Gold price increases by Rs 14, 400 per tola on Wednesday
The price of gold has increased by Rs 14, 400 per tola in the domestic market on Friday.
According to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association, the precious yellow metal is being traded at Rs 304, 700 per tola today. It was traded at Rs 290, 300 per tola on Tuesday.
Similarly, the price of silver has increased by Rs 265 and is being traded at Rs 5, 600 per tola today.
Nepal Army mobilized to ensure security for HoR polls
The Nepal Army personnel will be mobilized from today to ensure free, fair, and fearless elections to the House of Representatives (HoR).
Security personnel from the Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, and the National Investigation Department are being mobilized under the coordination of the Nepal Army for the elections scheduled for March 5.
Army personnel will be deployed across all 165 constituencies nationwide.
On November 27, President Ram Chandra Paudel on the recommendation of the Prime Minister and decision of the council of ministers, approved the mobilization of Nepal Army for the elections.
As part of its election security responsibilities, the Nepal Army will oversee critical tasks, including printing and transportation of ballot papers, security at polling stations, transportation of ballot boxes, and protection of vote-counting centers.
Kings League raises $63 mln to support global expansion
The Kings League seven-a-side soccer format announced on Tuesday it had raised $63 million from investors led by U.S.-based Alignment Growth to support global expansion projects, taking its total funding since its launch in 2023 to over $160 million, Reuters reported.
“We have proven that our model works at scale. This funding allows us to accelerate our expansion, continue innovating the format and explore strategic M&A opportunities that support our long-term vision,” Kings League CEO Djamel Agaoua said in a statement.
Created by former Spain defender Gerard Pique in 2022, the league has regional hubs in European countries including Spain, Germany and France. The investment led by Alignment Growth, a media and entertainment investor, will support its launch in the U.S. following its recent start in Saudi Arabia, according to Reuters.
AC Milan close gap on city rivals Inter after 3-0 win at Bologna
Adrien Rabiot scored one goal and laid on another as AC Milan eased to a commanding 3-0 Serie A victory over hosts Bologna on Tuesday to keep the heat on their city rivals Inter Milan at the top of the table, Reuters reported.
The win takes second-placed Milan to 50 points from their 23 games, five points behind leaders Inter. Bologna stay in 10th place with 30 points from 23 games.

Arsenal beat Chelsea 1-0 to reach League Cup final
Arsenal booked their spot in the League Cup final by beating Chelsea 1-0 at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday thanks to an injury-time goal by former Blues attacker Kai Havertz, sealing an aggregate 4-2 win over their London rivals, Reuters reported.

Australia, Japan interested in hosting 2035 Asian Cup, says AFC
Australia, South Korea and Kuwait have formally expressed interest in hosting the 2035 Asian Cup in addition to bidding for the 2031 tournament, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) said on Wednesday, Reuters reported.
The AFC is expected to confirm hosts for both the quadrennial continental showpieces at a single annual congress following a proposal by its President Sheikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa.
The governing body said Japan had also expressed interest in hosting 2035 alone, according to Reuters.

Furthermore, there is a possibility of light snowfall and rain at one or two places in the high hilly and mountain regions of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki Provinces, according to the Meteorological Forecasting Division.
Meanwhile, fog and mist will occur in some areas of the Tarai region.
Later tonight, mist will occur in a few places in the Tarai region.
The high hilly and mountain regions of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki Provinces will be partly cloudy, while the rest of the areas will remain mainly fair.
There is a possibility of light snowfall at one or two places in the high hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi and Gandaki Provinces.
Meteorological Analysis by the Division states that there is partial influence of a westerly low-pressure system over the country.
