Voting begins across the country to elect members of House of Representatives and Province Assembly

Voting has begun across the country on Sunday morning to elect the members of the House of Representatives and Province Assembly. The Election Commission said that eligible voters will be allowed to caste their vote from 7 am to 5 pm today. According to the poll body there are a total of 17, 988, 570 eligible voters.

A total of 10,892 polling stations and 22,227 polling centres have been established for the elections.

Around 300, 000 security personnel from Nepal Army, Armed Police Force, Nepal Police and National Intelligence Department have been mobilized for the security of the elections. A total of 2,412 candidates are contesting the the elections under the first-past-the-post (FPTP) system. Among them, 2,187 are male and 225 are female. Similarly, a total of 2,199 candidates are contesting the elections under Proportional Representation category. Among them, 1,012 male and 1,187 are female.
