One killed in police firing in Itahari
A person died in police firing during the protest of Gen Z in Itahari on Monday.
The identity of the deceased is yet to be established.
Earlier, the District Administration Office had clamped a curfew after the protest took a violent turn.
Chief District Officer Dharmendra Kumar Mishra said that they were compelled to issue a curfew order after the protesters entered the office of the Itahari Sub-Metropolitan City and resorted to arson and vandalism.
Hospitals directed to provide free, prompt treatment to injured persons
Health Minister Pradip Paudel has directed all federal hospitals under its subordination to ensure free treatment to those injured in the course of today's demonstration in Kathmandu.
The circular to this regard asks for prompt treatment of the injured in the protests waged by the 'Gen Z' group.
The Ministry directs bodies concerned for making the ambulance services further effective and its timely reach in the needy areas.
Ambulance service network in the Kathmandu Valley has been called to facilitate the transport of referral cases from the hospitals.
Likewise, the entire health professionals including doctors have been urged to get united in the handling of the injured cases ensuring access to treatment.
Death toll in Gen Z protest in New Baneshwor climbs to 14
The death toll in the Gen Z protest in New Baneshwor has reached 14.
The Ministry of Health and Population has confirmed the number of deaths.
The Ministry has informed six died at the National Trauma Center, two at the Civil Hospital, three at Everest Hospital, two at KMC, and one at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital.
According to the Ministry, around 200 injured people are being treated in various hospitals.
Similarly, the Ministry said that 20 are in critical condition.
Curfew clamped also in Butwal and Bhairahawa of Rupandehi
A curfew order has also been issued in Rupandehi district after Gen Z protests turned violent across the country.
The administration stated that a curfew order has been issued in the district in view of the situation after Gen Z youths resorted to vandalism.
Rupandehi Chief District Officer Tokraj Pandey issued a curfew order in the Bhairahawa and Butwal areas of the district from 4 pm to 10 pm.
9 Gen Z protesters killed in clash with police in New Baneshwor
At least nine Gen Z protesters killed in a clash with police in New Baneshwor on Monday.
Hospital sources said that six people died at the National Trauma Center, two at the Civil Hospital, and one at the KMC Hospital.
Among the 40 people, who were injured during the Gen Z protest, being treated at the Trauma Center, one is in critical condition. The health condition of 15 injured is normal.
Similarly, 10 injured people are being treated at the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, Maharajgunj.
Police fired water cannons, tear gas, and rubber bullets after protests in Baneshwor turned violent.
Some security personnel were also injured during the protest.
The Gen Z youths have been protesting against corruption and ban on social media.
Nepal Army mobilized in curfew-imposed areas including New Baneshwor
In the wake of Gen Z demonstration unleashing anarchy, the Nepal Army has been mobilized in the curfew-imposed areas including New Baneshwor of Kathmandu.
The Nepal Army personnel were mobilized after the Kathmandu administration-imposed curfew in a bid to tame the protest and the local security committee requested for additional support.
Spokesperson of the Nepal Army, Rajaram Basnet, informed that a contingent of Nepal Army was mobilized in the curfew-clamped areas upon the request of the local security committee in view of an anarchic demonstration that tried to enter the Parliament building.
The Gen Z demonstration began from Maitighar this morning.
The protesters breached the restricted area of New Baneshwor which houses the Federal Parliament building. The protestors committed arson and vandalism at the gate of the building, prompting Nepal Police to open blank firing and making dozens of tear gas shells.
Over 30 police personnel including a Deputy Superintendent of Police and an Inspector have been injured in the clash, while dozens of protestors received injuries.
Meanwhile, the Kathmandu District Administration has extended curfew in the district.
Indefinite curfew imposed in Pokhara
An indefinite curfew has been imposed in Pokhara after the Gen Z protest turned violent.
Chief District Officer of Kaski Rudra Devi Sharma has issued a curfew order from 2 pm today until further notice.
During the implementation of the curfew order, no movement, gathering, demonstration, rally, meeting or picketing has been allowed in the specified areas.
The curfew has been clamped from east of Shahid Chowk to Y Chowk, north-east of Milan Chowk, West of Fishtail Gate, north of Land Revenue Office, and south of Rastra Bank Chowk.
PM Oli calls emergency Cabinet meeting
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has called an emergency Cabinet meeting on Monday.
Two people have been confirmed dead and hundreds were injured during the Gen Z protest today.
Prime Minister Oli called an emergency meeting of the Council of Ministers at 6 pm in Baluwatar today to discuss this issue.
Gen Z youths have taken to the streets against corruption and ban on social media.
They have continued the protest across the country including Kathmandu.
