Two Indian climbers died while descending from Mount Everest after successfully summing the world’s highest peak.
The deceased have been identified as Indian nationals Arun Kumar Tiwari and Sandeep Aare, according to the Department of Tourism and the liaison officer at the base camp.
A record number of 274 people scaled Mount Everest via Nepal on Wednesday.
According to a source, the two climbers fell seriously ill during their descent after having to wait in line for long periods in the death zone at 8,000 meters due to traffic jams.
Tiwari died on Thursday near the famous Hillary Step and while Aare breathed his last at Camp 2 while the Sherpa rescue team was bringing him down the mountain.
With the latest deaths, the total number of climbers and guides who have lost their lives on mountains including Everest, Lhotse and Makalu this spring mountaineering season has reached seven.
