9th National Games: NA in top with 61 gold medals
The Tribhuvan Army Club of Nepal Army (NA) is on the top of the table in the ongoing 9th National Games in Pohara. So far, the NA has secured 62 gold medals out of 139 gold medals secured in different games. Similarly, the NA got 39 silver and 28 bronze medals. Nepal Police Club is in the second position and the APF Club the third. The APF Club got 23 gold, 17 silver and 15 bronze medals totaling 65 while Police Club got 16 gold, 25 silver and 33 bronze medals totaling 74. Bagmati Province, Gandaki Province and NRNA have secured fourth, fifth and sixth positions respectively. Bagmati Province got 14 gold, 22 silver and 23 bronze medals, while Gandaki Province got 10 gold, 8 silver and 20 bronze medals and NRNA each got six gold and silver and four bronze medals. Moreover, Province 1 is in the seventh position, Madhes Province in the eight, Sudurpaschim in the ninth, Lumbini in the tenth, Karnali Province in the 11th position. So far, 139 each gold and silver medals and 186 bronze medals have been secured.
2 killed in Birtamod bike collision
Two persons died and two others including a child sustained injuries when the motorbikes they were riding on collided with each other at Birtamod Municipality on Monday. DSP Basanta Pathak of the District Police Office, Jhapa said that the motorbikes (Ma 5 Pa 1604 and Ma 3 Pa 5580) collided head-on at Beldangi in Birtamod Municipality-2 yesterday evening. The deceased have been identified as Anis Sauden (25) of Bahradashi-2 and Bholaraj Bhujel (43) of Bahradashi-6. DSP Pathak said that Chandrakala Bhujel (42) and her nine-year-old daughter Prasanna were injured in the incident. Critically injured in the accident, both the riders were rushed to the B and C Hospital where they breathed their last during the course of treatment. Meanwhile, the injured mother and daughter are undergoing treatment at the Birta Hospital in Birtamod. Police said that they are looking into the case.
RSP to support independent candidate Sagar Dhakal in Dadeldhura-1
The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has decided to support independent candidate Sagar Dhakal in Dadeldhura-1. “In the campaign to break the political syndicate, the entry and courage of the Dhakal into politics gives a special meaning,” the party wrote on their Facebook, “Our party supports Dhakal, (syringe election symbol) in Dadeldhura-1”. In the post, RSP has praised the steps taken by Dhakal who is up against the incumbent Prime Minister and the President of Nepali Congress Sher Bahadur Deuba.

Nepal reports 46 new Covid-19 cases on Monday
Nepal reported 46 new Covid-19 cases on Monday. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 1, 183 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which 40 returned positive. Likewise, 1, 104 people underwent antigen tests, of which six were tested positive. The Ministry said that no one died of the virus in the last 24 hours. The Ministry said that 17 infected people recovered from the disease. As of today, there are 711 active cases in the country.
Government announces public holiday on Tuesday to mourn death of Satya Mohan Joshi
The government has announced a public holiday on Tuesday to mourn the death of Veteran culture expert and historian Satya Mohan Joshi. Phanindra Mani Pokharel, spokesperson at the Home Ministry, said that it has also been decided to fly the national flag at half-mast in all the government offices, public organizations and associations and diplomatic missions abroad to mourn the death of veteran litterateur. Joshi passed away at the age of 103 on Sunday. He breathed his last during the course of treatment at the Gwarko-based Kist Medical College at 7: 09 am yesterday. According to a source at the hospital, he passed away at 7: 09 am today. Joshi, who had been suffering from prostate and heart-related ailments for the past many years, was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital on October 10. Joshi was also suffering from pneumonia and was also found infected with dengue during the blood test. Earlier, he had announced to donate his body to the hospital after his death. Although Joshi’s health condition looked like it was improving in the initial few days of his hospitalization, it deteriorated later on. The KIST Medical College had been providing Joshi and his spouse free medical treatment.

7, 988, 570 people to cast votes in upcoming elections
The Election Commission said that 7, 988, 570 people will cast their votes across the country in the elections to the House of Representatives and Province Assembly slated for November 20. According to the list published by the Election Commission, of the total voters, 8, 847, 579 are men and 9, 140, 806 are women and 185 are others. There are 165 electoral constituencies for the federal parliament and 330 constituencies for provincial parliament across the country. The Election Commission said that Province 1 has 56 constituencies, Madhes Pradesh 64, Bagmati Province 66 and Gandaki Province 36. Likewise, Lumbini Province, Karnali Province and Sudurpaschim Province have 52, 24 and 32 constituencies respectively.
