Three police officers were killed and two others critically injured in a shooting in the US state of Pennsylvania, while following-up on a "domestic-related" investigation, authorities have said, BBC reported.

Pennsylvania State Police Commissioner Colonel Christopher Paris said the gunman was fatally shot by the police.

The incident happened just after 14:00 local time (18:00 GMT). Images from the scene showed a police officer being airlifted in a medical helicopter.

The shooting forced a nearby school district in Spring Grove, Pennsylvania - a small town of about 2,500 people - to briefly shelter in place. The district later said the school had not been affected, according to BBC

King Charles has commended President Trump's personal commitment to "finding solutions to some of the world's most intractable conflicts", as he called for US support for Ukraine against "tyranny", in a speech at the US state visit banquet, BBC reported.

In response, President Trump hailed the special relationship between the US and the UK, saying the word "special does not begin to do it justice".

The King's speech, at a lavish dinner for 160 guests in Windsor Castle, emphasised the deep connections between the two countries and the need to maintain cultural, trading and military links.

"Our people have fought and died together for the values we hold dear," said the King, according to BBC.

The government is celebrating Constitution Day and National Day, 2082 on Friday.

The Constitution Day major event will be held at the Army Pavilion, Tundikhel on September 19 and President Ram Chandra Paudel will attend it as the Chief Guest. 

Prime Minister Sushila Karki will be addressing the event, according to Home Ministry's Joint Secretary Rhishi Ram Tiwari.  

Bearing in mind the specific political scenario in the country, the Day will be celebrated accordingly, it is said.

The previous government on August 24 formed the Constitution Day and National Day 2082 Celebration Main Committee to celebrate a decade of the declaration of Nepal's Constitution in a grand manner. 

The Constitution of Nepal, 2072 was proclaimed by the Constituent Assembly on September 20, 2015 as a result of the sacrifices and long struggles of the Nepali people.

On the occasion of the Constitution Day and National Day on September 19, programs will be organized also at the provincial and local levels focusing on the historical background of the current Constitution, its importance, and the inherent aspects of the Constitution.

Aryna Sabalenka has withdrawn from the China Open due to an injury suffered during her title-winning campaign at Flushing Meadows, organisers said on Wednesday, Reuters reported.

A massive landslide triggered by continuous rainfall has blocked the Baglung section of the Kaligandaki Corridor, a project of national pride, since this morning.

The landslide occurred at Belbagar in Jaimini Municipality-8, completely halting traffic along the route. Due to the scale of the landslide, restoring the roadway has been challenging, said District Police Office, Baglung's Chief Information Officer Keshab Thapa.

Bagmati Province Speaker Bhuwan Kumar Pathak resigned from his post on Wednesday.

His resignation letter states that he has resigned from the post of Speaker of the Bagmati Provincial Assembly in accordance with the Constitution of Nepal and the Provincial Assembly Rules 2074 BS.

He is an elected lawmaker from the Rastriya Prajatantra Party.

He was elected Speaker with the support of the then ruling coalition of CPN-UML, CPN (Maoist Center), and Hamro Nepali Party.

The Lumbini province government and its subordinate bodies witnessed damages during the recent Gen Z demonstrations held on September 8-9.  

A preliminary report about the damages has been made public today. 

According to the document unveiled by the Office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers, the Office of the Province Chief, the Chief Minister's residence, and the Butwal Liaison Office were completely damaged in the course of the protests. Similarly, three vehicles were destroyed at the Chief Minister's residence. 

Acting Chief Secretary for the Province, Liladhar Subedi said seven motorcycles and a car owned by the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure Development were destroyed in Dang, while incidents of minor vandalism in government entities were also reported from Arghakhanchi. 

Under the Ministry of Urban Development, a motorcycle was burned in Rupandehi, and belongings inside the ministers' quarters in Lamahi, Dang, were set on fire.

The Butwal-based Treasury Controller Office witnessed damages worth around Rs 9.6 million.

Offices under the Ministry of Industry, Tourism, and Transport including the transport offices in Rupandehi, Banke, and Dang; the Directorate of Industry in Bhairahawa; the Office of Cottage and Small Industries in Dang; and the Tourism Information Center in Banke reported massive damages in the incidents of arson and vandalism.

Similarly, the Health Minister’s residence sustained damage, while under the Ministry of Energy, eight motorcycles were burned in Dang. The Directorate of Forests also reported massive destruction.

The Province Public Service Commission was subjected to arson and vandalism, resulting in the destruction of storage rooms, the loss of property records belonging to employees and public representatives, while six vehicles were reduced to ashes.

However, the administrative complex of the provincial government in Deukhuri, Rapti Valley, is spared from damage.
