Four people have gone missing while two others were injured in a landslide at Resegaon in Dharche Rural Municipality-5, Gorkha.

The incident occurred when the landslide washed away a house and a cowshed, said Vice Chair of the Rural Municipality, Sunila Gurung.

Local residents Chham Bahadur Gurung and Min Bahadur Gurung were injured while a search is being carried out to find those missing in the landslide.

Meanwhile, a police team has left for the incident site, said Ramesh Kumar Shrestha, Information Officer of the District Police Office.

The Beni-Darbang road section has been obstructed following a landslide triggered by incessant rainfall at Sirubari in Raghuganga Rural Municipality-2 in Myagdi district this morning.

Sub-Engineer of Beni-Jomsom-Korala Road Project Sohan Jung Karki said that a massive stone that fell off the cliff has caused road obstruction.

Karki said that a bulldozer along with a stonebreaker is being dispatched to break the stone. He said, "We are preparing to break the stone to resume the vehicular movement by today itself." 

Three members of a family died after being buried in a landslide at Pharpu Village in Gokulganga Rural Municipality-6, Ramechhap on Thursday.

Chief of District Police Office of Ramechhap Pradip Kumar Singh said that Sita Tamang (18), Ashika Tamang (14) and Laxmi Tamang (13) were buried after a part of local Biman Tamang's house collapsed in the landslide.

Chairman of Gokulganga Rural Municipality-6 Chandra Sunuwar said that Biman and his spouse, who were residing in a separate room of the house, are safe.

A landslide triggered by incessant rainfall on Wednesday night has caused partial damages to Pasang Lhamu road along Majhgaun-Bogatitar section.

Heavy vehicles are stranded on the highway to Rasuwagadhi, after the gabion wall constructed last year collapsed.

According to Chief District Officer, Bed Nidhi Khanal, movement of heavy vehicles has been restricted along the road section from today until next notice.  There is a risk in surrounding settlements after the gabion box of the wall has fallen along the roadside. 

The District Disaster Management Committee said the landslide caused damages to Pasanglahmu road after the bodies concerned turned deaf ear to the request of cleaning drainage continuously, giving an outlet to water to another place from the pipe, and opening an alternative route.

With the damages to the road, 150 containers heading towards Kathmandu from China carrying different types of goods are stranded in Rasuwagadhi.

Entrepreneurs have requested the bodies concerned to bring the road section into operation by carrying out repair and maintenance of the road. They have called for easing the vehicular movement by carrying out repair and maintenance of rural roads-- Bogatitar-Banuwa and Ambhanjyang Simle, Taruke and Dharapani roads as an alternative route.

Divisional Engineer of Division Road Office, Nuwakot, Subodh Devkota, mentioned that repair and maintenance of rural road – Dharapani, Belchour and Simle was underway from today itself in the first phase to operate it as an alternative route.

Vehicular movement along the Kaligandaki corridor, which was blocked for the past two weeks, has resumed from today.

Traffic along the road has been obstructed since July 5 following a landslide at Dablyang in Baglung Municipality-10.

A section of the road was swept away in the landslide, completely halting the vehicular movement in Kaligandaki corridor, one of the national pride projects.

The District Police Office, Baglung, stated that the office of the Kaligandaki corridor constructed a gabion to repair the damaged road section. 

Vehicles to and from Baglung, Butwal, Bharahawa and Muktinath had remained off the road for two weeks due to the obstruction.

Vehicular movement along with the Prithvi Highway has been obstructed following landslides in different places of Tanahun district.

The landslides occurred at Yampa in Bandipur Rural Municipality-5, at Ghasikuwa in Byas Municipality-12 and at Mauriodar in Myagde Rural Municipality-6 in the district, the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Dipak Raya said.

The District Police Office, Tanahun, said that the debris of the landslides is being cleared with support from the construction company of the Mugling-Pokhara Road Project.

Likewise, 40 houses at Tallo Simaltar in Byas Municipality-4 were inundated after the swollen Buldikhola (river) entered the human settlement.

A couple died after a landslide buried their house at Takam Village in Dhaulagiri Rural Municipality-7 of Myagdi district on Friday.

Assistant Police Inspector of Takam Police Post Ramesh Prasad Adhikari said that Tul Prasad Neupane and his spouse Bal Kumari Neupane died after a landslide triggered by incessant rainfall buried their house this morning.

Nine persons including seven of a single family died in different incidents of landslides that occurred in Kaski district on Thursday.

Two others are missing in the landslides.

Seven members of Kul Bahadur Pariyar's family died on the spot at Tallakot in Puranchaur of Pokhara Metropolitan City-19, spokesperson of Kaski Police and Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Basanta Kumar Sharma said.

The deceased have been identified as Kul Bahadur Pariyar (47), his mother Laxima (85), his wife Mana Kumari (43), three daughters Radhika, Prashana, and Prava and son-in-law Asmit Pariyar lost their lives in the tragic accident.

It has been learnt that the landslide occurred at 10:30 last night when all of them were at a family gathering.

Likewise, 18-year-old Anita Ojha and nine-year-old Pratik Subedi died after a landslide occurred at Chainpur in Pokhara Metropolitan City-19.

Police said that Anuska Ojha (11) is missing in the landslide. 

Likewise, 80-year-old Maiti Kumari Gurung is also missing in a landslide that occurred in Madi Rural Municipality-11 in Kaski district last night.

A woman died after a landslide buried a house in Baglung district on Wednesday night.

The deceased has been identified as Khil Kumari Sharma (55) of Titaura, Baglung Municipality-7, according to Meghnath Gaire, Ward Chairman.

Sharma had been living alone. The neighbors informed the people's representatives and police about the disaster this morning.

