The country is currently witnessing the impacts of westerly and local winds. 

The winds with water vapor generated from Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea also have partial impacts on Nepal, according to the Meteorological Forecasting Division.

The weather throughout the country would remain partly to generally cloudy in the afternoon and night today.  

Some places in the high-hilly region of Koshi, Bagmati, Lumbini, Gandaki and Sudurpaschim Provinces will witness light to moderate rain coupled with thunder and lightning. 

Light rain and snowfall is likely at one or two places in the high-hilly and mountainous regions of the country.

Four parliamentary committees under the Federal Parliament are holding meetings today. 

According to the Federal Parliament Secretariat, Finance Committee, Public Accounts Committee, Committee on Development Economic Affairs and Good Governance and Federalism Enablement and National Concern Committee are scheduled to hold meetings.

The meeting of the Finance Committee under the House of Representatives is taking place at 11 am where discussion would be held on the issues to be incorporated in the budget for the coming fiscal year.

Discussion would be held between committee members and National Planning Commission, Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry and Confederation of Nepalese Industries. 

Similarly, the meeting of the Public Accounts Committee would meet at 11 am where discussion would be held on complaints it received. 

At 11:30 am, the Committee on Federalism Enablement and National Concern under the National Assembly is holding its meeting. 

An agenda has been set to discuss the principles and priorities of Appropriation Bill, 2082 in the meeting where discussion would be held among the Finance Ministry, National Planning Commission and National Natural Resources and Fiscal Commission. 

Likewise, the Federalism Enablement and National Concern Committee is discussing the activities carried out for Disaster Management (disaster mitigation, response and recovery). An agenda has been set to discuss the preparation for disaster risk reduction, future action plan and other issues in the meeting.

The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has projected more than average rainfall for the coming monsoon. 

The department made analyses of the weather patterns of recent time and predicted more than average rainfall in most of the places from June 1 to September 30. Director at the department, Kamal Ram Joshi, shared that both maximum and minimum temperatures will record a rise in the imminent monsoon. 

"The rainfall will occur more by 35 to 65 percent ranging from different provinces this year," he said, adding that even the maximum temperature will rise ranging from 35 to 65 percent above average.

Similarly, the minimum temperature will also witness a rise from 35 to 55 percent above the average temperature.

The price of gold has increased by Rs 5, 000 per tola in the domestic market on Wednesday.

According to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association, the precious yellow metal is being traded at Rs 189, 800 per tola today. It was traded at Rs 184, 800 per tola on  Tuesday.

Similarly, the silver is being traded at Rs 1, 990 per tola today.

A 25-year-old man was found dead in a swimming pool in Chitwan on Monday night.

According to Rabindra Khanal, Information Officer at the District Police Office, Lokesh Mahato of Bharatpur metropolis-22, was found dead in the swimming pool at the Dahakhani-based View Resort in Ichchhakamana Rural Municipality-7.

It has been reported that he had gone swimming with his colleagues, who later found him dead.  

Following the incident, police have detained them for further investigation into the case.

Dr Bishwanath Poudel has been appointed as the Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank.

The meeting of the Council of Ministers held at the Prime Minister's residence in Baluwatar this evening decided to appoint Poudel as the Governor, government spokesperson and Minister for Communications and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung told the media.

"Based on the recommendation of the committee led by Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel, a decision was made to appoint Dr Bishwanath Poudel as the NRB Governor," he said.

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) gained 49. 09  points to close at 2,677. 45 points on Tuesday.

Similarly, the sensitive index surged by 8. 68 points to close at 451. 01 points.

A total of 16,888,459-unit shares of 310 companies were traded for Rs 7. 31 billion.

Meanwhile, Sindhu Bikash Bank Ltd (SINDU), Saptakoshi Development Bank Ltd (SAPDBL) were the top gainer today, with its price surging by 10. 00 percent.

Likewise, Wean Nepal Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (WNLB) was the top loser as its price fell by 3. 09  percent.

At the end of the day, total market capitalization stood at Rs 1. 49 trillion.

Phurba Tenzing Sherpa and Raj Gurung scaled Mt Everest on Sunday.

After reaching the top of Everest at 10 am, they displayed the flag of Annapurna Media Network.

Sherpa, a record holding climber from Dolakha reached the top of the world for the 17th time while Gurung is the first Nepali-origin Hong Kong resident to climb Mt Everest.
