Assistant election officer among three injured as clash breaks out in Sarkegand of Jumla

Three persons including an assistant election officer were injured when a clash broke out at the voting center in Unapani-based Devkota Primary School of Sarkegand Rural Municipality-3, Humla. The injured have been identified as assistant election officer Prem Bhandari and two temporary personnel, DSP Krishna Raj Ojha said. He said that police fired 17 rounds of bullets into the air to take the situation under control. The clash broke out between the cadres of the ruling alliance and independent candidates at around 8 am today. DSP Ojha said that some ballot papers were also torn during the clash.  

32 percent voting as of 12: 45 pm: EC

The Election Commission said that 32 percent votes have been cast as of 12:45 pm across the country today under the elections to the House of Representatives and Province Assembly. EC spokesperson Shaligram Sharma Poudel said so during a conference this afternoon. He said that voting is underway in a peaceful environment except for a few incidents. Meanwhile, the poll body has directed the election officers deployed in various districts to not halt the voting without holding discussions with the concerned authorities.

107-year-old man casts vote in Myagdi

A centenarian cast his vote under the elections to the House of Representatives and Province Assembly in Myagdi today. Jasamani Kami (107) of Rum, Malika Rural Municipality-2 exercised his franchise from the local Rastriya Secondary School-based polling center (A), according to voting officer Ishwor Bahadur Bhandari. Voting is underway in all 120 polling centers in Myagdi. The number of eligible voters in the district is 86, 000.  

CPN (Bahumat) district in charge among eight held in Kanchapur

Police have arrested eight persons including the district in charge of the CPN (Bahumat) in Kanchapur. District in charge Harish Dayal among eight persons were apprehended from outside the voting center at Bhrikuti Higher Secondary School in Bhimdutta Municipality-4, the District Police Office, Kanchapur said.
