Nepali Congress senior leader Shekhar Koirala and General Secretary Gagan Thapa held a meeting on Sunday.
During the meeting held at the Koirala’s Secretariat in Bishalnagar, Koirala and Thapa discussed the party's internal politics, contemporary political issues and ongoing House obstruction among others.
On the occasion, Thapa informed Koirala about the meetings he had with President Ram Chandra Paudel and Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Thapa’s Secretariat said.
Koirala has been saying that the CPN-UML and Congress should move ahead together to maintain political stability in the country.
He was of the opinion that there is a need for the two major parties to move forward together to take the country towards the path of good governance, development and prosperity.
Earlier, he had floated a proposal to Oli of forming a Congress-UML alliance.
The Congress leaders have been looking for ways to break the current political equation.
Meanwhile, NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba has been saying that the old alliance between Nepali Congress and CPN (Maoist Center) should be reinstated.
The Congress has been obstructing both the Houses of the federal Parliament demanding formation of a parliamentary committee to probe cooperative fraud charges against Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane.
After the Congress warned of obstructing the next meeting as well, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Speaker Devraj Ghimire have started holding discussion with the major political parties.
The Congress obstructed the first meeting of the budget session on Friday also.
Amid obstruction, Speaker Ghimire postponed the Parliament meeting till May 14.
The government has decided to unveil its policies and programs on May 14.
President Ram Chandra Paudel will present the government’s policies and programs in the joint meeting of the House of Representatives and National Assembly.
