AFC and FIFA official matches not to be held at Dasharath Stadium
The official matches of FIFA and AFC will not be held at the Dasharath Stadium, Nepal’s only internationally recognized stadium.
The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has said that the FIFA and AFC matches cannot be played at the Dasharath Stadium, citing lack of standards during an inspection.
According to ANFA General Secretary Kiran Rai, Nepal will no longer be allowed to host any FIFA and AFC matches at the Dasharath Stadium.
“The official matches of FIFA and AFC will not be held at the stadium until the standards are met,” he said.
Rai, however, said that the SAFF and other international series will be held at the stadium.
Champions League final to kick off three hours earlier from 2026, says UEFA
The Champions League final will kick off three hours earlier at 1800 CET (1600 GMT) starting in 2026, European soccer's governing body UEFA said on Thursday, in a bid to give fans an improved experience, Reuters reported.
The 2025 final in Munich, where Paris St Germain beat Inter Milan 5-0, kicked off at 2100 CET, which left fans trudging out of the stadium close to midnight once the trophy celebrations had died down.
UEFA said the earlier kickoff would improve access to public transport after the match, while host cities would benefit economically when fans continue their celebrations outside the stadium.
"The new kickoff time will make it even more accessible, inclusive, and impactful for everyone involved," UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin said in a statement, according to Reuters.
PSG to face Bayern and Barcelona in Champions League opening stage
Champions League holders Paris St Germain will play Bayern Munich and Barcelona in this season's league phase while record 15-times winners Real Madrid will face Manchester City and Liverpool after Thursday's draw set up some blockbuster encounters, Reuters reported.
PSG will also meet Premier League sides Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United along with Atalanta and Bayer Leverkusen in the new league phase format which started last season, where each club plays eight games -- four at home and four on the road.
Real Madrid will play Manchester City again for a fifth consecutive season and make a trip to Liverpool in what will be a homecoming for Trent Alexander-Arnold, the English fullback who left Anfield to join Real in the close season.
Real also take on Juventus at home while they have a long flight to Eastern Europe in store when they take on Kazakhstan side Kairat Almaty, who stunned Celtic in the playoffs to qualify for the first time, according to Reuters.
Man United agree to sell Garnacho to Chelsea for 40 million pounds
Manchester United have agreed to sell Argentine winger Alejandro Garnacho to Chelsea for 40 million pounds ($54 million), a source close to United said on Thursday, Reuters reported.
The 21-year-old's sale value would be the fourth largest for a United player after Cristiano Ronaldo, Romelu Lukaku and Angel di Maria.
Garnacho, who played 93 Premier League matches for United, was among five players seeking to exit the club this summer, along with Marcus Rashford, Antony, Tyrell Malacia and Jadon Sancho. Rashford joined Barcelona on loan last month, according to Reuters.
