Boca Juniors earned a deserved 2-0 home league victory over River Plate in Sunday's Argentine Superclasico, extending their bitter rivals' dismal run with goals from Exequiel Zeballos and Miguel Merentiel, Reuters reported.
The defeat leaves River mired in a slump, having lost six of their last seven league matches as they sit sixth in Group B of the Clausura competition with 21 points, 10 adrift of leaders Rosario Central.
Boca, meanwhile, notched a third straight league win to move top of Group A with 26 points and secure an automatic place in next year’s Copa Libertadores group stage, climbing to 59 points in the overall season table, according to Reuters.
Lewandowski hat-trick steers Barcelona to 4-2 win at Celta Vigo
Robert Lewandowski struck a hat-trick and Lamine Yamal was also on target as Barcelona earned a 4-2 win at Celta Vigo on Sunday, closing to within three points of LaLiga leaders Real Madrid, Reuters reported.
After Real were held to a draw by Rayo Vallecano earlier in the day, Barcelona closed the gap on their rivals, moving up to 28 points and pulling two clear of third-placed Villarreal.
Celta remain 13th on 13 points, five adrift of the European places, according to Reuters.
Kane nets late equaliser but Bayern's winning run ends with Union draw
Harry Kane headed in a stoppage-time equaliser to avoid Bayern Munich's first defeat of the season but their 2-2 draw at Union Berlin ended their record winning start across all competitions, Reuters reported.
Union thought they had won it with Danilho Goekhi's second goal in the 83rd minute but Kane headed in the leveller. Bayern top the Bundesliga on 28 points, six ahead of RB Leipzig.
Bayern, who had made it 16 victories from 16 games with 2-1 win at Champions League holders Paris St Germain 2-1 on Tuesday, looked to have run out of steam against the hard-working Berliners, according to Reuters.
Everton ease to dominant 2-0 home win over Fulham
Idrissa Gueye and Michael Keane scored as Everton claimed a deserved 2-0 Premier League win over Fulham on Saturday in a game in which they had the ball in the net on five occasions, Reuters reported .
Everton moved up 11th in the table with 15 points from 11 games, while Fulham remained 15th with 11 points from the same number of matches.
Everton were full value for their victory and had three goals disallowed for offside as the ability to finish chances that has largely eluded them for much of this season returned, according to Reuters.
