Nepse surges by 5. 16 points on Wednesday
The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) gained 5.16 points to close at 1, 894.76 points on Wednesday.
Similarly, the sensitive index surged by 0.77 points to close at 362. 08 points.
A total of 3,733,524-unit shares of 286 companies were traded for Rs 1. 08 billion.
Meanwhile, City Hotel Limited was the top gainer today, with its price surging by 10. 00 percent. Likewise, Sanima GIC Insurance Limited was the top loser as its price fell by 4.21 percent.
At the end of the day, total market capitalization stood at Rs 2. 90 trillion.
10 Nepalis missing in Sikkim
Ten Nepali nationals have gone missing in flood-ravaged Sikkim. They are reportedly from Ilam municipality-9.
According to Bikram Babu Phyak of Ilam-9, those people were in Sikkim for work. He feared that a flooded Tista River may have swept them away on October 4.
After the flooding, these people have lost contact with their families, which have requested the government to help find their missing relatives.
According to Shrawan Kumar Pokharel, chief district officer of Ilam, among the missing are Sen Bahadur Karki aka Sanu, Lakpa Sherpa, Narmaya Basnet, Khusi Basnet and Kumar Basnet.
Pokharel said he had information that Karki and Sherpa have gone missing but came to know that Basnet and others were also unaccounted for only recently, apparently due to disruption in telephone services and electricity supply in the affected areas.
He said Nepali authorities are in talks with Indian security authorities regarding the search and rescue of Nepali nationals.
Per media reports, air force helicopters managed to land at the affected areas on Monday for search and rescue operations as a hydroelectric dam burst last week after intense rains, flooding a valley with water and washing away bridges and homes as thousands fled in one of the worst disasters to hit the region in 50 years.
Police said rescuers have recovered 52 bodies while around a 100 people, including 23 army personnel, remain unaccounted for.
As the weather improved, helicopters arrived in the worst-hit Mangan district to help some 3,000 stranded tourists.
As per India media reports, an immediate account has been taken of all tourists and local residents in the regions of Chaten, Lachen, Lachung, and Thangu in North Sikkim. A comprehensive list of 2000 tourists, including 63 foreign nationals, has been compiled, and support is being extended in the form of food, medical care, lodging and telephone access.
Nepal Airlines plane to leave for Israel tonight to rescue Nepalis
The government has decided to send an aircraft of Nepal Airlines to rescue Nepalis in Israel.
Nepal Airlines Corporation spokesperson Ramesh Paudel said that preparations are being made to send an aircraft to Israel.
“The Tourism Ministry has directed the Nepal Airlines Corporation to keep an aircraft on standby. We are making preparations for the same,” he said.
According to the Foreign Ministry, the aircraft of the national flag carrier will leave for Israel via Dubai to rescue Nepalis at 11 pm today.
The Foreign Ministry was of the opinion that the rescue was delayed after not getting the route for chartered flight.
Nepali nationals in Israel have been urging the government to rescue them at the earliest following the attacks by Hamas.
On Tuesday, Foreign Minister NP Saud held a telephone conversation with his Israeli counterpart Eli Cohen and urged him for necessary coordination and facilitation to repatriate the bodies of Nepali students killed in the attacks by Hamas in Israel.
In response, the Israeli Foreign Minister expressed his commitment to extend necessary assistance to send the bodies to Nepali students back home.
Ten Nepali students have been killed while 55 from Israeli bunkers and 72 from Lebanon have been shifted to safer places since the war broke out four days ago, Nepali Ambassador to Israel Kanta Rizal said.
Over 350 Nepali people eager to return home have so far registered their names at Nepali Embassy.
Earlier, the International Relations and Tourism Committee had directed the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers and Foreign Ministry to make arrangements to repatriate the bodies of 10 Nepalis killed in the attack.
Speaker Ghimire urges govt to repatriate bodies of Nepalis from Israel
Speaker Devraj Ghimire has urged the government to promptly make necessary arrangements for bringing back bodies of the Nepali people killed in the Hamas-launched terrorist attack in Israel.
