Luis Enrique hails the firepower of his PSG side
Paris Saint Germain coach Luis Enrique hailed his players' ruthlessness in front of goal in their 3-0 defeat of Chelsea in the Champions League on Tuesday which gave the reigning European champions an 8-2 aggregate win over the Londoners, Reuters reported.
"We were very precise," the Spaniard told reporters. "We scored the first two goals very quickly and that was the key to the game."
PSG raced into a 2-0 lead within 14 minutes thanks to goals from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Bradley Barcola. Substitute Senny Mayulu made it 3-0 in the 62nd minute, according to Reuters.
Morocco declared African champions after Senegal stripped of title
Morocco were declared Africa Cup of Nations champions and Senegal were stripped of the title after an appeal over the result of the final was upheld by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) on Tuesday, Reuters reported.
Senegal were ruled to have forfeited the game in the Moroccan capital Rabat on January 18 because they walked off the pitch in protest at a potentially decisive penalty awarded against them.
They returned after 14 minutes to win the match 1-0 courtesy of a Pape Gueye goal in extra time. CAF's Appeal Board on Tuesday replaced that result with a 3-0 victory for Morocco, according to Reuters.
Brentford blow two-goal lead in 2-2 draw with Wolves
Brentford striker Igor Thiago celebrated his maiden call-up by Brazil with a 19th Premier League goal of the season but had to settle for a home draw as bottom side Wolverhampton Wanderers rallied from two goals down to secure a 2-2 draw on Monday, Reuters reported.
Brentford stay in seventh place with 45 points from their 30 games as they missed the chance to significantly close the gap on the Champions League qualification places above them. Wolves have 17 points from 31 games and are 12 points below the safety zone.
Michael Kayode gave Brentford the lead before Thiago, who was named in Carlo Ancelotti's Brazil squad on Monday, doubled their advantage in the first half, at which stage the home side were cruising to what looked a comfortable win, according to Reuters.
Chelsea captain James ruled out of PSG clash with hamstring injury
Chelsea captain Reece James will miss Tuesday's Champions League last-16 second-leg clash against Paris St Germain after sustaining a hamstring injury, manager Liam Rosenior said on Monday, adding that the problem could be serious for the right back, Reuters reported.
James, who last week signed a six-year contract extension tying him to his boyhood club until 2032, picked up the issue during Chelsea's 1-0 Premier League home defeat by Newcastle United on Saturday.
The 26-year-old England international did not take part in training ahead of the Stamford Bridge game, with Chelsea needing to overturn a 5-2 first-leg deficit against the reigning European champions, according to Reuters.
