Mason Mount's magnificent effort and a first Old Trafford goal for Benjamin Sesko secured Manchester United a 2-0 victory against Sunderland that helps ease the pressure on Ruben Amorim, Reuters reported.

The under-fire Portuguese head coach headed into his 50th match as Red Devils boss in the spotlight after last weekend's bruising 3-1 loss at Brentford.

But Amorim's side responded well in wet and windy conditions against promoted Sunderland, with first-half goals from Mount and Sesko sealing a much-needed victory before the international break.

Recently signed goalkeeper Senne Lammens impressed on his debut as the hosts made five changes, with Mount - another of those brought in - giving them the lead inside eight minutes, according to Reuters.

 

Inter’s four-goal flourish sinks Cremonese at San Siro

Inter Milan cruised to a 4-1 home win over Cremonese in Serie A on Saturday, with four different scorers on a rainy night, Reuters reported.

The victory moved Inter level on 12 points with pacesetters AC Milan, Napoli and AS Roma, who all play their sixth league game of the season on Sunday.

Lautaro Martinez started the rout in the sixth minute after latching onto a pass from Ange-Yoan Bonny inside the box and finishing unmarked with ease, according to Reuters.

Record-breaking Kane on target again as Bayern stretch winning run

Bayern Munich forward Harry Kane set a Bundesliga scoring record and Luis Diaz netted twice as the leaders cruised past hosts Eintracht Frankfurt 3-0 on Saturday to continue a flawless start to the season with their sixth consecutive league win, Reuters reported.

Kane, who also hit the woodwork from point-blank range in the second half, rifled in his 11th league goal in the 27th minute and become the first Bundesliga player to reach that mark after six matches. He has now scored 18 goals in 10 matches across all competitions this season.

Bayern, who also set a Bundesliga scoring record with 25 goals from the first six league games, have won all 10 competitive matches this term, a club record since their promotion to the Bundesliga in 1965, according to Reuters.

Chelsea condemn Liverpool to third successive defeat

A stoppage time winner from teenager Estevao Willian earned Chelsea a 2-1 victory over Liverpool in the Premier League on Saturday, condemning the champions to a third defeat in a row in all competitions, Reuters reported.

The 18-year-old Brazilian poked home from a Marc Cucurella cross in the fifth minute of time added on for his first Chelsea goal, in a fast and furious game at Stamford Bridge.

The result left Arne Slot's team in second place in the table on 15 points, one behind Arsenal. Chelsea rise to sixth on 11, according to Reuters.

Arsenal go top as Liverpool suffer last-gasp defeat at Chelsea

Arsenal claimed top spot in the Premier League on Saturday as they beat West Ham United 2-0 in manager Mikel Arteta's 300th game in charge before champions Liverpool suffered a stoppage-time defeat in London for the second successive weekend, Reuters reported.

Liverpool would have reclaimed the leadership going into the international break had they beaten Chelsea in the day's late game but were stunned when Brazilian teenager Estevao scored in the 95th minute to give the hosts a 2-1 victory.

Little over a week ago Arsenal trailed Liverpool by five points but wins over Newcastle United and West Ham combined with defeats against Crystal Palace and Chelsea for Arne Slot's side means Arteta's team are in pole position, according to Reuters.

Vinicius double helps Real to 3-1 home win over Villarreal

Real Madrid's Vinicius Jr scored twice before a late finish from Kylian Mbappe wrapped up a 3-1 home victory over Villarreal, who finished with 10 men in Saturday’s LaLiga clash, Reuters reported.

Real now sit top on 21 points, two clear of Barcelona who visit Sevilla on Sunday. Villarreal are third on 16 points.

The game was deadlocked in the early stages, but Real began to pile on the pressure as the clock ticked past 20 minutes, according to Reuters ​​​​​​.

Border Patrol agents shoot armed woman in Chicago as protesters confront immigration personnel

U.S. Border Patrol personnel shot an armed woman in Chicago on Saturday, the Department of Homeland Security said, as scores of protesters faced off against federal immigration agents on the city's southwest side, Reuters reported.

No law enforcement officers were seriously injured in the incident in which a group that included the woman rammed cars into vehicles used by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, a DHS spokesperson said in a statement. The woman, a U.S. citizen who was not identified, drove herself to the hospital, according to the statement.

No additional information was immediately available about the woman's condition.ICE agents fired pepper spray and loaded rubber bullets as part of heated exchanges with protesters on Saturday, according to Reuters.

U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem said in a post on X that she was sending additional "special operations" to control the scene in Chicago’s Brighton Park neighborhood. The woman was armed with a semi-automatic gun, assistant secretary Tricia McLaughlin said in a statement.

All 56 sluice gates of Koshi Barrage opened, authorities urge caution

Following continuous rainfall, the water level of the Saptakoshi River has risen significantly today.  Considering the possible risk, all 56 gates of the Koshi Barrage have been opened now. 

As per the water level measurement recorded at 8 am today, when the water flow at the Koshi Barrage reached 330,060 cubic meters per second, 50 gates were already opened. 

At 8:15 am, with the water flow exceeding 335,360 cubic meters per second, all 56 gates were subsequently opened, said Dharmaendra Kumar Mishra, Chief District Officer of Sunsari. 

Continuous monitoring of the river's water level is currently in progress. 

He shared that due to the ongoing rise in water levels, a red light has been activated at the Koshi Barrage as a warning signal, and red flags have been installed as a signal of risk. 

The Saptakoshi Water Measurement Control Room has indicated that the water level has surpassed the risk level. 

Given the heightened risk of flooding in certain areas of Udayapur and Sunsari, Chief District Officer Mishra has advised residents living near the river to stay alert.
