Scotland booked their first men's World Cup appearance since 1998 with a dramatic 4-2 victory over Denmark on Tuesday night at Hampden Park, India Today reported.
Stoppage-time goals from Kieran Tierney and Kenny McLean sparked jubilant celebrations across Glasgow, as Scotland overcame a resilient Danish side that played with ten men for much of the second half.
The result ensures Scotland bypass the playoffs and qualify directly for next year's World Cup finals in North America, ending a 28-year wait, according to India Today.
Denmark, who required only a draw to progress, must now navigate the playoffs after surrendering crucial points late in the campaign.
India's US exports jump despite 50% tariffs as trade tensions ease
India's goods exports to the US rose for the first time in five months in October, jumping 14.5% from September, even as Donald Trump's steep tariffs remain in place, BBC reported.
Exports to India's largest foreign market had dropped sharply last month after 50% US tariffs on India - including a 25% penalty for buying Russian oil - kicked in on 27 August.
The improved data came as Indian state-run oil firms agreed to import more annual liquified petroleum gas (LPG) from the US and Trump exempted many farm goods from reciprocal tariffs that could benefit India, according to BBC.
Lebanon says Israeli strike killed 13 people near Palestinian refugee camp
At least 13 people have been killed in an Israeli strike near a Palestinian refugee camp in southern Lebanon, the country's health ministry says, BBC reported.
The Israeli military said it had targeted members of the Palestinian armed group Hamas "operating in a training compound... in the Ein el-Hilweh area".
It said the location was used by Hamas to plan and carry out attacks against Israel, which Hamas rejected as "fabrication and lies".
Cristiano Ronaldo to visit White House on same day as Saudi crown prince
Superstar footballer Cristiano Ronaldo is to visit the White House on Tuesday, a US official has confirmed - the same day as the leader of Saudi Arabia where the Portuguese currently plays the game, BBC reported.
The White House official did not say Ronaldo was part of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman's official delegation.
However his starring role in the Saudi football league has seen him become a face of the country's modernisation drive under the crown prince, the country's de-facto ruler, who wants to reduce the country's dependence on oil revenues by diversifying into other areas including sports and tourism, according to BBC.
Two Ukrainians working for Russia behind rail sabotage, Polish PM says
Two Ukrainian citizens who long worked for Russian intelligence have been identified as the suspects behind two acts of sabotage on Poland's rail network, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said, BBC reported.
One suspect had already been convicted in absentia of acts of sabotage in Ukraine, Tusk told parliament.
On Monday, he visited the scene of an explosion near Mika, south-east of Warsaw, which damaged the railway line leading to the Ukrainian border at the weekend, and called it an "unprecedented act of sabotage".
We won’t bow down, Thapa says amid NC convention row
Nepali Congress (NC) General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa has said that the party will neither bow down nor be deceived as the dispute over the upcoming convention continues to intensify.
In a video message posted on Facebook on Tuesday, Thapa warned that if the regular general convention does not take place on Dec 31, the party will have no choice but to call a special general convention.
He stressed that the ongoing debate is not merely about fixing a date but about determining the future direction of party reform.
Calling for patience from party leaders and workers, Thapa said the NC will enter the upcoming House of Representatives elections with renewed energy and a reformed organizational spirit.
“We will go to the elections with new energy and a transformed Congress,” he said. “When we stand for the truth, the party becomes stronger.”
50 districts will be affected from cold wave, snowfall this year: NDRRMA
The government has prepared a separate draft of the National Action Plan-2083 to reduce possible risk from snowfall and cold wave in mountain and high-hilly areas as well as in the Tarai-Madhes region during winter.
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) has given final touches to the draft after holding consultation and discussions with bodies concerned.
Earlier, Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal had directed the Authority to carry out activities for preparedness to reduce possible risk from snowfall and cold wave.
NDRRMA Chief Executive Officer Dinesh Prasad Bhatt, said preparations are underway to pass the action plan from the executive committee chaired by the Home Minister and to implement it.
It has been estimated that 29 mountain and high-hilly districts might be affected from snowfall and 21 districts in Tarai from the cold wave.
Special strategy activities have been included in the action plan to adopt special precautions and reduce possible risk from snowfall and cold wave in these districts. The government is to issue the national action plan for the first time with an objective of lessening possible losses and impact on lives from snowfall and the cold wave.
According to the NDRRMA, in general, there is the impact of heavy snowfall in mountain and high-hilly districts as well as of the cold wave in Tarai districts from mid-November to mid-March.
Similarly, Jhapa, Sunsari, Morang, Saptari, Siraha, Dhanusha, Mahottari, Sarlahi, Rautahat, Bara, Parsa, Nawalparasi (Bardaghat Susta East), Nawalparasi (Bardaghat Susta West), Rupandehi, Kapilvastu, Dang, Banke, Bardiya, Kailali and Kanchanpur would be most affected from cold wave.
It is estimated that the cold wave will have a general impact also in Udayapur, Makawanpur, Sindhuli and Surkhet.
According to the action plan, it is predicted that the mountainous and high hill districts of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim Provinces will be most affected by snowfall.
It is estimated that the upper reaches of Taplejung, Sankhuwasabha, Okhaldhunga, Solukhumbu, Panchthar, Tehrathum, and Bhojpur in Koshi Province will be more affected.
The action plan states that snowfall will affect Dolakha, Ramechhap, Sindhupalchok, Rasuwa and Dhading in Bagmati Province, and Gorkha, Manang, Mustang, Baglung and Kaski in Gandaki Provinces , and Rukum East in Lumbini Province.
Dolpa, Jumla, Mugu, Humla and Kalikot in Karnali province and Bajura, Bajhang, Darchula, Baitadi and Dadeldhura in Sudurpaschim province are highly likely to be more affected by snowfall.
Executive Chief Bhatt stated that the implementation of the program would help make life easier for the underprivileged people, senior citizens, children, people with chronic illnesses, pregnant women, new mothers, and persons with disabilities during the winter.
A plan has been prepared to minimize the potential impact of snowfall and cold waves on people's lives and to make advance arrangements for the necessary relief materials for response.
“Based on this same plan, all districts, provinces and local levels affected by snowfall will be able to prepare and implement action plans according to local conditions,” said Executive Chief Bhatt.
A strategy has been formulated to identify, by December 1, the areas and target groups that may be affected by snowfall, update the data, and determine the priorities of beneficiaries in accordance with the work plan.
The action plan includes the strategy for preparations for disaster response due to snowfall, measures to reduce damage based on forecasts, and making the forecasting and early warning mechanisms operational to ensure timely information reaches the concerned communities throughout the month of Mangsir.
Party will seek legal remedy against House dissolution: UML Chair Oli
CPN-UML Chair and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that the party will seek a legal remedy and stage a peaceful protest against the dissolution of the House of Representatives (HoR) on the night of September 12.
During a meeting of UML members in the dissolved HoR today, Oli expressed the view that a political solution should be sought through the restoration of the Parliament.
He stated that the party will move the Supreme Court, demanding the restoration of the lower house.
