Ginger, turmeric from Karnali Province exported to Europe
A total of 365 metric tons of dried ginger and turmeric produced in the districts of the Karnali Province in the last fiscal year found its way to Europe, according to the Ministry of Land Management, Agriculture and Cooperatives in the Karnali Province.
Ministry's Agricultural Development Officer Purna Bahadur Thapa shared that the locally grown high quality ginger and turmeric are processed and authenticated as per the international standards and are exported to various countries including Germany in Europe.
Ginger is being produced in Salyan, Rukum (Paschim) and eastern side of Surkhet while turmeric is being grown at Chinchu area in Surkhet district.
The Organic Valley collects these local products from farmers and is exporting abroad, added Thapa.
Apart from ginger and turmeric, the company is engaged in export business of other organic goods such as corn flour, lentils, bean, and nettle leaf powder among others.
The Ministry stated that of the over Rs 18.47 billion allocated by the provincial government for the agriculture sector since the formation of the province, over Rs 14 billion has been invested so far.
Newly appointed 27 High Court judges take oath of office and secrecy
Twenty-seven newly-appointed High Court judges took the oath of office and secrecy on Wednesday.
High Court Patan Chief Judge Lal Bahadur Kunwar administered the oath to the judges amidst a ceremony held at the Supreme Court in the presence of Chief Justice (CJ) of Supreme Court Prakashman Singh Raut.
The Judicial Council meeting on August 7 had decided to appoint the 27 judges and assign them to various High Court and its benches across the country.
The newly-appointed 27 judges deputed in the High Court include Yam Bahadur Budhamagar (Surkhet High Court), Gopal Prasad Bastola (Patan High Court), Giriraj Gautam (Dipayal High Court), Yubraj Gautam (Biratnagar High Court), Tej Narayan Poudel (Tulsipur High Court), Prakash Dhungana (Patan High Court), Deepak Kumar Kharel (Patan High Court), Kamal Prasad Pokharel (Janakpur High Court), Shiva Bahadur Ranabhat (Patan High Court), Basudev Neupane (Patan High Court), Dal Bahadur KC (Tulsipur High CourtD), Prakash Chandra Adhikari (Dipayal High Court)), Ramesh Prasad Gyawali (Patan High Court), Uday Prasad Bhattarai (Biratnagar High Court) and Awani Mainali Bhattarai (Patan High Court).
Similarly, the other appointees include Khadga Raj Adhikari (Dipayal High Court), Shankar Khatri (Janakpur High Court), Achyut Kuinkel (Patan High Court), Komal Bahadur Khatri (Surkhet High Court), Sharmila Bista (Patan High CourtT), Pratap Singh Thakurathi (Tulsipur High Court), Bal Krishna Gaire (Pokhara High Court), Nisha Baniya (Tulasipur High Court), Shyam Kumar Bishwokarma (Dipayal High Court) and Arun Kumat Panjiyar (Biratnagar High Court).
Deerwalk Learning Center launches app offering free online classes
Deerwalk Learning Center has launched the DLC App, providing free access to over 3,500 online lessons for students from grades 4 to 11. The app, introduced during a program at the Sagarmatha Hall of the Deerwalk Complex in Sifal on Tuesday, features lessons in Nepali, English, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. The content, developed according to the Curriculum Development Centre’s guidelines, was previously available on the center’s website.
According to Deerwalk Group Limited Chairperson Hitesh Karki, more than 5m students and teachers have already used the video lessons, and work is underway to expand the resource for grade 12 and undergraduate levels. Ashok Dalli, CEO of Edutech Nepal, said over 200,000 students and teachers from more than 300 community schools equipped with computer labs by Edutech Nepal are using the lessons.
Former Khaireni Secondary School principal Keshav Raj Ghimire highlighted the role of flipped classes during the Covid-19 pandemic, noting they helped reach millions of students.
PM Oli to address Parliament today
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is scheduled to address the meeting of the House of Representatives at 1 pm today.

Gold price drops by Rs 100 per tola on Wednesday
The price of gold has dropped by Rs 100 per tola in the domestic market on Wednesday.
According to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association, the yellow metal is being traded at Rs 196, 700 per tola today. It was traded at Rs 196, 800 per tola on Tuesday.
The price of silver, however, increased by Rs 20 and is being traded at Rs 2, 325 per tola.
Two men found dead in Sunsari
Two men were found dead in Duhabi Municipality-4, Sunsari.
Police said that they were found murdered at an under-construction house.
Locals informed police after they saw two men dead in the house.
Immediately, a police team deployed from the Area Police Office, Duhabi started an investigation, DSP Yograj Khatiwada said.
The identities of the deceased are yet to be established, police said.
The bodies have been sent to the Dharan-based BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences for postmortem, DSP Khatiwada said.