In a condolence message today, he also called for the government to make arrangements for repatriating interested Nepali people staying in Israel.
He expressed deep sorrow over the loss of the lives of 10 Nepali people in the lethal terrorist attack in Southern Israel.
"I urge the government to relocate all Nepali people facing risks of potential attacks to safer places, arrange repatriation of those interested and bring back bodies of those killed in the incident to home", the message reads.
Extending wishes for the recovery of the wounded Nepali people undergoing treatment in local hospitals, he drew the government's attention towards mobilizing all mechanisms for the search of the missing Nepali people in Israel.
Gold price drops by Rs 100 per tola on Wednesday
The price of gold has dropped by Rs 100 per tola in the domestic market on Wednesday.
According to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association, the yellow metal is being traded at Rs 108, 800 per tola today. It was traded at Rs 108, 900 per tola on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the tejabi gold is being traded at Rs 108, 300 per tola. It was traded at Rs 108, 400 per tola.
Similarly, the price of silver has remained unchanged and is being traded at Rs 1, 340 per tola today.
55 Nepali students working along Israel-Gaza border relocated to safer place
All 55 Nepali students working in an agriculture farm along the Israel-Gaza border have been relocated to a safer place.
According to the Nepali Embassy in Tel Aviv, 72 Nepali people, who were awaiting rescue from the nearby northern border of Israel, have also been shifted to safer areas.
The Embassy also said that four Nepali people who sustained injuries in Saturday's attack are witnessing gradual improvements in their health and search for a missing Nepali is taking place with the assistance of all available local and diplomatic mechanisms, including police and hospital.
Over 350 Nepali people eager to return home have so far registered their names at Nepali Embassy. A process has already been initiated to safely return them home.
Madhes Province government to provide relief of Rs 500,000 to Sah's family
The Madhes Province government has decided to provide a relief amount of Rs 500,000 to the family of Ananda Sah of Laxminiya Rural Municipality-4, Sapahi of Dhanusha who lost his life in the terrorist attack in Israel.
In a condolence message issued on Tuesday evening, Chief Minister Saroj Kumar Yadav expressed his heartfelt condolence to the family of the deceased and announced relief amount to the victim’s family.
Paying tribute to 10 Nepali youths who were killed in the terrorist attack in Israel, he termed the Hamas attack against innocent Nepalis an inhumane act.
"The attack has shattered the dreams of 10 families. We the Nepali people are in deep grief due to an incident. I would like to pay homage to those killed in lethal attack and condole the bereaved families", the message reads.
‘Pashupati Prasad 2: Bhasme Don’ releases its trailer
The trailer for the film ‘Pashupati Prasad 2: Bhasme Don’, directed by Dipendra K Khanal, has been released. The trailer was launched amid an event at Labim Mall in Lalitpur. The film will depict the ups and downs in Bipin Karki’s life, reprising his role as ‘Bhasme Don’, seven years after the release of the first part, ‘Pashupati Prasad’.
Speaking at the event, Khanal stated, “We hope the audience will embrace the second part as warmly as they did the first. The film has been crafted exactly as the movie team envisioned, and we believe audiences will love this film too.”
Actor Karki added, “I don’t see Bhasme Don just as a character but as my identity. I feel proud to be recognized as Bhasme Don.”
The film’s actress, Swastima Khadka, said, “Actresses rarely get the chance to portray diverse roles. I had the opportunity to deliver a new performance not only in this film but also in other works of Director Khanal. The role of ‘Durga Mata’ in this film was challenging. I extend my gratitude to the entire production team for entrusting me with this character.”
Produced under the Tuki Arts banner, the film stars Karki and Khadka, along with Saugat Malla, Barsha Siwakoti, Prakash Ghimire, Rabindra Singh Baniya, Sajan Thapa Magar, Prakash Dahal, Bishu Poudel, and Ghanshyam Joshi, among others.
The film’s story is written by Khagendra Lamichhane, who is also the film’s producer. Cinematography by Krishna Bahadur Thapa and editing by Banish Shah, this film is scheduled for screening during the upcoming Dashain festival starting on Oct 21.
