AC Milan secured a hard-fought 1-0 home win over Lazio thanks to Rafael Leao's goal early in the second-half to provisionally take over at the top of Serie A on Saturday, Reuters reported.
The victory put Milan on 28 points, one point above second-placed AS Roma before they host champions Napoli, who are third on 25 points, on Sunday. Lazio are eighth with 18 points.
Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan produced a moment of brilliance inside two minutes when he somehow clawed away Mario Gila’s point-blank header with a fingertip save, according to Reuters.
Yildiz inspires Juventus to 2-1 comeback win over Cagliari
Juventus claimed a 2-1 win over Cagliari after a Kenan Yildiz double turned the match on its head and stopped the hosts slipping further behind the Serie A pacesetters on Saturday, Reuters reported.
The victory brings some relief for Juve after two league draws, putting them in seventh place on 23 points. They are four points behind leaders AS Roma who host third-placed Napoli (25 points) on Sunday. Cagliari are 14th with 11 points.
Sebastiano Esposito gave Cagliari the lead after 26 minutes, tucking the ball home from close range after a low ball from the byline found him unmarked, with the Juventus defence reacting a fraction too late to block the effort, according to Reuters.
Newcastle's fast start lays platform for 4-1 thumping of Everton
Newcastle United's Malick Thiaw scored the fastest goal of the Premier League season after 52 seconds in the 4-1 thrashing of Everton on Saturday as his side recorded their first away win of the campaign at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, Reuters reported.
Lewis Miley and Nick Woltemade added two more in the first half ti give Newcastle a 3-0 lead at the break, before Thiaw bagged his second goal as the visitors took advantage of more poor defending from the home side.
Newcastle moved into 11th after 13 games, level on 18 points with Everton who are 14th after conceding four goals for the first time at their new ground on the banks of the River Mersey, according to Reuters.
Nepal Premier League: Karnali to face Kathmandu today
Karnali Yaks are playing against Kathmandu Gorkhas in the only match of the day under the second season of Nepal Premier League (NPL).
The match is scheduled to start at 3:30 pm at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Stadium.
Karnali Yaks remain in the sixth position in the points table with only one win in four matches so far.
Captained by Sompal Kami, Karnali must win today to continue their chance of qualifying for the pay-offs.
Meanwhile, led by Karan KC, Kathmandu Gorkhas remain in third place with three wins in five matches.
