Russian President Vladimir Putin said Ukraine was in no hurry for peace and if it did not want to resolve their conflict peacefully, Moscow would accomplish all its goals by force, Reuters reported.
Putin's remarks on Saturday (Dec 27), carried by state news agency TASS, followed a vast Russian drone and missile attack that prompted Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy to say Russia was demonstrating its wish to continue the war while Kyiv wanted peace.
Zelenskiy is to meet US President Donald Trump in Florida on Sunday (Dec28) to seek a resolution to the war Putin launched nearly four years ago with a full-scale invasion of Russia's smaller neighbour, according to Reuters.

Zelenskiy has told journalists that he plans to discuss the fate of eastern Ukraine's contested Donbas region during the meeting at Trump's Florida residence, as well as the future of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant and other topics, according to Reuters.
Gold price hits new record at Rs 270, 600 per tola
The price of gold reached an all-time high in the domestic market on Sunday, setting a new historical record.
According to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Traders, the price of gold has increased by Rs 1, 300 per tola to reach Rs 270, 600 per tola today.
Similarly, the price of silver has increased by Rs 435 and is being traded at Rs 4, 835 per tola.

Fernando Martin, a coach with Valencia CF, has died with three members of his family after their boat capsized in Indonesia, Spanish football clubs said, Reuters reported.

HoR elections: PR closed lists to be submitted today and tomorrow
The political parties contesting in the March 5 elections to the House of Representatives are required to submit their respective proportional representation (PR) list of candidates by today and tomorrow.
The Election Commission has stated that all preparations have been completed for the schedule for political parties to submit closed lists for the proportional election system.
The parties will have to submit their closed lists for the proportional election system to the Commission today and tomorrow, Spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai said.
He said that the closed lists for the proportional election system submitted by the parties on December 28 and 29 will be validated from January 4.
Following the validation, the Commission will ask the parties to reconcile, if any, of the lists from January 5 to 11. Spokesperson Bhattarai said that the final list will be published on February 3.
A total of 100 political parties have registered to participate in the proportional representation (PR) election.
Only political parties that have registered will be allowed to submit their lists of candidates for the closed list today and tomorrow.
