Nepal-Korea Infra Biz Night 2024 held in Kathmandu

The Embassy of the Republic of Korea (RoK) organized the 2024 Nepal-Korean Infra Biz Night in Kathmandu on Saturday to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between the Republic of Korea and Nepal.

Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Devendra Dahal, chief guest of the event, extended his congratulatory message on the 50th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Nepal and the Republic of Korea.

He pointed out that over the past 50 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations both countries have always respected and trusted each other as a good neighbor and friendly coexistence and mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields that have yielded positive results.

He asked the government of Korea for a long term soft loan rather than a grant for prosperous Nepal and graduation from the least developed country.  

Delivering his welcome speech, Ambassador of the RoK to Nepal Park Taeyoung remarked that the 2024 Nepal-Korea Infra Biz Night was organized for new opportunities for both Nepali and Korean investors.

He further said that Korean companies are equipped with world-class expertise then ready to take part in more projects and improve capacity-building initiatives in Nepal. As usual, a large number of Korean and Nepalese business people, media personnel, senior government officials attended the program. Devendra Dahal, Minister of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Dipak Khadka took part in the event as a chief guest.

South Korea has emerged as a middle power that fosters goodwill, friendship, and collaboration among nations. Nepal has also reaped benefits from Korean economic development, with Korean companies making significant investments in the country, ranking as its fourth-largest foreign investor. Similarly, many Koreans visit Nepal annually to hike mountains or visit Lumbini, the Buddhist pilgrimage site and birthplace of Buddha.

Ambassador Park emphasized the role of private to private partnership between Nepal and Korea, and has been an effective way to spearhead many challenges in the infrastructure sector of Nepal. He also asks for support in the business promotion and cooperation from NKCCI to further promote Korean companies' investment in Nepal and to build a network between the entrepreneurs of the two countries.

 

Nepal-Korea mark 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations

The Embassy of the Republic of Korea and Nepal Tourism Board jointly organized an event to commemorate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Korea and Nepal on April 28, 2024.

The joint team of Nepal and the Republic of Korea successfully climbed the Jugal Himal in Sindhupalchowk district.

A renowned Korean mountaineer and honorary Nepali citizen Um Hong Gil led the South Korean team and record-setter climber Dawa Yangzum Sherpa led the Nepali team in the expedition from April 5 to April 27, 2024.

The successful expedition of the joint team is a shining example of tourism collaboration between the Republic of Korea and Nepal is .

This historic achievement strengthened our bond of friendship and showcased the beauty of Nepal’s natural landscapes and the spirit of adventure. This journey highlighted the potential for collaboration in the field of tourism to create unforgettable experiences for travelers and promote cross-cultural understanding, reads a statement issued by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea.

Minister Hit Bahadur Tamang attended the Korea- Nepal Friendship Expedition ceremony 2024 in Kathmandu on 28 April 2024.

Minister Tamang exchanged a congratulatory message on the 50th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Nepal and Republic of Korea.

He also pointed out that over the past 50 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, both countries have always respected and trusted each other, setting a good example of friendly coexistence and mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields have yielded fruitful results.

Park Tae-Young, ambassador of the Republic of Korea in Nepal, emphasized the 50-year journey as a tale of shared values and mutual respect, contributing to personal and economic development. “I have shared that the Korean government has designated Nepal as a priority cooperation country for 15 consecutive years in development cooperation focusing on vocational education, health, agriculture and ICT.”

The program was attended by the Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, lawmakers, diplomats, high level officials from Ministry of Foreign Affairs, media persons, businessmen from tourism sectors and all expedition team members.

 

 

50th anniversary of Korea-Nepal diplomatic relations

Fifty years ago, our countries embarked on a journey of friendship, understanding, and collaboration. The emblem is a symbol of the enduring friendship between our nations as well as collaborative efforts of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Government of Nepal and our Embassy in shaping a meaningful representation of this significant milestone. Today, as we unveil the result of cooperation between the Ministry and the Embassy, we can witness the strong bonds that have flourished over the past five decades. 

This book stands not only as a testament to their individual journeys but also as a powerful symbol of the fruitful outcomes of bilateral employment cooperation. The 26 businessmen featured in this book are living proof that the exchange of skills and experiences can yield personal growth and substantial contribution to the economic landscape of Nepal. These 26 business owners are heroes to create jobs in Nepal and to inspire other returnees to have a dream. Each success of 26 heroes also started from their dream. Their stories exemplify the spirit of bilateral employment cooperation, demonstrating that collaboration between Korea and Nepal can be a powerful catalyst for personal and economic development.