Landslide obstructs Mid-Hill Highway

Meanwhile, the landslide triggered by incessant rainfall obstructed the Mid-Hill Highway.

The landslide occurred at Bayaldanda of Kathekhola Rural Municipality in the district.

The obstruction has disrupted vehicular movement to and from Purba Rukum, Paschim Rukum and Jajarkot districts, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police in the district, Bijay Yadav.

Similarly, Baglung bazaar has been waterlogged due to heavy rains that occurred since Wednesday evening. 

Inundation in the marketplace has caused a huge loss of property.  

The Prithvi Highway has been obstructed due to a landslide at Mauwakhola of Ichchhakamana Rural Municipality-3 on Thursday.

Nirala Bhandari, police inspector at the Area Police Office, Muglin, informed that an excavator is being used to remove the debris.

However, it would take time because continuous rainfall and mudslide is hampering the work. With the obstruction, the vehicles are stranded on the road.

As the rainy season began during the upgrading of the road, it has caused frequent mudslides, thereby obstructing the traffic on one of the busiest highways in the country.

Vehicular movement along the Araniko Highway has been obstructed due to a landslide at Pachaskilo of Panchkhal last night.

Landslide is still running and the security personnel are facing difficulties to clear the debris, DSP Raj Kumar Shrestha.

The road has been blocked in a stretch of 150-meter at Panchkhal Municipality-8 since last night, causing complete halt on vehicular movement.

The light vehicles have been suggested for alternative routes.

DSP Shrestha further informed that the heavy equipment as excavators would be used to remove the debris on road from this morning.

Thirty-three districts of the country have been affected from water-induced disasters from June 10-26.

According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, Taplejung, Panchthar, Sankhuwasabha, Sindhupalchowk, Rasuwa, Chitwan, Lamjung, Parbat, Myagdi, Nawalparasi East, Gulmi, Dang, Kaski districts were affected the most.

A total of 147 disaster-related incidents had occurred during the period in which 28 people lost their lives, added the Ministry. Of them, 14 people were killed in landslides, 13 in lightning and one in flood.  

Similarly, 12 people sustained injuries and 25 houses were completely damaged while 10 suffered partial damages from landslides during the period.

According to the Secretariat of Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane, property worth more than Rs 6.9 million was destroyed by landslides.

A total of 68 incidents of lightning took place during the period in which 13 people lost their lives. Twenty-four people were injured from lightning and property worth more than Rs 1.7 million was damaged.

Spokesperson at the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, Dr Dijan Bhattarai, said 18 people were killed in disaster incidents on June 25 and 26. Of them, nine died from lightning, and nine from flooding and landslides.

Vehicular movement along the Narayangadh-Muglin road section in Chitwan has been obstructed following a landslide at Jalbire in Ichchhakamana Rural Municipality-6.

District Police Office Chitwan's information officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police Bheshraj Rijal, said that incessant rain since this morning triggered the landslide.

Continuous rain has been hampering the efforts to clear the landslide debris, he added.

Four killed as landslide sweeps away three houses in Lamjung

Four persons died when a landslide swept away three houses at Pachyu Tole in Bagum of Uttarkanya, Lamjung on Tuesday.

According to ward member Bin Prasad Ghale, the landslide washed away the houses of Rudraman Gurung, Panchaman Gurung and Chitra Ghale.

The deceased have been identified as Rudraman Gurung (69), Panchaman Gurung (36) and her two daughters Ichhya Gurung (7) and Namrata Gurung (5).

Bhim Bahadur Gurung, brother of Chitra Gurung, was injured in the incident.

Police Inspector Thaneshwor Chapagain informed that a police team from Besisahar, district headquarters, and Maling is heading towards the incident site.

Likewise, a person died and two others were injured when a landslide buried a house and two sheds in Okhaldhunga.

Police identified the deceased as Dev Kumari Khatri (35) wife of Baburam Khatri (39) of Chisankhugadhi Rural Municipality-5, Okhaldhunga. 

Similarly, a person died after being buried by a landslide at Syaut in Besisahar Municipality-11, Lamjung. 

The deceased has been identified as Bikam Sunar (16). 

Two children died in two separate incidents of landslides triggered by incessant rainfall in Kaski. A person was injured in the incident.

Thirteen-year-old Ayusma Ranabhat died after being buried in a landslide last night in Chitepani Ghumti of Madi Rural Municipality-5, according to District Police Office Kaski Spokesperson and Deputy Superintendent of Police Basant Kumar Sharma.

In the same incident, Ayusma's grandmother Lalmaya Banjara (70) was rescued by police. Granddaughter and grandmother were the only ones in the house when the incident happened.

Similarly, last night three-year-old son Anmol of Hari Sunar died when their two-room mud house collapsed due to a landslide in Arupata of Pokhara Metropolitan City-27. Hari's 27-year-old wife Ritu was injured in the incident. She is undergoing treatment at the Gandaki Medical College.

Hari and his nine-year-old daughter Anjali were rescued safely.

The Beshisahar-Chame road section has been obstructed following a landslide since last night.

The landslide triggered by incessant rainfall obstructed the road at Kharkhare of Beshisahar Municipality-6, according to the District Police Office.

Information officer at the Office, Thaneshwor Chapai, informed that even a boulder fell on the road, affecting the vehicular movement.

Similarly, the Octopus Falls along the roadway witnessed a rise in water level in the wake of incessant rainfall. It also disrupted the roadway.

Kharkharebhir is one of the risky spots along the roadway. Every year, the disturbance on traffic movement is witnessed here.

Although the federal government had allocated Rs 164 million for landslide control in this area, it is yet to be realized.
