The Premier League has agreed to rejig the calendar to avoid league leaders Arsenal and Crystal Palace playing two games in three days including their League Cup quarter-final clash, Reuters reported.
With both London clubs also juggling European commitments -- Arsenal in the Champions League and Palace in the Conference League -- fixture congestion created a player welfare headache.
Last week, the English Football League said the League Cup was being undermined by fixture congestion
due to expanded European cup competitions when they confirmed Palace's quarter-final with Arsenal would be played on December 23, according to Reuters.

World Cup ticket holders can expect to spend big just to park their cars at next year's tournament, with prices on FIFA's official website reaching as much as $175 per parking pass, Reuters reported.
First reported by the Athletic, opens new tab, the figures have astonished sports fans in the famously car-dependent United States, one of the tournament's three hosts, along with Canada and Mexico.
A "general parking" pass for the July 14 semi-final in Dallas was listed at $175 on Tuesday, while the price for parking at a group-stage match was listed at $75, according to Reuters.
Man dances for 144 hours to break video game marathon record
A Hungarian man has set a new record for longest video game marathon by playing the rhythm-based music game Dance Dance Revolution for six days, BBC reported.
Szabolcs Csepe from Budapest, bopped to over 3000 songs and burned more than 22,000 calories in his quest to romp into the record books.
The 34-year-old, known as GrassHopper on his gaming channels, said that preparation for the marathon took six months and included physical training, focusing on his "legs and glutes", as well a a diet plan, according to BBC.
"Playing DDR is always fun for me," he told BBC News, "so this challenge was best described as tediously joyful".
Israel passes first reading of bill proposing death penalty for people it deems terrorists
Israel's parliament has passed the first reading of a bill proposing the death penalty for those it deems to be terrorists acting against the state - a requirement which means it is likely to be used only against Palestinians convicted of deadly attacks on Israelis, BBC reported.
The bill - which has been condemned by the Palestinian Authority and human rights groups - was backed in the 120-seat Knesset by 39 votes to 16.
Far-right National Security Minister, Itamar Ben-Gvir - whose Jewish Power party brought the vote - celebrated late on Monday by handing out sweets, according to BBC.
Malaysia officials recover more bodies from capsized migrant boat
At least 21 people are now known to have died after a boat carrying undocumented migrants sank near the Malaysian resort island of Langkawi, near the border with Thailand, BBC reported.
Search and rescue operations have entered their third day. Thirteen people have been rescued but dozens remain missing. The Malaysian Coast Guard estimate about 70 people were on board.
Those on the boat are believed to be among 300 people - mostly Rohingya - who left Myanmar's impoverished Rakhine state two weeks ago, Malaysian authorities said.
Another boat carrying 230 passengers is still missing, according to BBC.
Suicide bombing in Islamabad kills 12, says Pakistan's interior minister
A suicide attack outside a court in Pakistan's capital Islamabad has killed 12 people and injured at least 27 others, the country's interior minister said, BBC reported.
Mohsin Naqvi said a bomber was planning to attack the district courthouse but was unable to get inside.
Naqvi said authorities would prioritise identifying the bomber, and that those involved would be brought to justice, according to BBC.
