Similarly, the sensitive index surged by 0.21 points to close at 350. 82 points.

A total of 7,857,031-unit shares of 311 companies were traded for Rs 3. 15 billion.

Meanwhile, Shrijanshil Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (SHLB) was the top gainer today, with its price surging by 10. 00 percent.

Likewise, Manushi Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (MLBS) was the top loser as its price fell by 5.44 percent.

At the end of the day, total market capitalization stood at Rs 3. 13 trillion.

President Ram Chandra Paudel and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal had a meeting at Sheetal Niwas on Sunday.

During the meeting held this afternoon, they discussed contemporary political issues of the country, the President’s private secretariat said.

The main opposition Nepali Congress said that Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal is positive on forming a parliamentary committee on cooperative scam.

After a meeting between Prime Minister Dahal and Congress leaders today, Chief Whip Ramesh Lekhak said that the Prime Minister is positive on forming a probe committee for investigation into Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane over his alleged involvement in the misuse of cooperative funds.

During the meeting, they reiterated their demand of forming a parliamentary probe committee.

“We have been raising the issue of cooperative fraud in the Parliament. We have said that a parliamentary probe committee should be formed. The Prime Minister has taken the issue in a positive way,” he said.

Lekhak said that they would ahead as per the decisions of the Parliamentary Party committee meeting to be held on Monday.

Unidentified persons hurled a petrol bomb at a bus near Dadrahani Bridge in Bharatpur Metropolitan City-20, Chitwan on Sunday.

Deputy Superintendent Bhesh Raj Rijal, spokesperson at the District Police Office, Chitwan, said that a group of six persons hurled the petrol bomb at the bus (Bagmati Province 06001 Ka 0045) which was on its way to pick students this morning.

They told the driver and his helper to come out of the bus before throwing the Molotov cocktail.

The bus was completely destroyed in the fire.

DSP Rijal said that they are searching for the persons involved in the incident.

Nepali Congress senior leader Shekhar Koirala and General Secretary Gagan Thapa held a meeting on Sunday.

During the meeting held at the Koirala’s Secretariat in Bishalnagar, Koirala and Thapa discussed the party's internal politics, contemporary political issues and ongoing House obstruction among others.

On the occasion, Thapa informed Koirala about the meetings he had with President Ram Chandra Paudel and Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Thapa’s Secretariat said.

Koirala has been saying that the CPN-UML and Congress should move ahead together to maintain political stability in the country.

He was of the opinion that there is a need for the two major parties to move forward together to take the country towards the path of good governance, development and prosperity.

Earlier, he had floated a proposal to Oli of forming a Congress-UML alliance.

The Congress leaders have been looking for ways to break the current political equation.

Meanwhile, NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba has been saying that the old alliance between Nepali Congress and CPN (Maoist Center) should be reinstated.

The Congress has been obstructing both the Houses of the federal Parliament demanding formation of a parliamentary committee to probe cooperative fraud charges against Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane.

After the Congress warned of obstructing the next meeting as well, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Speaker Devraj Ghimire have started holding discussion with the major political parties.

The Congress obstructed the first meeting of the budget session on Friday also.

Amid obstruction, Speaker Ghimire postponed the Parliament meeting till May 14.

The government has decided to unveil its policies and programs on May 14.

President Ram Chandra Paudel will present the government’s policies and programs in the joint meeting of the House of Representatives and National Assembly.

Dr Chiranjeevi Nepal, an economic advisor to President Ram Chandra Paudel, resigned on Sunday.

Issuing a press statement today, spokesperson at the Office of the President, Shailaja Regmi Bhattarai, said that the President has accepted the resignation of Nepal.

President Paudel thanked Nepal for his service during his tenure.

A group of unidentified persons set a school bus on fire at Dadreni in Bharatpur Metropolitan City-26, Chitwan on Sunday.

The group set ablaze the bus of Seven Heaven School of Kalyanpur this morning, police said.

The bus was completely destroyed in the fire.

Further investigation into the incident is underway, said police.

The price of gold has increased by Rs 500 per tola in the domestic market on Sunday.

According to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association, the precious yellow metal is being traded at Rs 138, 400 per tola today. It was traded at Rs 135, 600 per tola on Thursday.

Similarly, tejabi gold is being traded at Rs 137, 750 per tola. It was traded at Rs 134, 950 per tola.

Meanwhile, the silver is being traded at Rs 1, 725 per tola today.
