Water Supply Minister Pradeep Yadav calls it quits

Minister for Water Supply Pradeep Yadav resigned from his post on Tuesday.

Minister Yadav resigned, saying that it would not be appropriate to remain in the government following the incident in which 19 people lost their lives during a protest led by Gen Z on Monday, according to his personal secretariat.

“I am resigning from the post of Minister for Water Support in support of Gen Z and against the repression carried out by the government in the name of controlling the protests of Gen Z,” he said through social media.

Protesters have torched the CPN-UML party office in Chyasal, Lalitpur on Tuesday.

According to Lalitpur Police Spokesperson Chakraraj Joshi, the protesters vandalized and set fire to the party office of the UML.

Police are trying to take the situation under control, he said.

Protesters vandalized and set fire to the house of CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal in Khumaltar on Tuesday.

According to Apil Raj Bohra, spokesperson at the District Police Range, Kathmandu, protesters have been demonstrating in almost all the places.

He said that the protesters are also demonstrating in front of the residence of CPN-UML Chairman and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli in Balkot.

Likewise, protesters are also protesting near the residence of Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba in Budhanilkantha.
