provincial government, district administration office, police and other communities should play equally active roles to maintain peace and security, adding maintaining peace and security is the main responsibility of home administration.
Similarly, the representatives had drawn attention of the Home Minister towards some anti-social and activities disrupting religious tolerance increasing in the community as well as the environment where peace, law and order could be disrupted during the March 5 election.
Similarly, Mohammad Yunus Ahmar (Hasmi), Maulana Mazhrul Hasan, Sima Khan, Maulana Khursid Alam and Taj Muhammad Miya, National Assembly member Khalid Siddiqui, Kalpana Miya, Mohammad Rizwan Ansari, Bimala Ansari among others were present on the occasion.
Meanwhile, a team comprising the Mayor of Shitaganga Municipality in Arghakhanchi district, Chhabi Lal Poudel today submitted a memorandum before Home Minister Aryal at the Home Ministry, demanding establishment of an area administration office in the municipality.
Parsa District Administration calls for maintaining social harmony
The District Administration Office, Parsa has called on everyone to maintain social harmony in the district.
Bhola Dahal, Chief District Officer of Parsa, made a public appeal today urging people not to engage in any activities that disrupt social harmony.
The District Administration's appeal comes in the context of the protest demonstration organized in Birgunj today.
“Individuals involved in fomenting social, religious, or cultural animosity among each other, affecting national unity, or spreading false rumors that harm the social reputation of communities are being closely monitored on social media accounts such as Facebook, TikTok, and Instagram,” he said. “It is requested that such activities be taken seriously and that everyone remains alert and cautious.”
