A man in an electric wheelchair died on Tuesday after being hit by a car driven by Inter Milan goalkeeper Josep Martinez in the province of Como, Italy police said, Reuters reported.
The incident occurred on Tuesday morning, with police stating that the wheelchair appeared to have veered into the path of the vehicle. Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident.
"The car driven by Inter goalkeeper Josep Martinez hit a man who was in an electric wheelchair travelling on a cycle path alongside a road in the province of Como," Italian police told Reuters.
Fear of mass killings as thousands trapped in besieged Sudan city taken by militia group
Fears are mounting of mass killings in the key Sudanese city of el-Fasher after the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) captured it from government forces, BBC reported.
In a address on Monday evening, Sudan's military chief Gen Abdel Fattah al-Burhan said he had approved the withdrawal of troops in response to the "systematic destruction and killing of civilians".
The UN said there were credible reports of "summary executions", while Yale University's Humanitarian Research Lab referred to satellite imagery of "piles of bodies executed en masse".
The RSF has denied accusations of killing civilians and targeting non-Arab ethnic groups, despite evidence presented by the UN and human rights organisations, according to BBC.

US forces have killed 14 people in strikes on four alleged drug boats in the Pacific, Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth said, BBC reported.
Mexico's navy says it is still searching for a lone survivor approximately 400 miles (643km) from the Pacific coastal city of Acapulco.
It is the latest in a series of attacks on boats the US says have been carrying drugs in both the Pacific and Caribbean.
The latest strikes in the eastern Pacific, which Hegseth said happened on Monday at the direction of President Donald Trump, mark an escalation in what it has cast as a campaign to stop narcotics from entering the US, according to BBC.
Israel strikes Gaza after accusing Hamas of ceasefire violations
Israel has carried out air strikes in Gaza, in response to what Israeli officials said were violations of the US-brokered ceasefire agreement, BBC reported.
Defence Minister Israel Katz accused Hamas of attacking Israeli soldiers in Gaza on Tuesday, and breaching the terms on returning the bodies of deceased hostages.
The Palestinian armed group claimed it had "no connection" to the attack and insisted it was committed to the ceasefire deal.
First responders in Gaza said at least nine Palestinians were killed in a wave of Israeli strikes across the territory on Tuesday evening, according to BBC.
Moderate rainfall likely in Bagmati, Madhes and Koshi from Thursday to Saturday
Weather is likely to be affected in Bagmati, Madhesh and Koshi Provinces from Thursday to Saturday due to cyclone 'Montha' developed in the Bay of Bengal.
The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology informed that the influence of the system is likely to cause moderate rainfall in many areas of Madhesh and Koshi Provinces, as well as in some areas of Bagmati Province.
There is also a possibility of heavy rainfall in one or two places in Madhesh and Koshi Provinces, it is stated.
Light rainfall is expected in some areas of the eastern parts of Gandaki and Lumbini Provinces.
As the system turns active, there is a chance of moderate snowfall in some areas of the high hill and mountainous regions of Koshi and Bagmati Provinces, and in some areas of the high hill and mountainous regions of Gandaki Province, informed Spokesperson of the Department Bibhuti Pokhrel.
Similarly, there is a chance of heavy snowfall in one or two places in the high hill and mountainous regions of Koshi and Bagmati Provinces.
The water flow in the Bagmati, Kamala, Koshi, and Kankai rivers, along with their tributaries, is expected to increase significantly, potentially reaching alert levels, the Department noted.
There is also a high possibility of abrupt flooding in small rivers flowing through the Kathmandu Valley, Kavre, Sindhupalchok, Dolakha, Makwanpur, Chitwan, and Sindhuli in Bagmati province; Bara, Parsa, Sarlahi, Rautahat, Mahottari, Dhanusha, and Saptari in Madhes province; and Sankhuwasabha, Taplejung, Panchthar, Tehrathum, Bhojpur, Dhankuta, Ilam, Jhapa, Morang, and Sunsari districts in Koshi Province.
