Three killed in Sunsari motorbike collision

Three persons, including father and daughter died, and two others sustained critical injuries following a head-on collision between two motorcycles at Ramdhuni Municipality-7, Sunsari along the Chatara-Kanchhi Chowk road section. 

The accident occurred when the motorcycle (Ko 33 Pa 9605) en route to Kalabanzar from Chatra-Kanchhi Chowk collided with another motorcycle (Prades 1-02-056 Pa 5864) coming from the opposite direction.

The deceased have been identified as 34-year-old Inarchan Chaudhary, his nine-year-old son Pranish, and another motorcycle rider, 51-year-old Bindhu Yadav. 

Critically injured in the incident, they were rushed to the Dharan-based BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS), where they died during the course of treatment, police said.

 

Inarchan Chaudhary's 32-year-old wife Pratisha and 36-year-old Ramesh Chaudhary of Itahari-7 were injured in the accident. 

 

They are undergoing treatment at the Dharan-based BPKIHS.

 

 

Fire engulfs property worth Rs 6 million in Sunsari

Property worth around  Rs 6 million was destroyed in a fire at  Koshi Rural Municipality-6 in Sunsari on Thursday. 

The fire made to drive away mosquitoes spread to 10 houses in the neighborhood, turning them into ashes,  according to a local Birendra Kumar Yadav. He said that property worth around Rs was destroyed in the fire.

The houses of Babu Nand Goit, Ramanand Ram Yadav, Manoj Yadav, Khushi Lal Goit, and Bijay Goit among others were destroyed in the fire.

The fire was later brought under control with the help of a fire engine backed by Nepal Police and Armed Police personnel and locals. 

 

Indefinite curfew clamped in five local levels of Sunsari

The District Administration Office, Sunsari has clamped an indefinite  curfew in five different local levels of the district.

Acting Chief District Officer Bedraj Phuyal said that the curfew has been imposed in Inaruwa Municipality, Harinagar, Dewagunj, Jhokraha Narsingh and Koshi Rural Municipalities effective from 5 pm today.

The Office said that the curfew order was issued to avert any untoward incident.

It has been said that the order was issued to maintain peace and security following a clash between two communities.

Residential homes handed over to 80 poor households in Sunsari

Duhabi Municipality of Sunsari district has handed over residential homes to the Dalit, marginalized and destitute community.

Eighty households were provided the homes constructed in over two bighas of land at the cost of Rs 70 million.

Municipality mayor Bed Narayan Gachchhadar said that the homes made under 'Mayor-residence project' were distributed to the poor households on Monday.

Each house has the facilities of drinking water, toilet and electricity. Even a community building is made for the households where they can conduct traditional rituals such as marriage and tonsure ceremonies.

For the handover of the homes, the municipality picked 80 from among 200 applications it received for it. Remaining applicants would be provided similar residential homes in near future, according to Mayor Gachchhadar.

The local government is planning to manage the schooling free of cost to the children of poor families which got homes.

Similarly, the guardians will be provided skill-oriented training to foster self-employment.

Meanwhile, the municipality has said it was continuously monitoring the encroachment upon public spaces and settlement of squatter dwellers.

If any squatter dweller is found having his/her own home, he/she would be taken action, the municipality warned.

Biratnagar youth shot dead in Tarahara Jungle of Sunsari

A 28-year-old man was shot dead in Tarahara Jungle of Sunsari along the Dharan-Tarahara road section on Friday.

It has been learnt that Rohit Chaudhary of Biratnagar Sub-Metropolitan City-5, who was heading towards Biratnagar from Dhankuta, was shot and robbed by a gang of unidentified persons at the Charkoshe Jungle of Tarahara.

Incapacitated in the attack, Chaudhary breathed his last during the course of treatment at the Dharan-based BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences.

DSP Raj Kumar Rai, spokesperson at the District Police Office, Sunsari, said that they are searching for the miscreants.
