ICC charges Rodrigo Duterte with crimes against humanity
Former Philippine president Rodrigo Duterte has been charged with crimes against humanity by the International Criminal Court (ICC), BBC reported.
The 80-year-old is accused of being criminally responsible for dozens of murders that allegedly took place as part of his so-called war on drugs, during which thousands of small-time drug dealers, users and others were killed without trial.
The ICC's charge sheet, which includes several redactions, dates from July but was only made public on Monday.
ICC deputy prosecutor Mame Mandiaye Niang said Duterte was an "indirect co-perpetrator" in the killings, which the court alleges were carried out by others, including police, according to BBC.
Copenhagen and Oslo airports forced to close temporarily due to drone sightings
Denmark and Norway were forced to close their main airports on Monday night due to drone sightings, BBC reported.
Danish police were unable to confirm the type or the number of drones seen around Copenhagen Airport, but told reporters on Tuesday morning that they were likely flown by a "capable operator" who wanted to "show off".
Police confirmed that armed forces were activated in response to the sighting, but said there was nothing to indicate that the drones were intended to cause harm.
Operations at Copenhagen airport resumed at 00:30 local time (23:30 GMT) after flights were suspended for almost four hours following a drone sighting. Oslo airport also reopened after four hours of airspace closure, according to BBC.
Gold price hits record high at Rs 221, 700 per tola
The price of gold has reached the highest so far in the domestic market today.
The yellow metal is being traded at Rs 221, 700 per tola (11.66 grams) today, the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers' Association said.
The price of gold was Rs 217,800 per tola on Monday. It increased by Rs 3,900 per tola today compared to Monday.
Similarly, the price of silver is determined at Rs 2,680.
The price of gold is around USD 3,748 per ounce in the international market today, according to the Federation.
Trump to address UN General Assembly after France recognises Palestinian state
France has formally recognised a Palestinian state, becoming the latest in a wave of countries to take the step, BBC reported.
Speaking at the UN in New York, President Emmanuel Macron said "the time for peace has come" and that "nothing justifies the ongoing war in Gaza".
US President Donald Trump is due to address the UN General Assembly on Tuesday, as will the leaders of key regional players such as Jordan and Qatar.
On Monday, the US did not attend a one-day summit hosted by France and Saudi Arabia which focused on plans for a two-state solution to the conflict. Fellow G7 states Germany and Italy were also absent, according to BBC.
Barca's Gavi to undergo knee surgery on meniscus injury
Barcelona midfielder Gavi will undergo knee surgery to address a lingering meniscus injury, the LaLiga champions said, Reuters reported.
The 21-year-old Spain international, who tore his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in November 2023, injured his right knee in training in August after featuring in Barca's opening two matches of the season.
While Barca did not provide a timeline for Gavi's recovery, Spanish media reported that he could be sidelined for five to six weeks, according to Reuters.

Napoli were made to work hard but they maintained their perfect start to the Serie A season with a 3-2 home win over Pisa on Monday, which took the holders clear atop the standings, Reuters reported.

PSG handed first Ligue 1 loss this season as Marseille claim 1-0 home win
Ligue 1 champions Paris St Germain suffered a 1-0 defeat at Olympique de Marseille in Monday's rearranged 'Le Classique', with Nayef Aguerd’s early header proving decisive in his side's first home league win over their bitter rivals since 2011, Reuters reported.
After Sunday's weather-enforced postponement of the match amid heavy rain and storms, PSG fell to their first league defeat of the season after five matches, remaining on 12 points and yielding first place to AS Monaco on goals scored.
"We are not used to losing games," said PSG coach Luis Enrique, who was named coach of the season at the Ballon d'Or awards held at the same time in Paris, according to Reuters.
Insurance companies receive claims of over Rs 22 billion
The insurance companies have received the claims of Rs 22.25 billion for the loss incurred during the Gen-Z protests that happened on September 8 and 9.
The highest number of claims was received from Bagmati Province, according to the Nepal Insurance Authority. The firms in Bagmati Province have claimed Rs 17.97 billion as insurance by submitting altogether 1,343 claims.
According to the Authority, 18 insurance companies including the micro insurance companies have received a total of 2,478 applications for the claims.
The Authority stated that the insurance claims were made for the losses caused in the public and private companies from vandalism and arson.
However, the officials said that the volume of claims for insurance could further rise given the intensity of the damage to physical properties during the protests.
The Oriental Insurance Company and Siddhartha Insurance Company have received the claims for Rs 5.22 billion and Rs 5.8 billion, respectively.
The applications for insurance claims include damages to property, vehicles, engineering and contractor risk, and others.
The Authority shared that 322 claims were received from Koshi Province, 246 from Madhes, 184 from Gandaki, 202 from Lumbini, 22 from Karnali and 159 from Sudurpaschim Province.