Due to potential rainfall and snowfall, risks such as sudden flooding and landslides in rivers and streams may arise, which could also affect daily life, road and air transportation, agriculture, tourism, and other sectors.
Hence, the department has called for all concerned agencies and the general public to adopt precautionary and safety measures.
750 trekkers rescued from Tilicho base camp after snowfall
As many as 750 persons stranded at Tilicho base camp of a mountainous district, Manang, have been rescued by a joint squad of the Nepali Army, the Armed Police Force and the Nepal Police.
APF Spokesperson Shailendra Thapa informed that they were brought to Khangsar of Disyang Rural Municipality -9 from the base camp. The people who had reached there for the visit were stranded after the blizzard last night.
However, 50 others are kept safely at the base camp.
Meanwhile, Nepal Mountain Rescue Training Institute of the Armed Police Force rescued 45-year-old Birendra Rasaili after he fainted with altitude sickness. He was returning home after visiting Tilicho Lake. He was taken to Humde Health Post from Khangsar.
Rasaili is originally from Kathmandu Metropolis-31.
With the establishment of the Training Institute, the search and rescue of the missing and stranded ones have been easier.
Heavy rainfall in Manang and Mustang
Manang and Mustang, the two trans-Himalayan districts in Gandaki Province, experienced heavy rains in the last 24 hours.
According to Dinkar Kayastha, Information Officer at the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the heavy rains were recorded in the two districts due to the influence of Westerly winds and a low-pressure system developed in the Arabian Sea.
In the last 24 hours, Chame of Manang received 64.4 millimeters of rain, followed by 51.2 mm in Jomsom of Mustang. Rainfall from 50-100 mm is categorized as heavy.
Besides Manang and Mustang, various other districts experienced moderate rain in the past 12 hours.
As of 3:40 pm, Dunai of Dolpa witnessed 36 mm of rain and Jumla witnessed 13 mm. Baglung and Parbat recorded 24 mm, Pyuthan 21.8 mm, Sindhupalchowk 29.6 mm, Chitwan 23 mm, and Lamjung 27 mm of rainfall.
Mountain districts have experienced heavy snowfall, while the lower regions recorded rain. The cold has increased in the Kathmandu Valley, which is experiencing light rain.
As per the Department’s forecast, some places in the high hills and mountain regions of Bagmati, Gandaki, and Karnali Provinces are likely to see heavy snowfall and rain tonight.
Shanti Mahat, spokesperson for the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, urged everyone to take precautions amidst the forecast for rains and snowfall.
Heavy snowfall affects life in Khumbu region
Heavy snowfall has occurred in the Sagarmatha region.
Snowfall has been occurring in areas above Dingboche in Khumbu Pasanglhamu Rural Municipality, while rainfall is reported in Namche Bazaar and the surrounding lower areas.
"There is heavy snow above Dingboche, it is raining in the lower areas, and all tourists are inside hotels. It is not possible to go outside," said Lamakaji Sherpa, Chairman of the Sagarmatha Pollution Control Committee.
Currently, it is estimated that there are over 3,000 foreign tourists in this area. On Monday alone, about 800 foreign tourists arrived in Lukla from Kathmandu.
The District Administration Office has advised tourists not to travel as the trekking routes are invisible due to the snow cover and the possible risk of tourists getting lost.
Chief District Officer Lilakumari KC Pandey said, "Due to adverse weather, all tourists have been requested to stay safe and remain in hotels or homes." The district administration has kept the rescue team on standby.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Manojit Kunwar at the District Police Office said that a temporary police post has been set up in Dingboche and information about tourists in the area is being obtained by establishing continuous contact with the police there.
It is estimated that there are about 2,000 foreign tourists above Dingboche.
Incessant snowfall and rain have increased the cold. Pemba Sherpa, a local from Khumjung, said, "It has been very cold since this morning, snow has covered the village, everyone is staying indoors."
Continuous snowfall has affected daily life in the Khumbu region.
