Nepal records 25 new Covid-19 cases on Thursday

Nepal reported 25 new Covid-19 cases on Thursday.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 3, 623 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which 24 returned positive. Likewise, 1, 328 people underwent antigen tests, of which one was tested positive.

The Ministry said that no one died of virus in the last 24 hours. The Ministry said that 89 infected people recovered from the disease.

As of today, there are 1, 081 active cases in the country.

Nepse plunges by 23.95 points on Thursday

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) plunged by 23. 95 points to close at 2,544.30 points on Thursday.

Similarly, the sensitive dropped by 4.60 points to close at 475. 47 points.

A total of 3,787,045 units of the shares of 228 companies were traded for Rs 1.89 billion.

Meanwhile, Emerging Nepal Limited was the top gainer today with its price surging by 10 percent. Likewise, Narayani Development Bank Limited was the top loser with its price dropped by 4.79 percent.

At the end of the day, the total market capitalization stood at Rs 3.61 trillion.

Government launching nation-wide vaccination campaign against typhoid from April 8

The government is launching a nation-wide vaccination campaign against typhoid from April 8 to May 1.

The campaign was announced at a program organized by the Ministry of Health and Population here today.

The National Immunization Program has been taken as the government's first priority and a successful program of public health.

It is said that the vaccine against typhoid would be administered to the children between the age of 15 months to 15 years this time and it would be provided to children up to 15 months after including it in the regular immunization.

Roshan Pokharel, Secretary at the Ministry, urged all sides to facilitate in making this campaign systematic.

Director at the Family Welfare Division, Dr Bibeha Kumar Lal and Binod Bura of the World Health Organization, among others expressed their views about the necessity of anti-typhoid vaccine and campaign. RSS

Cloudy weather forecast for three more days

The weather will be partly to generally cloudy in many parts of the country for three more days due to the general influence of the low pressure system around Bihar of India and the local wind, the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology said.

There is a possibility of light rain along with thunder and lightning in the hilly region. It will be partly to generally cloudy in the hilly region of Province 1, Bagmati Province and Gandaki Province.

The Department said there are chances of light rain accompanied by thunder and lightning in one or two places of the hilly region in Gandaki Province and Province 1.

The weather update shared by the Meteorological Forecasting Division states that the minimum temperature in Kathmandu Valley today was 17 degrees Celsius and the maximum 25.8 degrees Celsius.

Similarly, Jumla recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 5.0 degrees Celsius while Dipayal recorded the highest temperature of 35 degrees Celsius in the last 24 hours. RSS

“Nation will head towards path of prosperity after three tiers of election”

Minister for Communications and Information Technology Gyanendra Bahadur Karki has expressed his hope that the nation would head towards the path of prosperity after the three-tier election.

In his address to a function organized to mark the 24th anniversary of the Reporters’ Club Nepal here today, he said that the people would have a massive participation in the three tiers of election.

“We will conclude the elections as a mega festival,” the government Spokesperson said, adding that the government was serious about holding the elections in a free and fearless environment.

He said that all political parties should have a common resolution and concerted efforts to realize people’s aspirations for a prosperous Nepal.

 “We have guaranteed freedom of Press in the Constitution,” he said, adding the incumbent government was always conscious for the protection of it.

Sharing about the government's plan of developing Nepal as the richest country in the entire Asia in 10 years, the minister said that the government was moving ahead accordingly.

The government spokesperson on the occasion took time to make it clear that Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba’s India visit taking place from tomorrow would contribute to further consolidating bilateral ties. RSS

Unidentified persons torch 2 vehicles in Myagdi

Unidentified persons set two vehicles on fire at Dammara in Beni Municipality of Myagdi district along Beni-Darbang road section on Thursday.

Birendra Gurung, Inspector at the District Police Office, said that the unidentified persons torched a van (Dha 1 Ja 986) and a taxi (Dha 1 Ja 726) which were parked on the road this morning.

Police said that they are searching for the persons involved in the incident. RSS

2 killed, 3 injured in Parsa motorbike collision

Two persons died and three others sustained injuries when two motorbikes collided with each other in Parsa on Thursday.

Police said that the motorbikes (Na 3 Pa 1026 and Province 2-03-004) collided head-on in Pokhariya Municipality of Parsa district at around 10 am today.

DSP Om Prakash Khanal, spokesperson at the District Police Office, Parsa, said that both the riders died on the spot in the incident.

The deceased have been identified as Lalan Patel (35) of Gulariya, Dhobini Rural Municipality-2, Parsa and Hasindar Sahani (29) of Ekdarawa, Sakhuwa Prasaini, Parsa.

Police said that the pillion riders Rejadin Maya (30) of Dhobini, Ranjit Mahato and Supen Raut (19) of Ekdarawa, Sakhuwa Prasaini-5 were injured in the incident.

DSP Khanal said that they are undergoing treatment at the Birgunj-based Narayani Hospital.

 

Ruling parties agree to move ahead unitedly in local level elections

The ruling parties have decided to move ahead unitedly in the upcoming local level elections.

A meeting of the ruling parties held at Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba’s official residence in Baluwatar on Thursday agreed to tie up in the elections.

The parties have agreed to make decisions on fielding the candidates of the metropolitan cities from the center and give rights to the lower level for others, a leader who attended the meeting said.

He said that the parties have agreed to move ahead on the remaining process of electoral alliance by holding a discussion in the next meeting.
