Idol of Taleju Bhawani reinstated in temple
The idol of Taleju Bhawani in Hanuman Dhoka was reinstated in the temple on Saturday with established rituals.
Earlier, on Asoj Shukla Saptami, the seventh day of the waxing moon in the month of Asoj as per the lunar calendar, the idol was brought to the main chowk of Hanuman Dhoka Durbar Square through tantric rituals to be shown to the Living Goddess Kumari.
Kumari paid homage to the Taleju Bhawani at an auspicious hour of 10:00 pm on Friday.
According to Gautam Shakya, the manager of Kumari Ghar (the House of the Living Goddess), the idol was restored to the temple on Saturday, the day of Bijaya Dashami, the 10th day of Dashain.
The reinstatement of the idol marks the beginning of the Tika ceremony, he said.
Combined effect of Westerly, local winds likely to bring rain in some parts of country
There has been a general impact of the Westerly wind along with the local wind in Lumbini, Sudurpaschim, and Karnali provinces, while a partial impact has been observed in Koshi, Madhesh, Bagamati and Gandaki provinces.
According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division, the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the combined effect of the Westerly and local winds is expected to bring rain today.
In its weather bulletin, the Division has predicted partially to generally cloudy in Koshi, Bagamati, and Gandaki provinces with chances of light to moderate rainfall in hilly regions of Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.
Today, light rainfall with lightning has been expected in one/two parts of Koshi, Bagamati, and Gandaki provinces.
Tonight, one/two parts of the hilly regions of Koshi and Gandaki provinces are likely to witness light rainfall.
On October 14, partial and generally cloudy conditions are expected in hilly parts of the Koshi, Bagamati, and Gandaki provinces while light rainfall is likely in hilly regions of the Bagmati and Gandaki Provinces.
63,242 passengers travel via TIA in two days of Dashain festival
In two days of the Dashain festival, a total of 63,242 people traveled via Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).
The travel flights were recorded for both domestic and international services on the Phulpati (the seventh day) and the Maha Astami/Mahanawami( the eighth/ninth day) of the Dashain festival.
The Maha Astami and Maha Nawami were observed on the same date this time. According to TIA Spokesperson Rinji Sherpa, on October 11, the number of domestic passengers for 301 flights was 17,329, while 14,436 passengers traveled by 278 domestic flights on October 12, totaling 31,765 towards domestic services.
Similarly, towards international flights, the number of passengers on October 12 for 107 flights (both arrival and take-off) was 16,509 followed by 14,968 on 107 flights the following day, totaling 31,477.
Earlier, on September 30, the TIA recorded 559 flights in a single day towards both domestic and international categories and the number of passengers was 35,704.
The occurrence of significant flooding and landslides due to incessant rains on September 27-28 caused subsequently high demand for flights.
TIA dealt with the significant rise in the number of passengers from September 29 to October 2 in the aftermath of the disasters.
Its terminal building was overcrowded. The TIA said now the flight schedule has returned to normal.
President offers tika and jamara to public
On the occasion of the Bijaya Dashami festival Saturday, President Ramchandra Paudel offered tika and jamara to citizens as the 'prasad' or blessings of the goddess Nawa Durga.
According to the President's Private Secretariat, the Head of the State gave tika and jamara to the public after he offered the Dashain tika to VVIPs including Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli at the Office of the President, Shital Niwas.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Urban Development, Prakash Man Singh, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Badri Prasad Pandey, Minister of State for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Kanchharam Tamang and lawmaker Sapana Rajbhandari, among other distinguished personalities, visited the Shital Niwas to receive the Dashain tika from the President.
Those wishing to receive the Dashain blessings from the Head of the State reached the Shital Niwas today.

The Head of State gave Dashain tika and jamara to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Urban Development, Prakash Man Singh, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Badri Prasad Pandey, Minister of State for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Kanchharam Tamang and lawmaker Sapana Rajbhandari, among other distinguished persons, the President's Private Secretariat said. PM Oli receives Dashain 'tika'
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli received the Bijaya Dashami tika and jamara from his father Mohan Prasad Oli at the auspicious time of 11.36 am on the occasion of the Bada Dashain festival today.
On the occasion, PM Oli gave tika and jamara to his spouse Radhika Shakya and members of his family, according to the Prime Minister's Secretariat.
This time, Prime Minister Oli will not be offering tika and jamara to the general public due to the adverse situation in the country in the aftermath of natural disasters like flooding, landslide and inundation triggered by incessant rains on September 27 and 28, the PM Secretariat said.
President Paudel receives Bijaya Dashami 'tika'
President Ramchandra Paudel received the Dashain tika, prasad, jamara and blessings from his elder brother 94-year-old Dundiraj Paudel today.
The Head of State received the tika and jamara at the President House, Shital Niwas at the auspicious time of 11.36 am today on the occasion of the Bijaya Dashami.
On the same occasion, President Paudel also received the Dashain tika, jamara and prasad from the priests. After receiving tika, the President offered tika and jamara to First Lady Sabita Paudel and other members of his family at the auspicious time, the President's Private Secretariat stated.
The President is also scheduled to give tika and jamara to the distinguished persons from 3.00pm to 3.30 pm and to the members of the public from 3.30pm to 5.00pm on the occasion of Bijaya Dashami today.
The President will give tika and jamara to the VVIPs, the Deputy Prime Ministers, the Province Chiefs, Ministers, justices, lawmakers and office-bearers of the constitutional bodies as well as to the officers of civil service, Army and Police from 3.00pm to 3.30 pm at his residence at the President House, Shital Niwas.
Thereafter, the Head of State will give tika and jamara to the interested members of the general public from 3.30pm to 5.00pm, according to the President's Secretariat. Dashain symbolizes the victory of truth over falsehood and it is linked to the legend of the goddess Durga's slaying Mahishasur, the demon.
It is believed that putting on the 'tika' epitomizes the goddess bestowing the power of victory as a blessing.
Putting on the tika on one's forehead also symbolizes purity and holiness. This tradition of putting on tika and jamara on the occasion of Bijaya Dashami contributes to the preservation of Nepali culture and tradition and it has significance, as it is also an occasion when all members of the family gather and receive blessings from their elders and seniors.
In this way, the Dashain tika carries religious, cultural and familial significance and it is believed to foster a sense of unity, love and peace in Nepali society.
National Assembly Chair Dahal leaves for Geneva
A nine-member Nepali parliamentary delegation, led by National Assembly Chairman Narayan Prasad Dahal, has left here for Geneva, Switzerland today to attend the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU)'s 149th Assembly.
The Chairman of the upper house of the Federal Parliament is scheduled to make a statement in the IPU Assembly on the theme of 'Harnessing science, technology, and innovation for a more peaceful and sustainable future', on behalf of Nepal, the Federal Parliament Secretariat stated.
The NA Chair is scheduled to hold meetings with the delegations from various countries and with officials of the IPU and the IPU Secretariat on the sidelines of the Assembly.
Lawmakers Sunita Baral and Nisha Dangi are in the delegation. The IPU 149th Assembly will be held on October 13-17.
National Assembly lawmakers Taraman Swanr and Krishna Prasad Paudel, and Federal Parliament's Secretary-General Padma Prasad Pandeya among other officers are also in the Nepali delegation.
Chairman Dahal-led delegation will return home on October 19.
