Shilpa Rao set for a debut concert in Nepal

Indian singer Shilpa Rao is scheduled to make her debut appearance in Nepal. She is set to perform at a concert event taking place at Prive Nepal Club of the Solti Hotel on Aug 25.

The event is a collaborative effort between Roar Entertainment and Arena Entertainment. Mohit Basnet, the coordinator of the event, shared that individuals interested in attending can purchase tickets using the My Pay digital wallet. The hosting duties for the program will be undertaken by former Miss Nepal Namrata Shrestha and Shrijal Rupakheti.

Renowned as a Grammy-nominated and highly sought-after Indian playback and independent singer recognized for her diverse musical style, Rao has lent her voice to numerous Bollywood favorites like ‘Tose Naina’, ‘Khuda Jaane’, ‘Malang’, ‘Meherban’, ‘Bulleya’, ‘Manmarziyan’, ‘Kalank’, ‘Ghungroo’, and ‘Tere Hawale’, among others.

Her vocal prowess authentically conveys emotions and establishes the perfect ambiance for any song she performs. She earned the prestigious Filmfare award for best female playback singer due to her chart-topping track ‘Ghungroo’ from the film ‘War’.

Rao’s recent playback releases encompass ‘Saanjha’ from the movie ‘Zara Hatke Zara Bachke’, the captivating ‘Besharam Rang’ from ‘Pathaan’, which is gaining global acclaim, and the latest hit song ‘Kaavaalaa’ from the film ‘Jailer’, featuring superstar Rajinikanth.

10th Aviation Safety Campaign kicks off

The Tenth Aviation Safety Campaign in Nepal started on Monday. This four-day event comprises two separate two-day training sessions, targeting both pilots and stakeholders within the aviation industry.

The event organized in Kathmandu, with Prem Nath Thakur, deputy director general of Nepal's Civil Aviation Authority (CAAN), serving as the program's chairperson. Buddhi Sagar Lamichhane, joint secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, was invited as the chief guest.

Other notable attendees included Capt Sameer Sajet, head of the Regional Aviation Safety Office of the World Food Program (WFP) in the UAE; Anoj Rimal, acting president of the Airlines Operators Association of Nepal (AOAN); and Manoj Karki, general secretary of AOAN.

Rimal emphasized that safety has consistently been a top priority for Nepali airline operators. Capt Sajet from WFP stated that Nepal plays a vital role in various sectors, underscoring the need for stakeholders to uphold airline safety standards to bolster the nation's sectors. He also mentioned WFP’s efforts to modernize aviation safety through computer-based training.

CAAN Deputy Director General Thakur acknowledged the challenges faced by airline companies under the current circumstances and highlighted the significance of programs like Aviation Safety Campaign in improving the safety and quality of Nepal’s aviation industry. He stressed that CAAN and airline operators are interdependent and can achieve better outcomes through collaboration and coordination.

Chief Guest Lamichhane underscored the importance of aviation safety training sessions. He noted that such programs benefit both airline operators and the general public. Considering aviation safety as an ongoing concern, he remarked that countries worldwide are actively working to enhance aviation safety standards.

Over 2,000 pilgrims benefit from free health camp

More than 2,000 pilgrims at Pashupatinath temple have benefitted of the free healthcare camp organized by Buwa Care Pvt Ltd. This initiative, in partnership with Maharshi Deepak Prathistan, Pashupati Development Trust, and Kathmandu Metropolitan City, occurred every Monday during the month of Shrawan.

Dr Anam Pyakurel, Buwa Care’s chairperson, says that the camp extends first aid, free medication, and doctor consultations to those in need. “Approximately 300 individuals received cost-free health assessments each Shrawan Monday,” he says.

Sushma Rijal, CEO of Buwa Care, says that a dedicated team of three physicians, five nurses, and five lab technicians was mobilized to manage the camp’s operations.

Buwa Care, established in April 2023, self-funded this healthcare campaign. Its primary objective is to provide affordable healthcare services to the elderly. The senior citizens who become Buwa Care members by paying an annual fee of Rs 30,000 receive biannual whole body check-ups and doctor consultations.

Furthermore, Buwa Care extends round-the-clock telemedicine services, enabling senior citizens to consult doctors at any time. A specialized dietician devises a year-long meal plan for members, coupled with complimentary physiotherapy sessions.

Dr Pyakurel says it is important for leisure for senior citizens. “Buwa Care organizes motivational, yoga, and meditation classes, fostering social connections among members,” he says. Additionally, the organization arranges brief pilgrim excursions for the elderly too.

‘Aama Timi Chhodera Gaigayeu’ music video released

Crafted by lyricist DP Dahal and composed by Santosh Shrestha, Anju Pant, the vocalist, has unveiled a track titled “Aama Timi Chhodera Gaigayeu”. The accompanying music video, produced by Rita Simkhada Dahal, has been skillfully directed by the renowned filmmaker Nikesh Khadka.

The song conveys the universal truth that everyone must eventually part ways with their mother. It reflects on the shared experience of enduring this poignant separation, while also emphasizing the profound reverence for mothers. The song is brought to life through the compelling rendition of Smarika Dhakal. 

The mixing and mastering have been skillfully executed by Kishore Thapa, with cinematography by Uttam Humagai and editing by Bikas Dhamala.
