Truck knocks down two school students in Malekhu

A truck knocked down two school students at Malekhu in Gajuri Rural Municipality-2 of Dhading district on Wednesday.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of the District Police Office Shanti Lal Prasad Jaiswal said that Nirmal Shrestha and Sanjeeb Shrestha of Siddhalek Rural Municipality-6 died on the spot when the truck hit them.

The truck (Province 02-001 B 6413) was heading towards Chitwan from Kathmandu.

Both the deceased were eighth graders at the local Bageswori Secondary School.

The irate locals obstructed the vehicular movement along the Prithvi Highway following the incident demanding compensation.

Police said that they have taken truck driver Ashok Bomjan (41) of Chandrapur Municipality-2, Rautahat under control for investigation.

Two killed as jeep falls off road in Jumla

Two persons died in a jeep accident at Chalpunera in Kanakasundari Rural Municipality-4 of Jumla on Sunday.

The tragedy occurred when the four-wheeler (Bhe 1 Ja 1099) was heading towards Mugu from Jumla at around 6: 30 am today.

District Police Office Information Officer Yam Bahadur Budha Magar said that both the driver and the assistant driver died on the spot.

The identities of the deceased are yet to be ascertained.

The jeep fell some 300 meters down the road.

Police said that they are looking into the incident.

One killed, seven injured as bus hits three moving vehicles in Pepsicola

A person died and seven others were injured when a bus hit three moving vehicles in Pepsicola, Kathmandu on Sunday.

Senior SP Rajendra Prasad Bhatta, spokesperson at the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, said that the bus heading towards Pepsicola from Jadibutti hit a Bolero Jeep, a motorbike and a scooter.

“A person died when a bus hit three moving vehicles at Pepsicola. Seven persons were injured. Further investigation into the incident is underway,” he said.

Police said that the bus (Ba 3 Kha 4848) hit the Bolero Jeep (Ba 6 Cha 5342), the motorbike (Bagmati Province 02-041 Pa 4838) and the scooter (Bagmati Province 02-037 Pa 5311) coming from the opposite direction at 8 this morning.

It has been learnt that the injured have been taken to the Minbhawan-based Civil Hospital and Pepsicola-based Motherland Hospital for treatment.

Police said that they have taken the bus driver under control for investigation.

 

Two killed, one injured as bus hits motorbike in Dhungedhara

Two persons died and a child sustained injuries when a bus hit a motorbike in Dhungedhara, Kathmandu on Sunday.

The deceased have been identified as Anita Thapa (32) of Sangachokgadi Municipality, Sindhupalchok and Ram Kumari Bharati (32), SP Kumod Dhungel said.

Both succumbed to their injuries at the Maharajgunj-based Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital during treatment.

The fatal incident occurred when the bus (Na 5 Kha 5092) belonging to the Gorkha Daraudi Transport Company Pvt. Ltd hit a motorbike (Province 2- 037 Pa 0755) coming from the opposition direction this morning.

Nine-year-old Anisha Thapa was injured in the accident and is undergoing treatment at Manmohan Hospital, Kalanki.

Police said that they have impounded the bus and arrested its driver for investigation.

 

Truck falls into Koshi River after colliding with bus, three rescued

A truck and a bus collided with each other at the Koshi Barrage Bridge on the border of Sunsari and Saptari on Friday.

Police said that the truck (Me 1 Kha 3007) heading towards east from west collided head-on with the bus (Me 2 Kha 1765) at the bridge of Koshi Barrage towards Sunsari at 7:40 am today.

The truck fell into the Koshi River after colliding with the bus en route of Solukhumbu from Kakadbhitta carrying passengers, police said.

It has been assumed that the truck that fell off the bridge was swept away by the mighty Koshi.

“After the truck fell off the bridge, the truck was seen swept away by the river,” a policeman, who was at the incident site, said, adding, “Now the truck is no longer visible.”

According to DSP Raj Kumar Rai, spokesperson at the District Police Office, Sunsari, the fence of the 10 number gate of the Koshi Barrage after the truck and bus collided with each other.

Rai said that the three persons traveling in the truck that fell into the Koshi River were rescued safely.

DIG Rameshnath Bastola, Chief of Koshi Provine, has directed the police to be active in searching for the truck that fell into the river.
