Three killed as jeep plunges into Madi river

Three persons died and two others were injured when a jeep they were travelling in plunged into the Madi river in Tanahun along the Prithvi Highway.

The jeep (Ga 2 Cha 5760) was heading towards Chapaghat from Damauli when the incident occurred, according to District Police Office Police Inspector Raju Adhikari.

The deceased have been identified as Prabin Thapa Magar (35), Kumar Thapa (22) and Kushal Thapa ( 20)  of Byas Municipality-5, according to police. They died while undergoing treatment at the Damauli Hospital. 

The injured were rescued by the Nepal Army's Kalibhanjan Battalion, Nepal Police and locals.

 

 

 

Three killed, two injured in Palpa jeep accident

Three persons died and two others were injured in a jeep accident at Siddheshwar, Rainadevi Chhahara Rural Municipality-1 in Palpa district last night.

The jeep (Lu 1 Ja 2377) was heading towards Thulapokhara from Asare of Siddheshwar when the accident occurred, said Sunil Malla, Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, Palpa. 

Following the incident, five of the injured were rushed to the United Mission Hospital in Tansen and doctors declared three of them as dead, police said.

The deceased have been identified as 36-year-old Dipendra Budha, 31-year-old Chet Narayan BK, and 23-year-old Janak Regami of Siddheshwar, Rainadevi Chhahara-1.

The injured jeep driver, Ranjan Reshmi (27) and another injured Saroj Budha 23) are undergoing treatment at the hospital.

According to the police, the jeep fell some 200 meters down the road. Further investigation into the incident is underway, police said. 

 

 

Two killed, two injured in Arghakhanchi jeep accident

Two people died and two others were injured in a road accident in Malarani, Arghakhanchi.

The accident took place early this morning when a jeep (Lu 2 Cha 2990) heading towards Khandaha from Lutipokhari lost control and fell some 200 meters down  the road in Malarani Rural Municipality-3.

The deceased have been identified as the driver of the jeep Dilip Khanal (22) and Balkrishna Rijal ( 21) of Malarani-4, according to Chief of the District Police Office, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Chakra Bahadur Malla.

The injured are 17-year-old Bhuwan Pokharel and Basanta Pokharel (17) both of Malarani-4. They are undergoing treatment at Lumbini Provincial Hospital, Butwal. 

An investigation into the incident is underway, said District Police Office Chief Malla. 

 

Two dead, seven injured in Parbat jeep accident

Two persons died and seven others were injured when a jeep met with an accident at Bihadi Rural Municipality in Palpa on Wednesday.

The jeep with registration number Lu 1 Ja 4460 was heading towards Waling in Syangja from Purtighar of Kaligandaki Rural Municipality when the accident occurred, according to the District Police Office, Parbat.

The deceased have been identified as Min Prasad Upadhyay (61) of Ranipani of Bihadi-3 and Dil Kumari Bhattachan (64) of Kaligandaki Rural Municipality-4 in Gulmi district, informed DSP Rabin Bista. They died on the spot.

The identities of injured ones are yet to be ascertained, said DSP Bista.

According to him, of those sustaining injuries in the incident, six were sent to Palpa district for further treatment while a baby boy, who sustained minor injuries, is receiving treatment at the local health post.

The incident took place at Lidi of Bihadi Rural Municipality due to brake failure.

Further investigation into the incident is underway, Bista said.

Jajarkot jeep accident leaves five dead

Five persons died when a Bolero jeep en route to Nalgad Municipality-3 from Kalimati met with an accident.

The deceased have been identified as driver Indrajit Thapa (32), Shila Pun (65), Sharda Thapa (33), Laxmi Pun Roka (18), and her son Alochan Roka of Nalgad Municipality-3, Inspector at the District Police Office, Arjun Timilsina informed.

One of the injured is undergoing treatment at a local hospital. 

Eight killed in Darchula jeep accident

Eight persons died and six others were critically injured in a jeep accident in Darchula on Friday.

According to police, the four-wheeler (Ma 1 Ja 338) was heading towards Gokuleshwor from Malikarjun Jatra when the incident occurred in Sirad river of Shailyashikar Municipality-5 at around 4 am today.   

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Prakash Dahal said that the deceased have been identified as Birendra Rawal (30) and Shanti Rawal (28) of Shailyashikar Municipality-5, Dilip Bista (45) of Shailyashikar Municipality-9 and Sanjib Bohora (15) and Birandra Bohara (50) of Dilashaini-5 in Baitadi district and Mina Lekhak (40).

Likewise, Mohammad Safir (45) and Mohammad Basim (18) of Uttar Pradesh, India also died in the mishap, DSP Dahal said. Identity of one is not ascertained as yet. 

All the injured have been taken to Gokuleshwor Hospital.

Police said that they are looking into the incident.

 

Three killed in Rukum jeep accident

Three persons died and three others sustained injuries when a Bolero jeep met with an accident at Nepane in Musikot Municipality-1 of Rukum West on Sunday evening.

The jeep (Karnali Province 2001 Cha 0413) was heading towards Musikot-4, Chhinkhet from Khalanga when the incident occurred.  

The deceased have been identified as Saugat BK (27) of Thakurbaba Municipality-5, Kaligaudi (Bardiya), Dharmendra Shrestha (30) of Gurbhakot Municipality-8, Mehalkuna (Surkhet) and Jit Bahadur Karki (19) of Barahatal Rural Municipality-5, Baddichaur (Surkhet).

Police Inspector Bakht Shahi, also the spokesperson of the District Police Office, Rukum West, informed that the accident took place when the vehicle fell some 200 meters down the road.

According to him, the critically injured were rescued from the accident site and taken to the District Hospital Salle where they were pronounced dead in the course of the treatment.

The injured are Sujal BK (17) of Banfikot Rural Municipality-4, Chhinkhet of Rukum West, Dilip Thapa (26) of Thakurbaba Municipality-5 (Bardiya) and Tikaram Khanal, (27) of Kaligaudi of the same municipality.

The condition of BK and Khanal is said to be critical. They were referred to Nepalgunj for further treatment after providing general treatment at the district hospital.

Injured Thapa is undergoing treatment at the District Hospital.

10 injured as jeep carrying teachers meets with accident in Sindhuli

At least 10 persons were injured when an electric jeep carrying teachers heading towards Kathmandu from Sindhuli to take part in the teachers’ protest met with an accident at Boharetar in Sunkoshi Rural Municipality-3 along the BP Highway on Friday.

Of the injured, three persons are in critical condition, DSP Chiranjibi Dahal, spokesperson at the District Police Office, Sindhuli, said.

The injured have been identified as Kumari Chalise of Kamalamai-6, Kamala Ghimire of Kamalamai-5, Rajan Karki of Tinpatan-10, Saroj Thapa of Kamalamai-6, Mukunda Thapa and Bhuwan Thapa of Kamalamai-1, Babita Devkota of Kamalamai-4, Garki Basnet of Banepa-10, Bishnu Dhakal of KMC-6 and his son Nischal Dhakal.

The injured have been taken to the Dhulikhel Hospital for treatment.

Police suspect that the accident was caused due to overspeeding.

Further investigation into the incident is underway, said police.

Three killed, eight injured as landslide buries Scorpio jeep in Palpa

Three persons died and eight others were injured when a landslide buried a Scorpio jeep at Jorte in Palpa on Wednesday.

The identities of the deceased are yet to be established.

SP Heramba Sharma, Chief at the District Police Office, Palpa, said that the trio died on the spot when the landslide buried the jeep (Lu 1 Ja 4600) at Jorte in Palpa this morning.

The jeep was heading towards Butwal from Tamghas when the incident occurred at around 8 am.

Information Officer at the District Police Office, Palpa said that the injured have been taken to the Mission Hospital for treatment.

Four killed in Mugu jeep accident

Four persons died when a jeep they were traveling in met with an accident in Sipkopahira of Mugu on Monday.

Two among the deceased have been identified as Ram Pariyar of Sharkegad Rural Municipality-2 and Prakash Bohara of Simkot Rural Municipality-2, Humla.

The identities of the two others are yet to be ascertained.

DSP Mahesh Basnet of the District Police Office, Mugu said that the jeep (Ga 1 Ja 7762) was heading towards Mugu from Shorukot when the tragedy occurred yesterday.

There were nine passengers including the driver in the jeep.

Two died on the spot while two others breathed their last during the course of treatment at the Tarapani Basic Health Post, police said.

Three persons including the jeep driver were injured seriously in the incident, DSP Basnet said.

1 killed, 11 injured in Parbat jeep accident

A person died and 11 others were injured when a jeep met with an accident at Goudamuni in Durlung of Kushma Municipality-3, Parbat on Saturday.

The jeep (Ga 1 Ja 5229) carrying passengers was heading towards Durlong from the district headquarters Kushma when the incident occurred last night.

Sheetal BK (7) of Kushma-3, who was seriously injured in the accident, died during the course of treatment at a local hospital, according to Suman Niure, Chief of District Traffic Police Office, Parbat.

Prince Chhetri (4) and Chandrakala Chhetri (50) of the same place, who were injured in the incident, have been sent to Gandaki Hospital Pokhara for further treatment.

Likewise, Three-year-old Saurabh BK, Shanti BK (23) Krishna Prasad Padhya (70), Nishan Pariyar (16), Hiradevi Magar (55), Min Bahadur Chhetri, Amrit Sharma (47), Bhajat Sharma (76), Amar BK (16) of Pokhara, who were also injured in the accident, are undergoing treatment at the local health facility.

The jeep reportedly fell some 30 meters from the road.

Police said that they have arrested the jeep driver for necessary action.
